  1. As the season progresses and this competition gets closer, I must update my predictions. 1. Hebron: Saw the community performance. All I can say is, Wow. Hebron. 2. Marcus: Biggest hot take, I know. With whatever the heck happened at BOA Conroe and Austin, I will assume that these judges will slightly clean towards the show that's more cleaner. Marcus has the upper hand which is why I'm putting them above FloMo. They sound musically excellent and their show looks interesting. Visually, it's pretty meh but then again, state year and dirty marching = bad. As long as they look clean marching, this may very well be the case. 3. FloMo: One of the most unique shows we'll see this year. They look pretty dirty I would say but maybe they can get themselves together and snag either 2nd. I'm feeling like it'll be unlikely that they'll outright win this contest with the show they have on the field this year. Then again, who knows what those judges are gonna be on 4. Keller: Yeah, Keller. They sound good, they look good judging from a high cam video on YT. It's looking pretty clean imo. Going off with my initial music judging at their community performance far back, I'd say this would be a solid 4th. 5. Coppell: Everyone keeps hyping Coppell. I haven't gotten any recordings. Typically they sound great musically and I expect them to go crazy during their ballad as they usually do; visually... yeah... 6. Bell: Have mercy on my heartttttttt. [definitely does not mean anything of course ] I'm hoping they will have a great prelims run and finals run! They've made great improvements throughout the season, totally no bias saying that... I'm excited on how this program will do with the hardships that COVID struck them with and come out strong! 7. Waxahachie: Heard nothing from them yet. Wax on state years go crazy, I expect this year to be no exception. 8. Keller Central: HOOOOOOOOOO BUDDY BOA CONROE WHAT THE heck HOW DID THEY DO THAT?!?!?! And I'll just place them here just because. I don't know where else I could actually put them here, honestly they could really be put higher if I wanted to but I feel really uneasy about placing them, definitely a finalist spot. Nonetheless, excellent job KCent! 9. Haltom: I personally don't like this show's design... It's kinda too, how do I put this in the best way possible, culturally questionable. They sound alright, drill is very UIL-orientated too. It'll easy for them to clean. 10. Wakeland: WINE DARK SEA SHOW LOL. I've talked to a friend about Wakeland this year. Apparently they're not gonna have a prop on the field, which shocked me because they're doing a sea type of show and that was the first thing I thought of. I could be completely wrong but yeah wakeland 5a gods (could possibly switch w/ slc) 11. Southlake Carroll: I SAW THIS LIVE AT MANSFIELD POC AND I INSTANTLY FELL IN LOVE WITH THIS SHOW. TO ALL THE SLC KIDS, Y'ALL DID ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. THAT BALLAD WAS JUST TRANSCENDING. THIS SHOW WILL BE AMAZING TO SEE IN ST LOUIS MAN. GOD I LOVE THIS SO MUCH (could possibly switch w/ wakeland) 12. James Martin: sandman. nice. Honestly, POC screwed y'all's score so hard. I swear those judges were honestly on something. I will say this for anyone from Martin who's reading this: balance better, produce a more mature and fine sound rather than blasting horns, and clean sets more. Good luck to Martin! [note: Prosper is unfortunately NOT attending BOA DFW, but opted to do HEB Marching, BOA STL, and the UIL process instead this year. had they were, 11th or 12th (would've depended on how heb marching goes unless the weather decides to pull a 2018 marching season)]
  2. Given with what we have so far, what we've seen with other contests, and what we could expect: 1. Marcus 2. Keller 3. Wakeland 4. Prosper 5. Southlake Carroll/Keller Central 6. KCent/SLC // from here i have absolutely no clue and my marching band march madness bracket is absolutely destroyed. // 7. Timber Creek 8. Byron Nelson/Aledo 9. Aledo/Byron Nelson 10. Grapevine
  3. Marcus has definitely maintained that classic Marcus vibe this year. It'll do just fine like every other year, especially being a Nats year. Just look at how they did in 2017 and compare it with every other year after that, including 2020. [won 6A Area C, and 4th at state] They will still be able to hold their position. I completely agree with Flower Mound. 3rd place at 2020 state after that 9th place finish at SA 19, this most likely shows that 2019 was a fluke. They've definitely gotten something together.
  4. 1. Flower Mound. I had to make sure my eyes were reading this right. THE FLOWER MOUND HIGH SCHOOL MARCHING BAND IS ATTENDING HEB MARCHING. This is something you don't wanna miss. I swear to God, if this show does not win HEB Marching, God bless them at Grand Nationals. If they decide to do Wylie instead, God forbid them, then shift this up by 1. 2. Marcus. Musically and visually, they're really good this year. There is absolutely no way Keller is gonna beat them. Compared the two school's drill, this one is definitely going to Marcus. Musically... I'm leading towards Marcus but Keller will have a great chance in winning music. 3. Keller. As explained above. 4. Wakeland. 5a gods don't @ me 5. Prosper. Decent show this year 6. Timber Creek. As expected 7. Keller Central. As expected 8. Southlake Carroll 9. Aledo 10. Grapevine (don't sleep on them fr fr) 11. (if no flomo, chances are) The Colony (or switch with the colony or grapevine, really up in the air)
  5. Heard the news about Coppell... I'm hoping they still do good this year... they were starting to pick up some good traction in the last few years. I'll have to show up to a rehearsal some day and see how they're doing and compose an opinion. The same thing is happening to Pearland in Houston. Really hurts to see bands starting to get better and all of a sudden their directors leave them.
