Best of Luck Madison! TWHS is still in the second round. We play this Friday 4:00 at woodforest stadium. The band will just be doing their fun songs and accompanying the highland girls dance team for a halftime show.

Ok. Um, side note- am I the only one- but the announcers intonation just reminds me of one of the characters at Disney’s haunted mansion or tower of terror.

Wow... We are bookending state... first and last.

I think there are a lot of us TW parents worried about this exact thing- first up was a very tough draw. There are so many amazing bands. I wish I knew more to understand the nuances between the scoring better- but it’s so hard to guess who will get to finals.

It’s killing me to not be there- but I’m home and will be driving other kids to school right during TWHS performance... so anyone there- give a good cheer and yell for me please!!

Waiting, waiting, waiting.... I can only imagine that the numbers are so close.... it’s taking forever to double check all the math.

Really- this.... I told my daughter to be proud of whatever place they get- all of the finalist bands were so good!! It really is just a case of small details and judge preference.

Admittedly I’m biased- but have the same surprise. I’m curious to see the scoring when it comes out- but it is what it is.. doesn’t matter where we end up tonight- we feel like the kids have done an amazing job this year and are proud of them.

I’ll be there tomorrow- probably somewhere right before 11am. I’m hoping to get there in time to see College Park perform. Buying tickets at the door so I have no idea where we will wind up sitting.

When we moved here from out of state- the band program was the biggest reason we bought a house in the school zones we bought in. I can definitely see doing that for whatever extra curricular my child was in if there was a large difference between schools programs.

Can’t wait to watch the show again this weekend. I’ve loved oak ridges show all year long and love to see it as the season has progressed. So excited for them!

I’m extremely disappointed that one of our kids would have said that- and I know our directors would say the same. Please accept when I say that that sentiment is NOT what our band and parents think of your school and the other schools Saturday night. I really enjoyed your show and all the other ones I was able to see and can’t wait to see the programs in our area continue to progress in the coming years.

I loved that she was in a bright outfit! So much easier to see her and enjoy her performance!

Does anyone have the finals schedule? We know when we perform but would love to see what other bands made finals and when they perform.

Yea... couple items-but your wife is a rockstar with all the “items” she handles for us.

I had to race out as a chaperone and didn’t get to see college park- but I loved oak ridge and thought Conroe did outstanding. Of course loved TWHS and thought they did great... wish I could stick around and see the rest tonight.

On the bus with the kids headed to the stadium... the weather is looking great! Cool but not cold... I can’t tell from the bus if we have wind though.

Hoping the rain clears up soon and the field dries up for the bands scheduled this morning. It’s wet and cold out there right now.

I honestly was so distracted by Bowie’s props and trying to figure out what they were- that I have no idea what their music or marching was like... it completely derailed me from paying attention to the performance at all.

Ok.... so I'm just barely getting a chance to sit down at a computer where I can actually type things out instead of on my phone... (sorry my hubby say's I can get long winded?) I feel like even though I've had kids in band for 6 years now, I'm just now starting to catch the bug to try and figure out what makes the difference between the good bands and the ones that are on the bubble and can't quite get to finals. When we lived in Oklahoma- we were in a band that couldn't quite get to finals very often, but now with TWHS it's kind of the opposite. I didn't get a chance to watch all the bands at Conroe because I was chaperoning the band kids, but the ones I watched- while I could see some were higher in quality than others, I can't distinguish between the lower half of the bands that got into finals and the top 3-4 bands that fell below that #10 spot. Admittedly I'm bias'd a little bit since they are another local school- but what was it that kept College Park from scoring better? Is their program just not technically difficult enough to pull off a higher score? Do I just not have the "ears" to notice the difference in the difficultly or not of the music they played? I really enjoyed their program but know I don't know enough to understand the breakdowns much.

Just saw this- Bandmomx4- Julie- Mom to 4 band kids- I did Choir in Highschool and no one wanted to follow and do choir. lol! Son- Tuba- Edmond North High (oklahoma) 2013-2016 Daughter 1- Clarinet- Edmond North 2014-2015 and TWHS 2016-2018- graduated last year. Daughter 2- Clarinet- TWHS 2017-2021- sophomore this year Daughter 3- Flute or Color Guard (starting next season as a freshman)
