  1. DIVISION I 1 Santa Clara Vanguard 77.600 2 Blue Knights 76.950 3 Seattle Cascades 61.250 DIVISION II 1 Oregon Crusaders 72.900 DIVISION III 1 Spokane Thunder 56.300 It looks like two judges, Brass & Visual Performance, were not in attendance at the show tonight. Weird. Both ensemble scores were used for the performance subcaption.
  2. QUOTE (bluebellbrass07 @ Jul 4 2006, 12:10 AM) Wow they just announced we have yet another new director. http://www.ldbellband.org/info/ So, that makes a total of three assistant directors at L.D. Bell.....Nice! Cannot wait to see another fantastic production from the L.D. Bell Band.
  3. Haha. But seriously, I am getting pretty bad at this. Once again, work owned my life in June. Excuses, excuses....I know. But it's true. However, I will be making it up by doing TWO shows for the July edition Currently, in the works.....
  4. Maybe, The Woodlands??
  5. Saw the Vanguard last week in California... The corps is fine and the show is incredible!! No one is predicting a championship caliber show just yet but after last year's mediocre year....they are heading in the right direction. I expect SCV to be in the thick of things next year. 2006 is just the appetizer.....
  6. Still...nowhere, and I mean nowhere, as bad as Blue Devils '89.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BGqwqpo3Xwk Listen from 4:21-4:55. I feel really bad for the guy. :-/
  7. There a new judging panel in California tonight so that explains the scores dropping off a bit from previous shows. And also, it was a first read on the corps for most of the judges. It's going to be a close one! 3 weeks until San Antonio...
  8. I remember Leander hosting a DCI competition in 2003. Not sure what happened to it though.
  9. DIVISION I 1 Blue Devils 80.800 2 Santa Clara Vanguard 76.600 3 Blue Knights 70.700 4 Pacific Crest 65.100 5 Esperanza 60.000 DIVISION II 1 Impulse 60.450 DIVISION III 2 Mystikal 50.600 3 Gold 50.000 --- Since the last competition on Sunday.... Blue Devils down .50 Santa Clara Vanguard up .20 Blue Knights down 1.00 Pacific Crest up .55 Esperanza down 1.05
  10. Not surprised that Spirit fell that much. I thought yesterday's score was unbeliveable. This looks more realistic. The Madison Scouts colorguard continues to struggle. They were second to last tonight in Division I....placed behind the Colts & Blue Stars.
  11. QUOTE (bluebellbrass07 @ Jun 28 2006, 10:48 PM) is it just me or are the CA results taking FOREVER. Well, they are 2 hours behind Central time.
  12. QUOTE (Amusicman @ Jun 27 2006, 08:26 AM) but man all you have to do is hear the mp3 of their music performance this year to know that they were in a league of their own. Their music this year, IMHO, blew nearly else away. I agree wholeheartedly, Andrew. Ronald Reagan had a phenomenal sound this past year. Best music performance I've heard in YEARS! Their show literally gives me tears everytime. It's a shame they didn't come out with the Grand National title, because their music book alone should have beaten any 'cool visual effect' looking show at Grand Nationals.

Very true. The Cadets & Bluecoats are virtually neck and neck score wise.

