  1. I'm a terrible Catholic. I don't pay any attention to Lent.
  2. our senior and freshmen classes are small this year. We are getting a ton of 8th graders.....and some of them are really really good (supposedly...) although our freshmen class (or the woodwinds-the brass suck except for like 2 people-both girls) are really good.
  3. 130. We always are the smallest 5A bandthat makes finals ( at least in BOA events...)
  4. today I realized I'm not that good at writing fugues....... now if it was Satiric music.....
  5. Richland. We may be playing it. I'll see in about two months. hopefully this year we won't get our closer in october...
  6. For our church band, we're playing Symphony for Band by Persichetti (proabably mvt 1 and 4) Incantation and Dance by Chance and Dreamscape bby Heindeman I play percussion in church band instead of sax. I like our program
  7. Marimba 15 Xylophone 15 Vibraphone 11(+) Chimes 10 Bells 11 Concert Snare 10 Marching Snare 10(-) Marching Tenors 10 Concert Bass Drum 10 Marching Bass Drum 11 Tom-Toms 9 Crash Cymbals 10 Suspended Cymbal 10 Triangle 10 Timpani 10 Gong 10 Finger Cymbals 8
  8. I think we're playing slalom by Carter Pann
  9. well, it's alot easier to make shapes, and special effects (liike follow the leader, rotations, ect.) Drill Pro is sort of good for Linear shows ( no irregular sets), even though you can curve lines to make arcs, Squiggaly lines, and cricles are sorta hard... This whole thing is hard to explain
  10. It's pretty simplistic. I'm not even kidding.
  11. we attended a contest last weekend in San Marcos We will be attending the UTA festival ( I think) and the TCU festival. maybe the Highlander festival as well.
  12. Our third piece is Sinfonietta by Ingolf Dahl. I love that piece.
  13. Trumpet 1 (-) Horns 186 (+) one more.
  14. no slapstick? or vibraslap? or even SLIDEWHISTLE? How could you! lol.
  15. Ensemble: Schezo for saxophone quartet by leonard Stack Fun piece, I just wish that sometimes he didn't have such a diverse part.... Solo: Maybe Schmidt's sonata for bari sax.
  16. El Relicario. I loved that piece.... There is a march that my sister played that wasn't a "march".... The whole insturmentation was backwards. Like the Tubas and low reeds had the melodies while the trumpets and flutes played the down and up beats....it was weird. it sounded cool though
  17. played: Javelin by Torke/Patterson ( this year) Inglesina-Cese (8th grade) Festal Scenes-Ito(last year) Summer Dances-Balmages ( freshmen year) Canarios Fantasia-Akey(8th grade) I haven't: 30 second Scherzo-Heindeman Symphony in Bb-Hindemith A tribute to a good friend-Conway Turbine-Mackey Smyphonic Metamorphosis, Turandot Scherzo-Hindemith Scherzo(gian Co) from Fire Water Paper: A Vietnam Oratorio-Goldenthal Equus-Whitacre Symphony #2 Apollo Unleashed-Ticheli A symphonic Etude-Yvonkowsky
  18. I don't know what my solo is. I bet I could sight read it though. There's not that many hard Bari sax solos anywhere................ I could play the Schmidt sonata again......or not. I like our ensemble this year. it doesn't sound like a kid banging on a keyoboard.
  19. I just wish I knew what our third piece was. We're doing Battle of Shiloh and Till Eulespiegel for midwest, but I don't know which Sinfonietta we're doing. Probably the one by Dahl.
  20. Terpsichore is pretty cool. Canarios? I played that my 8th grade year. it was fun Black horse troop? I also played that 8th grade year. That was for our Sudler cup presentation, and we had a very old lady from the John Philip Sousa Foundation conduct it. She was a beast. I've never seen an old lady like that move.
  21. that sucks. I know of three people that are quitting, but none of them are in the honors band. the people that quit are usually people in our 4th and 3rd bands, and rarely 2nd and r1st
  22. Our horn parts are hard. Even our march, but it is hard only because it goes about halfnote=150. and then our overturic piece has a lot of horn solos. I don't know about our third piece. it's called Sinfioniette or something like that.
  23. surprisingly ( or not) Symphonic Metamorphosis is one of the easier Hindemith works...It fairly linear, easy to keep up with, and is fairly straight foreward. One of my orchestra friends is playing his Symphony in Eb, which is a medium difficulty for hindemith writing. However, all Hindemith music is hard, so it doesn't make a big difference
  24. nope. never p[layed Ticheli at all. I almost got to play Wild Nights, because one of the bari saxes didn't show up, and when I got there, he arrived two seconds after I did. Ticheli evaded me again....
