I agree, however Vista has not been in many contests (only 1 so far) where they are scored vs. other bands and that was very early at BOA Austin. When that happens they tend to fall out of the conversation loop and drop in the rankings. Interesting that this year's BOA Austin was the best finish placement in history for Vista Ridge at that contest (3rd in Finals). Will be good to see them in contest again and see how they do!

With Area D and Area H only 3 miles apart I think I will go to D for Prelims and H for Finals! 2 Areas in one day live, Yea!

Yea, that would have pissed me off as well. Sorry for the confusion, should have been clearer. I saw some postings with the placement for Vista so took the results of the Tie Breaker from that information.

So far I have only seen the results from the Advanced Large group. Coppell won for the 2nd year in a row and Vista Ridge and Vandegrift tied for 2nd but based on Social Media Postings it looks like Vandegrift received the tie breaker so they got 2nd and Vista 3rd with Hebron 4th and Cedar Park 5th to round out the top 5. If anyone has the full recap and ordinals for the contest please post them.

State Gold Medal in 6A in 2018? I think that counts....

In a email today from General Effect Media they listed all the States with the number of Bands by state attending BOA competitions in 2023 (665 Bands total). I thought it would be interesting to find the weighted midpoint location in the US for the attending Bands. I used the Website "geomidpoint.com" and plotted the Lat. and Long. for each state capitol city with the weight being the number of attending Bands in that State. I found the closest Major Cities to the midpoint are Little Rock & Memphis. The midpoint itself is the town of Melbourne Arkansas. My main question on this is for LeanderMomma as I think this is not far from her home. Was the location you selected for your move out of Texas planned based on being close to the center of the BOA Band World? 🤪List of Bands by State from GEM:

I remember some rainy day competitions for BOA Austin, mostly in the late morning and afternoon and the earlier bands didn't have to warm-up and/or perform while dealing with the weather. May be another good reason to go early.

Crown was unreal in the dome, just amazing! Ovations in the middle of the show. The crowd response was electric! I am pulling for crown to pull out the upset and take first, however the execution of BD is so hard to beat.

BK or the Crossmen, who wins the battle for 12th. I saw both live and they both gave fantastic performances. I am leaning towards BK. Your Thoughts?
