  1. still waiting to see the prop team, guard and dance uniforms - I doubt we will see our entire team outfits till Austin - only 10 days to go
  2. I agree - doubt anyone has ever been expelled for posting on the site - I have a great deal of respect for our director and the program and consider him a friend, so if he shares something and says - don't put that on TXBands, or you may have gone too far with that one - I always oblige his requests. it is all intended to be in good fun
  3. I tend to ensure that I state up front, that I do not represent the program and am generally going rouge with my statements and that they are purely mine and not that of the organization - that was easy to do with no kids in the program, but I have to be a parent again for the next 4 years. I still tended to get the occasional call to "take that down" when I get a bit overzealous. always enjoy the conversation on this site. everyone has their allegiance to a program - but we can generally get past that (but I still get the occasional head slap)
  4. the director knows who I am and keeps me in line when I get outside the boundaries - I get the occasional slap upside the head
  5. I know the feeling - I was in for 4 years - out for 4 years (doing Alumni fundraising) and now back in the fold with a freshman - if anyone has does not have a connection - let me know - I will make sure you get a shirt and find a way to get it to you
  6. sent you an email with a copy of the shirt order - let me know if you did not get it
  7. might need an RSVP process - could get interesting - maybe a cover charge to get in
  8. I know - that is a concern for many - going to FaceBook means that people lose the ability to hide behind screen names and have to be yourself - I lost my smoke screen a few years ago when the director called me out. I hope everyone continues to post both here and on the facebook site - I am excited about how fun this will be and will bring everyone together I am more nervous about the watch party on Friday night in Indy - I committed to buy the first round of drinks on this site so I am nervous to post that - I know that CTJ parents alone have more than 150 family members that bought tickets. that could hurt - I was planning on 20 people or so .
  9. seeing more from TWHS - we should break 200 by the end of the day
  10. CTJ, Leander and Vandy have hit the page big - we now have almost 160 members in 36 hours - Round Rock, TWHS and Hebron not so much - but I sent the facebook info along with the shirt order forms to the directors yesterday, so we shall see if we can get some of them on board as well - remember to share on the site - don't just read and like - get involved - let's make this fun
  11. the #teamtexas site now has more than 130 members in about 24 hours - Leander social media is quick and to the point - great job - share with anyone you know that follows our Texas bands -
  12. the order form went out today to the 5 other programs - just hope they all participate. we distributed more than 1,200 shirts for the 2016 event
  13. certainly - i invite anyone in these bands or any Texas Band to join the facebook page - the idea is that every one of the programs can post updates on a their activities leading up to and through grand nats - I want to create a place that we could all celebrate and root for all the team Texas bands at Grand Nats - the more the merrier
  14. we are working on a way for order or purchase via the facebook page - will cost a pit more to ship them to you. will let you know -
  15. thanks for the update - we don't get much info on Carmel - how is Avon's show looking this year - Just asking for a friend
  16. https://www.facebook.com/groups/2376727765922126/?ref=group_header
  17. just search - "#teamtexas 2019 Grand Nats" on facebook - it will ask for school and I can approve - hope we have a huge following
  18. I do what I can - invite all your Leander friends/parents - I am sending the site out the the #teamtexas shirt orders later today to the 6 directors
  19. Gang I have created a facebook group for the 2019 Grand Nats trip for the 6 Texas Bands - for those that are attending or following a program that is attending, search for "#TeamTexas 2019 Grand Nats" on Facebook - it will ask you what program you are affiliated with - but it is not limited to just those 6 programs. I created this site so all 6 programs could share highlights of their Grand Nats trip in November - post pic or videos or fun moments with the program. we can also use this to post info on our gathering on Friday as well as the #TeamTexas shirts if you are interested - the picture on the profile is the TeamTexas shirt front with a 19 on the back. we took the school names off of the back in an effort to reduce costs. I will post order info in the next few days if any are interested in ordering - the info is going our to the directors of the 6 programs to order today. CTJ is placing the order - but are selling them at cost - our goal is to fill Lucas Oil with as many of these shirts as possible - we hope to see the eagle land in Texas in November. Looking forward to another great Season of Texas Bands
  20. correction - a piece of the same music is being used - it is a sequel to the 2017 forest through the trees show - a number of the songs are unique to this show - such as Image and Can't wait to be king - to name a few
  21. San Joaquin Valley - in a small town - Lodi, Califormia - spent a great deal of summers in Eureka with family
  22. it is a shame that California has decimated the fine arts/marching arts - when I was a kid in Northern California, I was provided a baritone and an instructor in the 4th grade. by the time I got to High school I was proficient on multiple instruments. Texas introduces kids to music in the 6th grade. I have had multiple conversations with the director at my alma mater as we are a sponsor of their program and have been for 20 years. when I was in High school we had to pay $20 for uniform cleaning and buy a pair of black shoes for our uniform. today they have to fund everything, they have to raise money to buy new uniforms, the district provides buses for football games but nothing else. Their instruments are old and beat up and there is no money from the district to repair or replace. They had the same uniforms for 22 years and only got new ones after a multi-year fundraiser with the exception of a few areas with strong local support, marching arts are dying in CA - surprising since you have some great DCI groups just an hour from where I grew up (SCV, BD)
  23. I predict another Jaguar win - you pick the school
