  1. I’ll see what I can find out. I will say that I was VERY impressed with Samia’s choreography this fall and her teaching interaction with the students.
  2. My guess is that if the WGI Houston Regional was later in the season, McCullough JH Winterguard would be more likely to perform (may be a bit too early, IMO).
  3. So, The Woodlands A and World Guard’s 2026 WGI Events look like this. Houston Regional — The Woodlands A Austin Regional — The Woodlands World San Antonio Regional — The Woodlands A and World (btw, first time at this regional in ….. a long time). WGI World Championship — The Woodlands World
  4. Well, it’s the very first week following marching season, and you know what that means in The Woodlands, TX? TWHS Winterguard Placement Auditions are THIS WEEK! Their upcoming 2026 WGI/TCGC season will be another great one to remember!!!
  5. I was there! I saw it! I was the assistant band director at Westfield (2001-2005). Great band, great times!
  6. Panel 1 Music IND - Tom Dean Music ENS - John Phillips Visual IND - Juno Orefice Visual ENS- John Howell Music GE- Andrew Cook Music GE - Jay Kennedy Visual GE - Lee Carlson
  7. Marcus will NOT be attending the San Antonio Super Regional.
  8. I’d even chip in a bit more of an entry fee in Indy to have a double panel in finals!
  9. Oh believe me, we KNOW! lol If you don’t hear anything Friday, I will at least be able to post Panel 1 assignments when we get off the field Saturday morning.
  10. It will be a random draw at the conclusion of finals. TWHS wants the Ghosts of 2018 to stay dead and buried. We’re hoping for the best. Of course, one of the advancing bands is going to draw that spot 😞🫣
  11. Well, it’s being called its own movement - 1 minute and 3 seconds of Bye Bye Blues. I like the build and vibe. It’s going to be fast-paced; and a “W”…. maybe? Sets and tune already learned and on the field. The ENTIRE design team is in The Woodlands now through Friday to produce. I like!!
  12. Who remembers how incredibly ridiculous the rain made the Area I Contest last year?
  13. Excited to have 24 great bands …. plus …. The University of Houston’s SPIRIT OF HOUSTON Marching Band in exhibition following Prelims! Join us for the 25th Anniversary Lone Star Preview! ….and, a special exhibition performance by The Woodlands HS Band. Looking forward to seeing everyone!
  14. Hi-Fi Musical selections include: “The Breeze and I (Andalucia)” - by Juan Garcia Esquivel “Powerhouse” - by Raymond Scott “Ebb Tide” - by Robert Maxwell “The Taking of Pelham One Two Three” - by David Shire “Bo Mambo” - by Billy May “Bye Bye Blues” - by Hamm, Bennet, Lown & Gray
  15. Well, I’m sitting in the UD Arena parking lot, looking at the heaviest rain of the week. Every team tonight will get to experience the nasty weather, trying desperately to keep everything as dry as humanly possible. It’s going to be treacherous for the unload, but am INCREDIBLY excited to be down on the floor with an AMAZING group of 32 young people attempting to finish a truly magical season. I hope everyone here and at home enjoys the performances tonight! GO THE WOODLANDS! GO TEAM TEXAS!!
  16. We are leaving Wednesday morning. It’s always great to talk with the other Houston-area teams, color guard instructors, and enthusiasts on our same flight and at the airports. Lots of comraderie and wonderful conversation. That’s just a warm-up though to the enthusiastic response all the guards receive coming up the tunnel after their performance runs. The WGI World Championships is a such an awesome event! Let’s go get ‘em Team Texas! Best wishes to ALL!
  17. Agreed about our Texas guards performing in San Antonio. For example, Jordan HS went from 3rd in SA seeding last week, to 23rd this week. That is a KILLER!!!!
  18. That is a good point, @jmartin1056. Over the past three seasons, the WGI Austin Regional was TWHS’ final opportunity for a seeding score. Well, this season they are attending the Southwest Power Regional and will have a scoring opportunity in the final week of the season. Hard to say what difference that will make, if any. I can safely speak for all the parents and fans here north of Houston who are enjoying every single second to experience the amazing talent that these performers exhibit on the field and floor over these past three seasons!
  19. Great analysis as always @packwick !!!
  20. TWHS was the 2004 Scholastic OPEN National Champion. 2019 was their first WORLD Class Finals appearance (14th). Since COVID (2020 & 2021), TWHS finished 3rd, 4th, and 3rd in WORLD Class (2022, 2023, and 2024). TWHS World Guard will be back in Dayton this season (April 2025)!
  21. This will be The Woodlands World Guard’s first appearance at Denton in six years. Having a late-season opportunity to improve their World Championship Prelims seeding position/score will be nice!
  22. Some of us can remember the Westfield HS Band (school opened in Fall 1981), finished second to Marian Catholic in 1985. First Texas band at GN, first Texas GN finalist. I’d say I wasn’t born yet 😂, but I was actually an oboist and color guard member at Westfield those four years.
  23. No rest for TWHS Color Guard! Back from San Antonio late this past Tuesday night, then TWHS Winter Guard placement auditions were held 36 hours later on Thursday and Friday! Can’t wait!
