  1. Friendswood out of the competition because of their UIL Marching Contest and football game.
  2. I'm pulling for a Hebron finish over Marcus at this regional. I will be traveling to the Allen Eagle Stadium this friday to watch their show at halftime and then traveling to BOA Arlington to see some of the finest bands in Texas. From what I've heard about the Hebron band, they have something really special over there this year.
  3. I believe you are referring to the 13th place at Conroe for James E. Taylor. I was actually at that event! I was expecting them to make finals this year given that this year's crop at Conroe was not as competitive as I thought it would be. Schools like Cy Fair and Morton Ranch seem to be geared more towards UIL competitions than BOA. But I do agree, Taylor is in a pretty good position this year compared to last year.
  4. My top 3 in alphabetical order: CTJ Harligen O'Connor Also regarding the loss of brass talent and the personal tragedy: the johnson band program is very deep. They have new members step up every single year, more than capable of continuing the Ctj legacy. As for the personal tragedy, if anything it would motivate the band members to keep moving forward and be successful this season. If there's one thing that you would not want as rival band to ctj, it is to give them a purpose. A purpose to work even harder than last year. Unfortunately the purpose stemmed from the tragedy, but i do believe that Johnson will be just as dominant this year, if not more, than last year.
  5. I really think Clements and Seven Lakes have a shot too. While I haven't seen Seven Lakes perform just yet - I'm watching them this Thursday - I believe the Clements band has a really good chance at taking the music caption. They sound phenomenal this early in the season. It just seems like year in and year out they are competitive. The same could be said about Seven Lakes. Nevertheless, I can't wait to see how this all plays out.
  6. I expect Clements, Friendswood, Stephen F. Austin, and Seven Lakes to be contenders for the caption awards and 1st place. It's going to be interesting seeing these bands battle it out for the top spots. I'll be in the stands that day.