  6. Trying to be as vague as possible about both Hebron and Flower Mound but I think I can say that one program will be better than the other in certain captions... (cough cough music and visuals cough cough). I completely agree with Martin! It's great to see them again competing at DFW (at the Penn too!) and they will definitely be getting a finals spot. I heard what their closer sounds like and I'm so excited to see how far this program will get. Saw their ballad (I think) at a rehearsal, can't wait to see this under the lights at DFW (and what kind of dream they'll bring ).
  7. Redoing predictions now that we have a better understanding of what we could see in finals: 1. Hebron. (There's literally no doubt about it. Hebron. Unless Flower Mound decides to pull a 2019 and just perform their entire show on the field and destroy everyone.) Also seeing Hebron perform at a football game, I think their show would most likely win this contest. 2. FloMo (Saw a performance, if they get everything they need on the field/everything up to the ballad and clean, they will have a great chance in winning. Really depends on how they would deal with finals as they will definitely be in the top 6 in prelims and hopefully get a great finals slot to potentially win. It's also a really interesting show, a must-watch show.) 3. Marcus Yeah, they're here just by instinct and just because they're Marcus. 4. Keller Saw a performance of their part 1, and heard part 2. I'm very curious to see how this does in finals. Again, also by instinct and their music/band is still great this year. Didn't have a marching show last year, but from their Blue Lights event or whatever, they sounded amazing. Subject to be adjusted by HEB Marching Contest 5. Waxahachie They did the UIL process in 2020, and did phenomenal. I expect them to do better than ever now. Their music sounds interesting but I do not have any performances to go off on how well they will perform this. Really depends on how much they have on the field ready. We also know how well Wax does on state years! Will try to catch them at the HEB Marching Contest 6. LD Bell If they can improve and clean asap, they will have a great chance to beat Wax and/or Keller. Their show sounds pretty good so far from their community performance. I just hope their ballad will incredible if they get that down by DFW. Didn't have a marching year and HEBISD high schools are (10th-12th grade) so their numbers are quite something... Hopefully, they perform like rock-stars. 7. Coppell It's really tough to guess where they would be, somewhere between 4-7, really depends on how clean they are for DFW. They got that Mandies/Vista prop and turned it into a carousel of sorts? I hope they do amazing this season. Went to state and made finals, they will do just fine here. They will probably do better in the UIL process though. 8. Haltom Interesting show... "Year of the Dragon" except it's not even the year of dragon..? Nothing else to say about them... 9. Wakeland I honestly have no clue how good they will be. I just know that they're excellent according to everyone. Could beat Haltom? I have no clue. Go ask an expert. 10. Martin I LOVE THEIR OPENER SO MUCH. IT'S JUST SO GOOD. However, if they work more on balance as an ensemble, they will be amazing once STL happens. Their volume is spectacular. They look pretty good visually for what it is, and there's a good chance that they could place higher. Depends on how good their prelims will be. 11. Carroll yeah. carroll wooo! they're here. good luck carroll. this is from assumption and instinct. 12. Timber Creek They do great on state years and usually do fine at DFW. This will be an interesting season for them, and that they will do great at DFW. 12. Prosper Maybe they will take this spot or go higher, who knows.
  8. My predictions: 1. Hebron (higher chance imo)/Flomo 2. Flomo/Hebron [really depends on how they perform. if one can get everything completed by dfw, they win. if one focuses hard on making a clean performance, they win.] 3. Marcus/Keller 4. Keller/Marcus [again with 1st and 2nd, depends on how they do. marcus has higher chance. we'll see how this plays out with the heb marching results] 5. Waxahachie/Bell 6. Bell/Wax/Coppell 7. Coppell/Bell/Haltom [top 4 will be secured by those schools but 5-7 will be up in the air in my opinion. unless, one decides to go insane mode and cause a huge upset also i don't like how the other predictions put coppell so low. those kids are talented, even with the show they will be doing. they will honestly do just fine, as long as they have a good time] 8. Haltom/Prosper 9. Prosper/Martin/Bentonville/Wakeland 10. UP FOR GRABS TO BE HONEST 11. UP FOR GRABS TO BE HONEST 12. UP FOR GRABS TO BE HONEST [last 3 are up for grabs just because, it's really hard to predict the bottom finalists with the consistency schools will perform. also, i don't really know how most of these schools will do in 2021, explaining why the higher predictions are one or the other. i'm most confident that the higher predictions will be accurate.] Good luck to everyone coming down to the Penn for a day of Texas marching excellence! Can't wait to see who makes finals.
  9. So this comp is taking away bands away from BOA DFW huh. in other words dj, you want me to drive to mckinney huh
  10. Quite a shame to not be able to see this show now that KISD announced that their schools won't be having a competitive season. I love Coldplay!
  11. not sure if yall heard but bell tubas got contras o_o
  12. Their show concept looks really intriguing and I can't wait to see them at BOA DFW.
  13. From Euless Trinity High School Band: Intersect Personally, it looks like a follow up to Bell's (their district rival) 2019 show: Break Away.
  14. Interesting to hear about these big, big things... ??
