  1. So refreshing to see schools like Cy Fair and Seven Lakes have amazing performances after their setbacks from hurricane harvey!!
  2. Add Claudia Taylor Johnson to the list of bands that have performed in 4 BOA Finals in one year!
  3. Did CTJ or Reagan not place in the top 6?
  4. James Bowie..unbelievable. I loved their show so much. Can't imagine the heartbreak those kids must be feeling, however there is nothing to be disappointed about. They have had a spectacular year. Their future holds so much promise.
  5. Oh now I see, Whitesboro did not advance.
  6. Is it true Whitesboro didn't make it to the Semifinals?
  7. Hebron has a lot to be confident about. They are a known UIL State 6A Medalist. They have established themselves and separated themselves from the crowd over the past couple of years. And their show this year was very well designed. It even rivals their product from last year. But for Cy Fair, a band that has never made State Finals and is up and coming, they do not have a lot of previous history to go off of. I'm not trying to say name is a huge factor or even a factor at all when judges are deciding the ten finalists. But what I do know is that Hebron is a common name the judges know about compared to Cy Fair. What I think will happen is that Hebron will not be as high as it should place in prelims due to their scheduling, but they will final. That is a pretty safe bet.
  8. I really hope Cy Fair makes finals. Their show is up there. Only thing that worries me was their early performance time.
  9. Why do I have this nagging feeling that Leander is going to overtake Tarpon Springs? And that Texas will have at least two medalists? That's just me. I love Avon and Tarpon and William Mason, don't get me wrong. But I especially love the crop of bands that are making the trip to Indy this year.
  10. Really enjoyed Fredricksburg's show.
  11. I really don't think Cypress Falls will place as high as the other BOA SA finalists, maybe that is just me. I absolutely love the rock and roll/jazzy feel to their show, and they are able to take a common show theme that many other schools use and mold it differently to fit their specific strengths. However, (this is just me), I do not feel the same dynamic contrast in their show compared to the other finalists. But I could be wrong and the judges may say something different. Can't wait for the next couple of days!!
  12. Oh, I didn't notice LKendrick's post.
  13. Recaps are already posted. Wow. Cedar Ridge was just outside of finals. LD Bell was in the same situation too.
  14. 1. Flower Mound (93.30) 2. The Woodlands (91.25) 3. Leander (90.85) 4. Claudia Taylor Johnson (89.70) 5. Hebron (89.65) 6. Marcus (89.60) 7. Vandegrift (89.30) 8. Ronald Reagan (88.25) 9. Cedar Park (87.65) 10. Round Rock (85.90) 11. Winston Churchill (84.90) 12. Hendrickson (84.20) 13. Keller (83.80) 14. Cypress Falls (82.40) Outstanding Music: Flower Mound Outstanding General Effect: Flower Mound Outstanding Visual: Flower Mound
  15. In all seriousness (saw this on social media), but why have TWHS drum majors historically been females? Nothing against those decisions, but I wondered if anyone knew.
  16. My point exactly. And while I was overall unimpressed with Clear Brook's show compared to many other Area E bands (just my opinion), Clements has definitely elevated themselves over from last year. They are executing a more difficult show better. Attending out of state super regionals should not meant to be looked down on,
  17. Very interested in this Cypress Falls and their growth the past couple of years. 1. Attended BOA Atlanta Super Regionals in 2013 and 2015 2. Made finals in 2013 and 2015 3. Made a name for themselves 4. Kids in the program know what it is like to advance to finals in a Super Regional and are eagerly craving for more 5. 2016 they make BOA SA finals behind the great reputation they've built themselves at Atlanta as well as their hard work ethic. Anyone feel more up and coming bands should do the same? Make a name for themselves by attending a relatively easier Super Regional, at the same time exposing the kids to the experience of making finals and placing well, and then following that up by attending BOA SA and see the program growth? I think this method is more effective than attending BOA SA as an up and coming band every year. But that is just me.
  18. Gotta give some love to Rouse. They've entered into a whole new level this year. Results aren't always indicative of that, but the performance definitely was. I hope they place well.
  19. I was just about to say^. Watch out for Cy-Fair. They aren't really on anybody's radar, but I think they will surprise. Really, REALLY excited to see where they can take this years show. They've got as good of a chance as Coppell, Hendrickson, Westlake, and Vista IMO.
  20. Judging from their Area video, CTJ looks wayy more cleaner both musically and visually. I think a top 5 finish is in place for them.
  21. I think anytime you have to choose 10 finalists from a pool of 40, those 10 finalists are all worthy of advancing to state. This is a characteristic unique to Area E because of its sheer size.
  22. Thoughts on tonight: Cy Fair's show was extremely well executed. Couple more weeks of cleaning and it is definitely UIL State (finals?) ready. They are fun to watch. That drumline really gets into it. Clements! Music is unbelievably played. Marching has really been cleaned. Friendswood, the resurgence. From 19th at Conroe to State, I knew their show would come in full swing. Seven Lakes. Still one of my favorites. I do think going on first was really bad for them, but they sounded great at finals. Loved the energy. Definitely a state level show. James E. Taylor. It was tough going on after Cy Fair, but I thought they really held their own. Their marching looked really pristine. Another show I would have loved to see at state. Overall, this Area E finals is a tough one. I did in fact feel that Seven Lakes and James E. Taylor could have replaced 2 other bands that made state, but will not mention those two. Nevertheless, Congratulations to all bands!!
  23. Would love to see Westwood go to state again.
