  1. Will be harder to make Area Finals than making State, percentage wise at least
  2. As far as I know.. Region 13: ? Region 17: 9 Region 23: 12 Region 27: 12
  3. Region 23 is sending 12 bands to area. Anyone know how many Region 13 has sent?
  4. WOW! Can I just say that I was really impressed with some of the bands here today. Morton Ranch. They started slow early in the season, but they really have been working hard. Not sure if Area Finals is a possibility with the quality bands in this area, but they have come a long way. Cinco Ranch had a couple of electronic issues, but overall their show seemed very well executed. I did feel like the ending was too abrupt. Seven Lakes..wow that show has come so far since Friendswood. I am in love with it. To anyone who has yet to see it, you definitely should!!! This is my personal favorite. James E. Taylor's show concept was made right from the start with the Ying and Yang. The woodwinds have some pretty difficult parts, but for the most part it sounded pretty clean. I loved the Joyride ending. Tompkins keeps improving every single year. This year is no different. A couple of trumpet heros sticking out at times, but they look really clean. Their show definitely looks like one of the easier ones out of the other bands I mentioned, but they execute it pretty well. Really excited to see how this Area shakes out.
  5. Can't comment on any region performances, but I will be going the Region 23 UIL contest. Really want to see how Seven Lakes and Tompkins' shows are coming along.
  6. UIL has finally updated the results so it now shows that Clear Lake got straight 1s.
  7. Sounds great! On the website, Clear Lake's results weren't posted. Thanks for the confirmation! 35 bands is now looking like a real possibility!!
  8. The number of bands advancing to area in each region so far.. Region 17: 8 out of 9 (Clear Lake's results have not been entered(?)) Region 27: 12 out of 14 Already 20 bands. At this rate, we will be advancing AT LEAST 5-6 bands to state. The remaining regions (13 and 27) should produce at least 14 bands, if we are going off past UIL region results. 7 bands to state looks doable. Super excited for this upcoming week!!
  9. I do believe Langham Creek, Seven Lakes, and Tompkins should be put in the mix as well.
  10. Anyone see Friendswood/Seven Lakes/Tompkins shows in October? I've been trying to catch their performances, but have never found the time.
  11. The fact that there is no one band that dominates this area makes this a very interesting competition. I cannot wait to see what happens. What I do believe is that Cy Fair, James E. Taylor, and Clear Brook have separated themselves from the crowd thus far.
  12. Reflections: Congratulations to Reagan for winning their second BOA Conroe Championship in a row. They have been rejuvenated with new life and are here to stay. Cy Fair made their first BOA regional final appearance. Great show. The technicality that resides within each movement is insane. New uniforms are looking great. Friendswood placing 19th is a real shocker. Although it did seem like a lot of their electronics were not working. And incorrect prop staging. That will get better over time. Seven Lakes placing 14th with the visual tear they had in the beginning of one of their movements is actually pretty astounding. Overall, I loved the show. You can clearly see various personalities of the ensemble within each movement. Oak Ridge, gosh, that opener is just beautiful. Nothing else to say. Hendrickson's show is really coming along. The theme is simple yet effective. Their ballad was gorgeous. The 3D glasses go well with the uniforms. Timber Creek. 11th place really hurts. But their show is really unique. They are on the rise.
  13. Cannot wait for Conroe. Lots of bands debuting their show for the season. Expecting lots of energy, enthusiasm, and surprises.
  14. Very interesting predictions. I do believe Friendswood has a very good chance to final. Cy-Fair is another band that definitely has the potential to final. These are two schools that beat out Oak Ridge, College Park, and Brazoswood at San Antonio a year ago. However it is still early in the season, and some bands have shows made for the long run. My prediction is that at least one school that did not make finals at BOA Conroe a year ago will show up and surprise.
  15. Cypress Falls has dropped out due to a football game. Very sad.
  16. Based on the results of BOA Austin and Friendswood, here are the bands I think will make finals/have a shot at finals. Keep in mind I am only listing bands that competed to Austin or Friendswood. locks Hendrickson Reagan TWHS Winston Churchill CTJ finalist contenders oak ridge seven lakes pearland clements (if they can clean their drill, they will be locks. their music is incredible.) dawson
  17. CTJ's "Flashdance" is truly stunning and unique. It definitely not something you see everyday. I think you will all enjoy it once you see it.
  18. Any videos of Hendrickson online yet? I've been wanting to see their show!

  20. 7.5 point seems like an abnormally large amount of point deductions. But would not be surprised if they got a penalty. They took a long time getting off that field.
  21. Cypress Falls from Houston is considering.
  22. Absolutely love Reagen's opener and ballad.
  23. My top picks: 1) SFA 2) Seven Lakes 3) Clements
  24. I have got to say that the Leander Band is killing it right now. Their opening hit reminds me of CT Johnson's from last year. I saw their encore at BOA Austin and it was simply electric. I am extremely excited to see them at San Antonio in a couple of weeks. Wonderful band sound, nice kids.
  25. My prediction is Duncanville finishing first and Haltom at second. The Duncanville Band sounds phenomenal this year.
