  1. got back to it, didn't realize I didn't finish last night.
  2. Based on history (and some personal experience in the contest) here are some predictions to be taken with a grain of salt. I'd expect these bands to be in the top five in no particular order: Richland, Summit, Lake Ridge, Burleson Centennial, and Highland Park Richland - will have good design and interesting music. They'll have some cool visuals to go along. Summit - might be the loudest hornline you hear Saturday. They've improved their design and arrangement over the past few years, and had a successful season last year. Lake Ridge - their area is growing and the band will show it. They'll be clean in the feet and have a buttoned up and round sound. Burleson Centennial - will awesome show design, probably giving a few features to their percussion. Really, the way their show was produced last year was solid musicaaly and visually. Highland Park - will be CLEAN. They were neck and neck with Waxahachie in the beginning of last year and can't see them not holding up that standard. They'll have a good concert sound on the field, and are looking to return to State Finals this year. Also to be considered for those spots: V.R. Eaton, James Martin, and Granbury
  3. That's something to consider for BOA, how saturated can Texas become with regionals. I feel like there isn't many weekends or locations left for added contests (just off the top of my head). Maybe an earlier season San Antonio Regional?
  4. Agreed on that percussion, their website says they placed 6th in the world for scholastic class. That's a strong component for build your program around for sure...
  5. Richland's shows definitely have a cool vibe, with this last year having some jazz in it. I'd like to see them get some love in the next year!
  6. I think Burleson Centennial is on the rise. They did better than I predicted at the Mansfield contest last year, the show was tastefully designed and if they compete with a similar one I could see them doing well at a BOA event.
  7. I would agree with them, sending a band to a larger contest (especially a BOA Regional) is the better choice for exposure. And if the Austin powerhouses can't compete that opens up the contention for finals spots a bit!
  8. Never seen something like this, what a great idea!
  9. Highland Park was amazingly clean early season, but started to suffer later on due to their drill not being as dynamic as other groups. They always do well though, and shouldn't have much trouble being successful next year.
  10. Heard Lake Ridge had a good run, Mansfield and Summit go in the last block of bands (many of which I think will be fighting for a spot in the bottom of finals). Of course the area is so deep it's anyone's guess, and so much depends on how everyone's runs go. Much luck to y'all competing!
  11. Randomized Prelims Performance Order: Burleson Legacy VR Eaton Arlington N. Crowley Lake Ridge Haltom Burleson Centennial Richland Summit Class C Prelim Rankings: Richland Lake Ridge Summit Class B Prelim Rankings: Burleson Centennial Arlington VR Eaton
  12. Not sure if that's what they meant, just that they occupy those spots. I wouldn't assume so, but anything is possible.
  13. Apparently 3-8 are extremely close to each other, so finals could be super entertaining, watching them battle it out for 3rd.
  14. I'm going to try but please forgive if not correct: VISUALS: Highland Park GE: Highland Park(love me some Wine Dark Sea) MUSIC: Waxahachie GUARD: Frisco Centennial PERCUSSION: N. Forney DRUM MAJOR: Robert E. Lee
  15. Finalists in random order: Desoto North Forney SGP Frisco Centennial Legacy HS Sachse HS Waxahachie HS Mansfield HS Mansfield Summit Highland Park HS
  16. They've had a few rough years with multiple director takeovers but they had a strong feel last season, and are starting to gain numbers again.
  17. This contest has been historically on the smaller side, but last year was a jump in quality with the presence of Haltom, Highland Park, and Richland. Wondering how people feel it will shake out, and who knows who is going?
  18. I definitely think there's a possibility of CTJ being next level clean this year, what with them performing their whole show at Midland this early in the season!
  19. I'm thinking the order will look a little like for finals results 1. Waxahachie (an almost definite lock) 2-5. Could be any order of Centennial, Mansfield, Mansfield Summit, or Highland Park 6. Sachse 7. Forney 8. South Grand Prairie 9. Legacy 10. Lake Highlands Keep in mind some of these guys are on the up and up, and it's early season so my estimates could be off. But I'm interested to see how Midlo goes!
  20. One more Mansfield in there, Mansfield Summit will be there. Apparently a lot of bands are checking this stadium out with this contest in prep for 6A Area B Area, as it will be here too.
  21. The contest is this coming Saturday, September 29th! Didn't notice until I started putting in HEB predictions, but Forney and Mansfield will attending both competitions. I've seen only a couple times before, but does anyone know how they deal with logistics?
  22. Just submitted this as an event, but I agree this contest has quite a solid lineup for how small it’s been in the past.
  23. I can only reasonably predict the top three bands, those being Prosper- there's so much hype behind them this season. They seem to be doing great and I wouldn't be surprised to see them take first. Wakeland-I definitely feel like they're strong this season, with a settled in staff, and them having performed very well at their last two contests. Centennial- These guys definitely have done well in the past few years, but I found this show to be bit underwhelming. Fourth- I feel like going for this spot are Lake Ridge, Summit,Southwest, Liberty and Lone Star. None of these really have a huge edge over the other, so I believe that it will really come down to perserverance, and judge preference. Making State this year in Area B is definitely going to be an absolute blood bath, with some people calling it the most competitive area. Good luck to every band competing this weekend!
  24. I believe that pushing through the temperature barrier is going to be a huge factor at this competition, especially for those groups with early performances like Centennial and Summit. With the temperature estimated to be at a high of 59 degrees, I think that whichever band can push through that adversity will come out on top.
  25. Lake Ridge is an extremely clean band, both visually and musically. I don't know how much their show will progress in the time from now to Area, but it was enjoyable to watch!
