  1. I had to read the book in second grade, and I've done all in my power to remove myself of that world ever since.
  2. At least you scored, right?
  3. Two words......YEAH BABY!! About time Texas had a good sports team! PRAISE BE TO HEAVEN!!
  4. Hey Sockercon, where'd you get those from? I don't know ANYONE who can make up THAT many in a few minutes!
  5. When you PROUDLY walked all the way to school with your instrument (More power to my drumming brothers) IN THE RAIN when you DID have the option of a ride. And if these are true, I'm a band FREAK! AAAAUUUUUUGGGGHHH!
  6. Nice picks, ya'll. '96 was an outstanding year as well, especially for BD and PR. I'm mad that I haven't seen too many 2000 shows (only Cadets and SCV), but also look into 2002. Cool music, and I'm a sucker for the PR in Khaki.
  7. Why? SCV marches Remo Heads and Zildjian Cymbals, but Ralph Hardimon, who has helped them out for years endorses Sabian Cymbals and Evans Heads? Why would Jim get the flak?
  8. I also heard from a Phantom alum that you pick up some funky smell after a while that doesn't get out. Yuck.
  9. What do ya'll think about DCI this year? Good shows, bad hornlines and drumlines, put forth your opinion. I am one with pretty high expectations as far as my DCI viewing pleasure, but I personally wasn't too impressed w/ San Antoinio this year. Here are some thoughts: 1:SCVs show deserves better than 9th! (At least sixth?) 2:Madison Scouts did a good show this year. Not mad at that 3:Phantom has impressed me this year. Rhapsody wasn't the best thing I've seen them do, but it's one to be pleased with (especially since they bounced back from Appassionada with this one. good job) 4:What On Earth Is Up W/ The Cadets? The Skitzo Catholic School Girl Act? From "Kill Bill" to "Alice in Wonderland" to Bob the Freakn' Builder?" They're right. This PERSONIFIES Surreal, and it creeps me out! 5:Not too thrilled about BD and Cavies this year, but I am glad the Cubs FINALLY won a game.(and Cavies)
  10. Tell me your favorite year for drum corps, and give a decent reason. Kind of like this... My personal favorite is the 1997 year. Many of the shows were amazing that year. You have the Blue Devils playing "As Time Goes By" which is an UNBELIEVABLE show, SCV playing Bernstein's "On the Waterfront" (which could have been a legendary show in my opinion), an awesome PR drumline, and the best Madison Scouts show I've seen to date. (Oh, yeah, and them Cavies are in SIXTH, right where they belong!) Go ahead and give it a go!
  11. Nah, man, Pirates of Lake Mendota! Blue Devils have a K/A show in 1997, too. That's one of the few BD shows I would compose for my band when I grow up.
  12. In our school, the percussion section (I mean line AND pit) are the best and hardest working. Funny how that works out.(trying not to be self-serving) Those tpts DO give us a run for their money, though!
  13. VAAAAAAAANNNNGUUUUUUUUAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRD! go vanguard!
  14. I would be hard pressed to find anybody in my school-no-DISTRICT who liks UIL. Yuck!
  15. lol. goofy stuff. I HATE Drumline (sry, but couldn't get that in on the " i hate drumline" thing.
  16. When you can honestly say you've practiced more than you've played Halo 2.
  17. Shame on thee, senor.
  18. Ow! There's one gut shot to the Scouts! For all you Scout lovers, listen to the 1997 show (watch it if you can!) I'm not one to like them, but that show is COOL!
  19. Indeed.
  20. Not only that, percussion scores aren't that hot either. There are some great drummers up there in the Vanguard, but Murray Gusseck, who was once just head guy for them, is now also Caption Head since Jim Casella is gone (I heard a few reasons why, but I'm not too sure what I can believe). It's a lot of stuff to handle, and I played some of his work in WGI, and it doesn't add up to Jim's work. Honestly, no one's writing can compare to Jim Casella's. It's just the best. Period.
  21. Heard about that. Some people that fell were browner than a Hershey bar.
  22. Beyond BELIEF! We entered our fifth losing season, we've been out of Champs since about 1997, and we lost our homecoming game 40-0. I can't wait to her one worse
  23. I Love X Box. Just got it a few months ago, and I'm happy Favorite game...anything where I can shoot something. Preferably them little Grunts on Halo 2.
  24. Even though I love it, I have to say West Side Story. Good stuff, but I guess I'm not alone.
  25. This one just occured to me. I don't know about ya'll, but when I see those DVDs and VHSs of corps, I look at them and feel inferior, like I'll never be that good. That may be why.
