Do you by chance happen to have a video of Westfield Marching band show Hemispheres? I only heard the show on CD back in the day and I always wanted to watch that show.

Way to put down the champs! Good thing you’re not a judge and I don’t know what show you were watching because they won first in visuals both prelims and finals. Great job to everyone great performances yesterday. Hanna’s experience never fails to amaze congrats on another state run! Edinburg great show happy to see you guys on a state run. Some of the results weren’t what people expected and none of us are judges. Let’s respect the results and not dog on groups. A lot of groups did amazing this year! It would be nice if area G had more going to state but it is what it is. This year the area kept it very competitive great job to everyone and good luck at state to JBA, Hanna, and Edinburg! Leander amazing performance! I heard such a great show! I’m no judge I’m just a fan but I have to say I don’t know what the director was thinking with those screens. They don’t do anything for the show but take away from the kids great marching. I don’t see the value it added at all. -

Great shows all around! JBA great picking up from where you left off last year! Keep pushing it! I know you have something special on the field and I can’t wait to see you compete against some of the top bands in the state at the Texas Marching Classic! Roma, what can I say? Other than you’re continuing to make the Valley proud that’s what a state finalist looks like! Los Fresnos wow great strides in the right direction! Your show gave me goosebumps I can’t wait to see the final product at area! All the bands that competed this weekend thank you for putting on such a great competition! -

At the end of the day it is a competition and the judges saw something in other bands that was better than both Hanna and JBA. I think JBA had a better run on Friday at BOA in my opinion. I did not see Hanna so I can’t really speak on them. I did see all the finalist for both competitions BOA and State. I feel Area G is headed in the right direction In terms of production of shows they’re changing that dynamic and not sticking to old formats as before. I see United with a new director tried something new and it worked for them and it’s great. So we are evolving and adapting to the changes like other areas. But in order to be top dawgs it takes a world of work. It is quite the difference in order to be at that level it takes every individual putting in extra work themselves in order to improve. That means lessons and extra individual practice time in order to help improve the ensemble as a whole. It’s those individual efforts that build up the team. Because everyone has the same 8 hour practice rule. So the playing field is even. Those bands in Dallas, Austin, San Antonio, and Houston are some real tough bands to beat and it’s not a fluke that any of them are in finals it’s consistency. -
Schedule for finals: 7:00 p.m. – Cedar Park H.S., TX 7:15 p.m. – Seven Lakes H.S., TX 7:30 p.m. – Cedar Ridge H.S., TX 7:45 p.m. – McNeil H.S., TX 8:00 p.m. – Coppell H.S., TX 8:15 p.m. – Pearland H.S., TX 8:30 p.m. – Round Rock H.S., TX 8:45 p.m. – Ronald Reagan H.S., TX 9:00 p.m. – Hebron H.S., TX 9:15 p.m. – The Woodlands H.S., TX 9:30 p.m. – Vista Ridge H.S., TX 9:45 p.m. – Rouse H.S., TX 10:00 p.m. – Vandegrift H.S., TX 10:15 p.m. – Flower Mound H.S., TX 10:30 p.m. – Marcus H.S., TX

I think Roma is a fantastic program! It’s so awesome to see them in finals in 5A! I do think that they are underestimated a lot at state. But I’m so glad that they just deliver and really made a statement in these last 2 cycles. It gives 6A hope that they have a chance to get there as well one day. I hope that both our Area G contenders do great it would be good to see them break into the 20’s. That would be a start to build and keep pushing next year. -

Harlingen isn’t going to state because they did not make finals. They did not qualify so your statement has no merit whatsoever. In 2002 I was marching in JBA and I saw Harlingen marching one of my favorite shows of all time spiral symmetry. I still remember it because as they got off the field in prelims at area I personally told them congrats and good luck at state because I knew they won as soon as they performed. We stayed and watched finals and cheered for Harlingen (big shout out to Donna because it was raining that year the field was muddy and they had white uniforms. Their first set was them on the ground) and all the other bands that made finals because we were just not good enough and we accepted it. At the end of the day it is a competition. At state that year we cheered and I was proud of how well Harlingen did that year because they represented our area so well they broke into the teens if I’m not mistaken. It is such a shame that you can’t show support for 2 great programs that are representing our area. Accept it and grow up! -
To everyone performing this weekend I hope all of you have amazing performances! Seniors, for some of you this is your last performance inspire your bandmates and leave it all on the field! Don’t leave an ounce of doubt that this was the best performance you have given all year! In order to make finals here you have to give it all that you have. Perfection is what it takes! But no matter what enjoy the moment! Us as audience members will enjoy every performance no matter what!

Still true today! I’ve had the opportunity to go to so many competitions across the state and witness not only other parents but band programs show respect and appreciation to other band programs despite losing to them. At the end of the day, these programs do compete and all these kids and teachers put in truly hard work which takes months to prepare. Sometimes the results aren’t what we want them to be but, we have to accept them. None of us judge yesterday’s contest and that’s then end of that. The 2 best bands in south Texas advanced and I’m glad they’re representing us! The rest of you on here should be doing the same! Be happy that we are being well represented!