The competition in Tennessee & Virginia were both rained out tonight. Looks like the anticipated matchup between The Cadets & Cavaliers is going to have wait until July 8th at the DCI Indianapolis Regional. Grrr, rain.
  15. QUOTE (Keyboard_Countessa @ Jun 26 2006, 06:12 PM) So Bluecoats' percussion has been beating the Cavaliers? As a percussionist and a hard-core Cavies fan, I find this intriguing. How much of these scores are determined by battery performance and how much by pit? I've never seen much of the Bluecoats, but I know that the Cavaliers' pit has a very good reputation. The Cavaliers and Bluecoats percussion sections are fantastic this year. I find myself enjoying the Cavaliers book more. Also, keep in mind that the brand new Cavaliers percussion staff have been together for only several months. It's going to take some time for everything to gel. Once all is said and done...I expect the Cavaliers to be in contention for the percussion title this year. Jim Casella and crew wrote an outstanding book. The Bluecoats percussion are deserving of their success though. They're sound great...picking up where they left off last year. An FYI: The Bluecoats percussion staff is made up of the old Cavaliers staff of Mike McIntosh, Brett Kuhn and etc.
  16. I don't know if anyone noticed but at Columbia, Missouri... Visual Performance Colts: 13.20 Madison Scouts: 13.10 Colorguard Colts: 13.70 Blue Stars: 12.20 Madison Scouts: 12.10 Very interesting. --- By the way....I was at the DCI show in Walnut, California show on Saturday and the Santa Clara Vanguard, Blue Devils & Academy were all fantastic. Looking forward to San Antonio! It's going to be a great one.
  17. QUOTE (Xukaniz @ Jun 24 2006, 01:11 PM) I like the Cavies line sounding like machines they were awesome enough match grip....darn you Casella! Confused here...... Cavaliers using matched grip? When?
  18. QUOTE (VRHSRangerTBone @ Jun 26 2006, 01:35 AM) Oh...and what about The Academy? I'm not too familiar with them...nor am I familiar with how the scores work in comparing the divisions. Does their score really mean that they beat Santa Clara? I saw the Academy on Saturday in California and they were fantastic. They shouldn't have a hard time winning the Division II Championships this year but.... No, you can't compare scores between divisions. The Division I and Division II/III judging sheets are extremely different.
  19. San Diego CA DIVISION I 1. Blue Devils - 78.450 2. Santa Clara Vanguard - 74.350 3. Blue Knights - 67.300 4. Mandarins - 61.800 5. Pacific Crest - 59.950 6. Esperanza - 57.250 DIVISION II 1. The Academy - 72.200 2. Impulse - 55.500 DIVISION III 1. Gold - 45.850 2. Mystikal - 42.000 Senior Corps 1 Dream, Sr. - 55.710 ---- Both SCV & BD gained around 2 points and the Blue Knights gained a point since their last competition on Wednesday. I get to see these corps tomorrow in California!!!
  20. Powder Springs GA DIVISION I 1. The Cadets - 75.750 2. Phantom Regiment - 73.950 3. Boston Crusaders - 71.600 4. Spirit from JSU - 68.700 5. Southwind - 60.200 6. The Magic - 56.200 DIVISION II 1. Teal Sound - 57.600 Senior Corps 1. CorpsVets, Sr. - 47.250 CA scores coming soon..... ---- The Cadets widen the gap with the Phantom Regiment and a good score to start off the season for the Crusaders.
  21. QUOTE (Lustra.exe @ Jun 23 2006, 01:26 AM)Question: Does anyone [else] think it is possible for Phantom to jump The Cadets? Think back to last year when The Cadets opened up the season three points behind the Cavaliers. As the season progressed, they closed the gap with the Cavaliers and were in a league of their own by the end of the season. If there aren't any major design problems for the 2006 show then I expect The Cadets to pull away from the Phantom Regiment in the next couple of weeks.
  22. QUOTE (Trumpet Master @ Jun 22 2006, 05:01 PM) Clements is going to the new region 28, if I am not mistaken, correct? That means I know what one other band in my region is marching. Good luck and welcome to Region 28 Clements HS, if you are in our region. Clements HS is in Sugar Land, Texas....a suburb of Houston. They are in Region 13.

  24. QUOTE (MartinHorn @ Jun 21 2006, 05:25 PM) To kinda get off this sore subject, How bout the people in the pregame show comparing Wade to Michael Jordan? I'm not surprised. I can't stand some of the ESPN/ABC sports programming. I'm all about the NBA on NBC..... *cues song*

    DCI 6/21

Yikes, the Scouts have yet to break 70. As for the Bluecoats, very impressive start to the 2006 season...only two points behind the Cavaliers.
