  1. Watch for the long bomb Rifle tosses near the end of the Invictus Show. Wow! Just insane and so much fun!
  2. Just saw this petition getting passed around called "Save the Color Guard": https://sign.moveon.org/petitions/round-rock-color-guard-gets-to-keep-their-equipment?share=37b2b3f7-c859-492f-881b-bae6d3d3daa0&source=email-share-button&utm_medium=&utm_source=email
  3. Sorry for the typo, it's Reagan for 3rd place in 2002. I corrected the original post. Would be a cool trick though for Bell! 🤪
  4. Bit of ancient history here but Carmel also did come down to SA in 2002. 1st: 89.5 - Carmel 2nd: 89.25 - LD Bell 3rd: 87.9 - Reagan
  5. Rouse has my heart and such a great show and so well performed! Cedar Park is just a Beautiful Machine, so so so clean! I would not like to be a judge on this one. They are both gold in my eyes.
  6. Great Job Forney! Loved it, definitely a crowd favorite and one of my favorites! Was very clean and I see a top 1/2 of finals on this one possible. The joy and excitement shown by the band after the performance was sooooo genuine and fantastic to see!
  7. Fantastic job Forney in a very stacked competition! Great trajectory for the future and for finals in the years to come!
  8. I thought Round Rock had a great run and are defiantly in the running for Finals and possible top 1/2.
  9. Thanks and I stand corrected. Just also found that although It refers to 1105 for State it does say disqualification."Performance regulations as listed under Section 1105 shall apply to the state marching band contest with the following exception: Any band that leaves the field in less than five minutes or fails to complete its performance in eight minutes shall be disqualified."
  10. I stand corrected, Found this, although It refers to 1105 for State it does say disqualification. "Performance regulations as listed under Section 1105 shall apply to the state marching band contest with the following exception: Any band that leaves the field in less than five minutes or fails to complete its performance in eight minutes shall be disqualified."
  11. Here is what the UIL Rules Section 1105 (Region and State) say: (1) Performance Time. Each competing band shall occupy the football field for not less than five nor more than eight minutes. Any band that leaves the field in less than five minutes or fails to complete its performance in eight minutes shall be penalized one rating. (2) Movement to Field Position. The contest chair will determine the ready position each band will assume prior to entering the field of competition. The position shall provide efficient and prompt access to the football field without interfering with other bands as they perform. This location will be clearly described in the marching contest packet. (3) Official Time. The official time for each band will be kept according to the following: (A) The contest chair will designate an official timekeeper. (B) In order to allow ample time for the judges to complete their critiques, bands will be scheduled with five minutes between performances and a maximum of fifteen minutes per band. (C) Bands may use the five minutes prior to their performance in any way they deem appropriate in order to assume their starting position and prepare for the beginning of their show. Activities may include warm-up and/or cadence. (D) Each band will be announced with 45 seconds remaining on the 5-minute clock. The beginning of their announcement will indicate that the performance time will begin in 45 seconds. (E) The actual timing and adjudication for the show will begin at the end of the five minutes. (F) At the conclusion of each band’s performance the post script will be read while the band will have two minutes to exit the field and clear the marching surface of all equipment, instruments and props. The use of either instrumental or verbal cadence is optional. A band that fails to be clear of the field (outside the sidelines or endlines) or continues to use instrumental or verbal cadence at the end of the two minutes will be disqualified. (G) A band leaving equipment or instruments on the sideline in such a manner that these items impede the movement of the next band into its starting position will be subject to penalty in accordance with Subchapter E.
  12. Wow, brutal killing of Grandma in Midlands Show 🫣. But otherwise a fun show and and good performance!
  13. Yes, 15 Min. total. 5 to get on the field and setup, 8 min. to perform (they can start early but can't go over. What is early dose not get judged) and 2 min to get off the field.
  14. Love to see you watching and to get your comments, always well thought out and said!
  15. With the kid's also watching these threads I think it is always a good habit to find the positive and not stress the negative in what you are watching. These are all fantastic bands and the effort put in is top notch!
  16. With the theme "From Chaos" the Music had some dissident parts and offsetting timing that was intended and could sound off but from what I heard was very well done. Great performance!
  17. 14 to finals this year. Also will be a top 1/2 and bottom 1/2 for finals (unlike Area).
  18. Loved the Visual of the Shark Fin going through the waves to the Jaws theme! Great show and it was performed very well!
  19. Watching on a 65 inch TV via ROKU and looks less than 480 resolution and very skippy frame rate, around 20 FPS. Box 5 is much better on the TV. I sent a note to Note to NFHS Support to log the issue.
  20. I feel very bad for the Area that only 3 bands for 5A Area A get to go to State because of the Split to two different locations for the Area Contest. One more band should have been able to go to State and was not given the opportunity because of this decision. I hope whoever made this decision for the Area never does it again or at least makes it a even split so with 10 at each 2 bands at each competition can go to state.
  21. Not the ones showing placement only but the ones with the actual score from each Judge (1 to 1000 points for each).
  22. I remember chaperoning with Vista Ridge at BOA Dallas in 2012 and then again at BOA Austin in 2013 and the same thing happened and did not do well enough to make finals. The heavy rain has a large affect on the band it's a shame for the band to not be able to present fully as they are able. But with these things the bands have to do the best they can under the circumstance. Churchill can hold their heads high on a great performance and doing so even with the rain. They still also ranked well in the competition and that is quite a accomplishment given the rain!
  23. Fun drone view video of Vista Ridge’s practice last night!
