2021 6A UIL SMBC (Nov. 8 & 9)
BandFan59 replied to LeanderMomma's topic in Past Contests, Events, and Festivals Archive
In 2012 Marcus won the BOA San Antonio Super Regional sweeping captions and went on to win UIL State that year. In 2016 Flower Mound won the BOA San Antonio Super Regional sweeping captions and went on to win UIL State that year. Now that Hebron has won BOA San Antonio sweeping captions I think it's time for them to join their fellow Lewisville ISD bands and win UIL State! -

Reagan was much improved from their prelims run! Really enjoyed the show even with its similarities to Secret World and thought they performed it incredibly. The color guard at Reagan really is phenomenal. I have them pretty solidly behind the Woodlands, Hebron, CTJ, and Vandegrift, but that was a great run from Reagan nevertheless.

Vandegrift is such an incredible band. Their music abilities are insane (the echo after the ballad hit was gorgeous) and visually they're executing at such a high level. I think I have them below The Woodlands, Hebron, and CTJ right now but that's no knock on them; the level of bands here tonight is unbelievable.

I do think typically it is harder to make finals at San Antonio than Grand Nationals with the depth of bands in Texas, however the level of competition at Grand Nationals is exceptionally high this year. With seven top Texas bands attending, combined with powerhouses like Broken Arrow and Blue Springs returning to Grand Nationals and the usual Midwestern stalwarts, Grand Nationals this year will be incredibly tough to make finals. Round Rock certainly has their work cut out for them, but they always are able to pull it out.
