  1. Their classification seems to be a bit confusing. On the Region UIL schedule, it said they are 5A Non-Varsity, so even by UIL standards they are 5A.
  2. Awesome! Would you be able to tell us of any highlights you’d like to mention or your thoughts on who has a shot at making state? I’m especially curious of how your band is doing.
  3. Is anyone here going to be watching region 9 today? I’m going go see if I can make it, but most likely not.
  4. But I just realized, College Park was barely ahead of Oak Ridge in finals, and what hurt Oak Ridge was that their GE was lower than CP’s and Cy-Fair’s but all three of their visual and music scores were very very close, with OR’s music score topping them both. Since UIL only focuses on visual and music (please correct me if I’m wrong about that) then Oak Ridge would be on par with College Park. Looks like the Conroe ISD trio will reign supreme in this area and it will be a battle on who will take the #1 spot. This is getting interesting....
  5. If you had posted this before Lone Star Preview, I would have thought you were crazy to put CP in front of TWHS, but seeing how SUPER clean they were, and knowing that UIL doesn’t care about GE (which would favor TW) I can see College Park topping them.
  6. Cityscapes, I’ve always enjoyed and respected your predictions. Your opinions are unbiased and logical, going off of what you see and not just hearsay.
  7. Wait- THE Allen High School band?? The one with like over 800 people?? I didnt know that was the band y’all were talking about. I’ve always wanted to see your shows in person!
  8. I have only seen TWHS, CPHS, and ORHS, but I feel they are almost certainly locks (especially the woodlands, because duh) I haven’t seen North Shore this season but they are always really good. For Tomball, I’ve never seen their performances ever before so I can’t give any judgment on them but I have heard good things about them. For the others, I haven’t heard anything whatsoever so I’m guessing that none of them would make state but I always welcome a surprise!!
  9. Detailed scores are now posted (results at bottom of page): http://www.twhsband.org/event-schedule.html Or I might just be the only weirdo that obsesses over the details.
  10. I immediately thought of them as well. Also since College Park did really well yesterday I’d add them as a possible candidate. Maybe Pearland or SFA. Oooooohhhhh everyone is doing so well this season, it’s so exciting!!
  11. Based on everything I’ve seen and heard, this is a pretty good prediction. The only thing is that a lot of bubble bands are on par with Seven Lakes so a multitude of different bands could take the last few spots.
  12. I like the idea of bands using unused props from past bands. I used to wonder what happened to all the detailed and beautiful props used in each show and would think how much of a waste of all that money and equipment required to make them if they just got thrown out. And not to sound lame and mushy, but seeing bands use each other’s props shows how connected the bands are and that they aren’t just competing AGAINST each other, but WITH each other.
  13. Oooohhhh so the drum line and auxiliary scores are their own thing. I was confused about that when I saw last year’s score sheet.
  14. I’m surprised that College Park beat Oak Ridge and almost matched Cy-Fair since CP was way behind them two weeks ago at BOA. They’ve definitely worked hard during that time, or perhaps their BOA performance was just a bad run for them.
  15. Oh cool! I didn’t get to seem them a couple weeks ago since they don’t make BOA finals and hoped they’d do well. They are really good musically so I can see them winning music caption.
  16. Also, it looks like the Cy-Fair band is hanging out at the Woodlands Mall until they perform
  17. Is that the order of what place they all got in prelims?
  18. Finals Schedule: 7:15 Grand Oaks 7:30 Klein 7:45 Terry 8:00 Willis 8:15 Spendora 8:30 William B. Travis 9:00 College Park 9:15 Brazoswood 9:30 Oak Ridge 9:45 Klein Collins 10:00 Cy-Fair 10:15 Exhibition: The Woodlands 10:30 Finals Retreat 10:45 Awards Presentation
  19. Soooooo the only change is to add a really long break after only the 3rd band to perform...?
  20. Oh cool!! I didn’t know Grand Oaks would be doing anything outside UIL regional! Now that I’m in their feeder zone I’d love for them to do well. And there’s several bands here I’ve never seen perform before! I’ll definitely try to make this one. I think that 1st place will be a battle between Cy-Fair and Oak Ridge, with Brazoswood and College Park being the next two. While I’ve seen all the Klein Schools at some point in my life, I’m not sure how the other smaller schools will fair against them so I can’t predict anything beyond 1st-4th. And I can’t wait to see TWHS exhibition performance, I’m curious on how much they’ll have improved since BOA.
  21. I’ve looked on their website and everything still says “COMING SOON”. With it being less than a week away and having no lineup and there apparently being so few bands this year, I wonder if they’ll cancel it. Does that ever happen?
  22. Thank you for your input as always! I totally agree with what you said about Reagan’s guard; as a whole the guards aren’t usually especially impressive in this state so I end up just focusing on the band and ignore the guard but for Reagan, I couldn’t keep my eyes off the guard because they were just sooooo good!! They really enhanced the bands performance. Also, I love your thoughts on Oak Ridge and Seven Lakes, they have always been “bubble bands”and perhaps maybe in time they can grow to become real contenders. I know that until a few years ago no one knew who Oak Ridge was, and they always struggled to make finals even in local competitions so to be only a few points behind bands like The Woodlands or Reagan is very exciting and I’m hoping it’s not a fluke or that the eventually full split with Grand Oaks will bring them downhill.
  23. Only 14?? So only 4 bands won’t be in finals? Unless I’m remembering wrong and they take less than 10 for finals here.
