  1. Would not be at all surprised to see the captions and placements in the top 3 be totally different in finals. Reagan and CTJ are in much better time slots too, but Cedar Ridge's show is phenomenal.

  4. Wow, Reagan was really good. Much better than the NEISD stream on Tuesday, really got to hear how the music came together today. Some challenging technical passages that were executed very well, and visually although the drill is still reminiscent of their recent shows, they're matching that with some great moments that really wow you. Can't wait to see this again in finals.
  5. LD Bell was quite good! They sound really solid and had some nice technical moments. It wasn't the most amazing show I've ever seen from them, but it's a decent production that I think will do well this season.
  6. Marcus has always maintained that lovely symphonic sound on the field and this year is no different. They're definitely tackling some difficult technical passages in the opener and doing a pretty good job at taking it on. Visually it's not the most difficult drill, but there is some nice visuals that make for an aesthetically pleasing show. Will be interesting to see how caption results shake out, as I think there were a lot of really strong shows today.
  7. What an exceptional performance from Coppell. They sounded incredible and their soloists were outstanding (the saxophone in the ballad is mind-blowingly good). Not only do they sound great though, but I thought visually they were very crisp and clean. Didn't see or hear much dirt, which is very impressive given we still have over a month left in the season. Once they add their closer they'll be a force to be reckoned with.
  8. Cedar Ridge would've killed it at Grand Nationals this year. They sound OUTSTANDING. Visually it's quite good as well, good usage of the props and really good work from the color guard. They hit it on the mark with their show this year.
  9. Prosper was fantastic. Gorgeous sounds and a fair amount of technical demand too. Much better show design than last year and one that I think will do very well in Indianapolis in November.
  10. Thought Keller's musical arrangement was exceptional! Lots of great brass moments mixed in with soloists to keep the show interesting. For me it's not the most interesting show visually, still feels like it's lacking something to give it that extra oomph, but their musical performance was outstanding and should get them far throughout the season.
  11. I really enjoyed CTJ. It's a little more stripped down than their usually very extravagant productions but I think the performance level and quality is still exceptional. The last movement with the tenor sax solo was wonderful to listen to, but it had me a little perplexed with how it fits with everything before it. Hopefully once they complete the show it will start to mesh more for me. Still think they have a great shot at winning the regional!
  12. This contest is being streamed live again this year on the LD Bell YouTube channel for those that want to keep up with it!
  13. Northeast ISD streamed their marching festival tonight with each of the high schools performing their shows. Reagan performed what appears to be their entire show, while CTJ possibly has another movement to add (can't quite tell but the show ended somewhat awkwardly). For Reagan, the full show design is very similar to the style of the Path, Secret World, Loop, etc. Musically, the technical demand is incredibly high across all sections, from high woodwinds to low brass. It's not entirely clean right now but they're doing a good job tackling a very difficult book. Visually they're quite clean, as Reagan always is, and the ending is especially visually pleasing. For CTJ, seeing the show with all their props and uniforms is a whole different look for me. They sound fantastic as always, the low brass especially, and even with the visual demand being at CTJ's typical absurd difficulty, it's quite readable. The ballad is growing on me more and more every time I see it. Unfortunately, there was about a forty five second gap in the stream between the ballad and the next movement that makes it hard for me to comment on it, but the soloists sound excellent. Kind of a weird ending, but I'm guessing they have more to add later.

  17. Let's keep it civil now, we all have our own personal preferences and we should respect that.
  18. Nice to see the Woodlands haven't slowed down a bit with all their director changes. And how about Cy-Fair!
  19. Vandegrift sweeps captions, but only have a 0.550 point margin above second place Cedar Ridge. Exciting to see Cedar Ridge perform so well so early!

  21. My first time watching Vista since a very early season video and wow did they impress. Very loud and full sounds, nice cleanliness visually. I don't remember the name of the source material for their opener but I know that Leander played it in 2016 and that's one of my favorite shows of all time, so that's a big plus for me. My personal rankings after seeing everyone would be: Vandegrift (M/GE) Cedar Park (V) Cedar Ridge Vista Ridge Round Rock Rouse Westlake Leander Hendrickson James Bowie Westwood Lake Travis
  22. Yep, they changed colors between movements. Thought Vandy was very strong, some great technical passages in there that aren't quite crispy clean yet but still performed well. The demand of the show is quite high and they performed it very well. Barring an insane performance from Vista, I'd say they're probably the winner for me tonight.
