Oak Ridge has had a separate JV band for years. Though I think only in the last few years they have made a separate show for football games that involves the entire band so the jv feel more involved instead of just used for props/sound system/shadowing in case of absences, etc. I remember it was a huge issue when I was attending there when we were going through an explosion of growth, they would write the show months in advance before finding out how many people were enrolled in band for the coming year and while the show was written for like 250ish people there was like over 350 in band so a lot of people got left out and forced to be in the JV and at the time there was no separate show for them so the parents complained a lot in the meetings. Long story short, I think it helps make the program better to have a Varsity/Junior Varsity split, leaving the most skilled to complete but make sure to have a separate show for the JV to participate in or else many will feel discouraged and quit.

Totally agree with the best salute going to Oak Ridge and Vista Ridge. They are pretty similar and were my favorite to look at. (TWHS was a close second)

Considering that this is Oak Ridge’s first time ever making state, and just 2 years ago was their first time ever making just area finals (I think), it is so cool to see them that close to making finals at state.

Really? Like who? None of the results surprise me personally. Though I’m cringing at the thought that if there wasn’t one judge giving Round Rock a 34, TWHS wouldn’t have made finals and they’ve always been a “lock”.

Soooooo those who have the full results due to having connections.....would one of y’all be an absolute DARLING and share because I can’t wait another 20 hours

I had a mini heart attack. For a second I thought the Woodlands wasn’t going to be in finals. Their reward for having to perform first in prelims is to perform last in finals

Ah! Hardcorebandfan! In my caffeine withdrawal haze, I didn’t notice their username. I was just ready to bring my claws out to defend Dan. On an unrelated note, this is my first time steaming with Box5 and I don’t seem to like it compared to Flomarching. Maybe the issue is on my end but watching all the bands in the last block I'm not seeming to enjoy their performances as much as usual. I just feel that non of them sound as good as they were at BOA. Are any of y’all having box5 issues?

^^^^ I agree with all of the above, except Timber Creek being “underrated”. They have been great and as a result they have been mentioned/hyped plenty of times. Generally the DFW bands get talked about a lot. The amount of pages for the 6A Area B thread is testament to that.

I wouldn’t bet against that.

Congrats to all finalists and state advancers!! Even if you didn’t get the placements you wanted, take pride in knowing that you played and matched your heart out and this experience will only make you stronger. Congrats to Oak Ridge for making their first state appearance!! Just 2 years ago was their first time appearing in area finals. They have certainly come a long way.

Sorry for the waaaay late reply. But yeah TWHS has always had a good football team in recent memory. When playing against them, it was never a matter of who was going to win, but by how much they would win by

YASS. However, spicy food gives me the hiccups, so as to not irritate those around me with my never ending-almost upchuck of my food, I must eat the jalepenos with a side of nachos in solitude

Saturday needs to get here sooner. The anticipation is killing me.

I’m glad to hear it! I will always support my alma mater first and foremost, but Grand Oaks is the closest high school to me so I want them to do very well. GO GRIZZLIES!
