Finally some respek for the national champion.

Pretty much. They have seven chairs with the categories on the back of the chair. They walk around the chairs listening to London Bridge and when the music stops, they sit down and choose what they are going to judge. Occasionally, scuffles ensue when the judges attempt to force their way and sit in the chair representing their preferred choice. Of course, feelings get hurt and attitudes are affected. This accounts for many of the scoring anomalies.

I predict that a band with jaguars as their mascot is going to bring home the gold medal.

I might suggest a red, Trump-style hat. “Make Band Great Again.” With a HornRank logo on the back.

It really is. At the end of the day, it’s entertainment, not classified government secrets.

Is school that thing people do between band weekends?

I'll just say, if the rankings were purely a snapshot in time, Marian Catholic would never be ranked until the last two weeks of the season.

When do times get announced? Not seeing it anywhere

Cedar Ridge was great, LOVE the show design, the drill at the end of Niagra Falls with the building block/Empire State building form with the guard member running up through it was very cool.

It is awful. I didn't mean as that's the most important, just a sidenote. Cleanup is going to take a while. Keep Houston in your prayers.

I think I speak for everyone when I say I hope everyone has stayed safe and is still staying safe with all of the flooding and destruction, I have some friends who teach down there and it sounds like an absolute mess.  It might have put them all behind but as long as everyone is okay and they're doing what has to be done to ensure safety for the students that can go on the back burner.  

Even though the Texas bands don't have Saturday rehearsals, though, Avon won't have theirs, so they'll be at a disadvantage compared to previous years.

Yup. They'll be at a severe disadvantage to all the Texas bands that have 10-hour rehearsals every Saturday ... oh, wait.

Is Cedar Park going to be the Marcus of 5A??

We also shouldn't completely rule out the idea that the UIL Marching Band 8-Hour Rule has likely been a long-term benefit for TX bands (and bands across the country) as TX directors have had to heavily focus on their pedagogy skills and methods in order to optimize what they can get out of those 8 hours.

I for one welcome our new Avon overlords.  

Loved the design in Conroe. Wish they were attending San Antonio, would have done really well IMO. Excited to see a video at some point again.

Can't forget about Cleveland winning the NBA title AND sending a very good Indians team to the World Series, the Bluecoats winning DCI for the first time, and the Dallas Cowboys actually being good. What a time to be alive.
