    Does anyone know why DCI opted to go to Bedford for the “Dallas” show instead of the usual Mesquite memorial stadium? It doesn’t make any sense to me, Mesquite must have dropped the ball big time to let DCI go.

    Ok you know what I knew that from looking at area sheets. Lol which now that I think about it, it’s no wonder why musically and visually were the best of the best lol

    Maybe we run US bands as protest (idk if usbands is any different but it’s the only thing I can think of lol)

    What if we just have our own dang National championship , Dallas, Austin, San Antonio, take a pick. We’ll run 30/30/40. Tie breaker the bands have to sight read music and drill and have 15 mins to prep. We’ll run it on a 2 year rotation with Los Angeles and Tampa. I got $5 on it, who's with me?!?!

    What’s the split for UIL? I’m assuming it’s something in there that makes us the better marchers and musicians ? I assume uil doesn’t focus on the GE as much.

    This is why, I guess I feel more for them. They were amazing! The band to beat! I’m not even on that side of Dfw , I’m over here with the Poteet’s, North and Horns lol but we know a good band when we see one. I was for sure they were going to win it all, but they (judges) really couldn’t let that happen and it really sucks.

    The problem is, is FloMo going back next year? I think I read the LISD schools rotate this trip every 4 years. That’s what sucks about this Avon can go every year, theyre 20 mins away from the venue.

    Hey! We just got rid of the gauntlet, we don’t want them back. Keep them up there!! lol. No but for real if I understand you correctly. Are you saying Area J comes back to Area C? Would that not just clog up the same state finalist spots for the foreseeable future? I mean sure you go from 4 spots to what? 5 or 6? That’s LISD the first 3, and you got 30 something bands going for 2-3 spots? Youre still going to leave some potential state finalist out anyway so it doesn’t really solve anything. And then you got “mid rangers” like Waxahachie, Forney, that are essentially out after being on top. What sucks is that it sucks either way lol literally no one wins either way it goes.

    Does this realignment happen every two years? Like the schools dropping to 5A move up to 6A etc? I know districts do, not sure about the area

    To answer your original question, for some it’s gonna be experience. I know there was a handful of bands with something like 50% freshmen. With a year under their belt it could be the difference from not making finals to advancing. Looking at you Horn and Garland that goes for new directors too. Schools like Sachse, Duncanville etc will also have a year under their belt so watch out for that. Although they made finals, they could place higher because of this. maybe new fresh show designs? I feel like I saw a lot of desert 🏜️ western styles (Forney, Horn, Duncanville etc), a lot of retros. Are they all using the same show designer or what? Lol you know what show was cool? Rowletts, the music to go with the red riding hood theme, the simple tree props and guard in red hoods. That was simple yet immersive. More of that please lol you don’t necessarily need a giant snake or fire breathing dragon to put on a good show. Idk we could be in for a major shake up what with some schools potentially leaving to 5A and others joining 6A. So whatever adjustments they need to make will be more telling when we know who we’re going against lol.

    That makes sense. i assume something similar for 5A? Maybe not 13 but enough for them to keep the 4 state spots ?

    I’ve noticed a few things about AREA C. In 5A they only had 15 bands but still had their 10 finals spots and 4 state spots in 4A they have 21 bands with 12 finals spots and 6 state spots!!!! what gives? There’s not THAT many military bands in the area are there?

    Is there a score sheet for the 6A prelim round? I wanna see how all of the bands ranked

    Yeah that’s what would suck, youre gonna have the same 4 bands taking those spots anyway. It may as well be the old area c with the big 3 in it. This change would only benefit the Wylies. You still end up with 20 something bands fighting for one spot. Waxahachie would inevitably change to 5A after the new school opens fall of 27. So that would open up a spot but who knows what kind of wacky change would happen then.

    If this holds true we would bump down to 3 state spots. That’s not good , and if the Wylie's come back to replace the schools we lose to 5A, you can basically kiss those non Forney and Waxahachie state spots good bye. We’d go back to the Area of doom from 2 years ago. Would spell bad for band like even the Rockwalls and the Richardsons. Bands like Northforney who right now would be close, would be bumped down a few pegs. I really hope it does not cause any major realignments that would hinder some of our schools to have the success theyre having. I guess we will see
