  1. Well in slightly more positive news..................Clements is about to take the field in Atlanta! Good luck to them.
  2. Okay, that really sucks.
  3. Per their Facebook page, James Bowie is now at 4:30pm.
  4. Per their Facebook page, James Bowie is now at 4:30pm.
  5. Well regardless of what happens, STAY SAFE EVERYONE! As much as I'd love to see everyone compete, the safety of the kids has got to be the first priority. Gotta be a crazy day for the event workers, bands, and staffs. I wish the best to everyone, hope it can run smoothly from here on out! Also, try not to spread rumors by not posting something unless you are 100% FOR SURE it's true. All people want when it's a pretty hectic situation is more confusion.
  6. This is a lot more believable than the 7 bands drawing for only 5 spots thing floating around.
  7. Also, sounds like our friends from Archbishop Alter have arrived today on busses ALL THE WAY from Ohio! Geez, talk about a road trip. Best of luck to them, a class A championship and exhibition would be cool for the little band from up north. Someone on the BOA forum pointed their facebook out, sounds like they're already having a blast. https://www.facebook.com/Alter-High-School-Bands-150913124979961/timeline
  8. I don't think I've ever been so excited for a competition. I cannot wait to see as many of these shows as I can (might have to bring the headphones to work tomorrow).
  9. There's a video from Prelims on the linked Facebook page listed above.
  10. I'm happy your kids enjoyed the camp!
  11. Updated with Area's E and F. Still waiting on G. Will update 2A/3A tomorrow.
  12. Looking at performance times, growth in recent weeks, show development, cleaning, changes, when bands seasons end, ect. this is shaping up to be something pretty crazy. I wouldn't be surprised to see a few of last years finalists out, some new faces, someone in the top that isn't expected, ect. This is going to be crazy, and I can't wait.
  13. Yup! 3rd at state in 2002 and 2004 and 6th in 2006. We moved up to 4A my freshman year of high school in 2008. First time advancing since the move up.
  14. Leander, Centennial, and Dripping Springs are my 3 definite picks. The other 2 are probably more wild card type bands.
  15. There's going to be A LOT of new faces in finals this year. From last time around: Vandegrift Cedar Park Vista Ridge Wakeland Friendswood Connally Dawson Waxahachie Wylie Lake Ridge Two up to 6A, and 3 didn't advance this go around. At least 5 new faces this year. Exciting! Who will they be?
  16. Cleaned up some comments. You don't have to necessarily agree with the results, just please make sure you do so in a manner that's respectful, with reason, and not directing negatively at any program. Thank you.
  17. Full results here: https://www.uiltexas.org/music/marching-band/area Man, judge 2 in finals with Wakeland. Cost them 1st for sure, thankfully the others were consistent and it didn't cost them a state spot.
  18. Frisco Centennial's on youtube, they sound great and are very clean visually, could definitely see them in state finals.
  19. Updated with the Area B and A East Zone Advancers in 5A.
  20. Also, there is no reason in the world why a BOA centric show can't do well in UIL. If you're marching and playing well, you're marching and playing well. There's not NEARLY as much room for interpretation as there is with GE. Based on what I've seen, these results don't surprise me at all.
  21. The top 5 definitely separated themselves from the pack, all the 1st - 5th place votes went to them. No one above 6th.
  22. That's really odd, you're basically stopping your judging for 5A, resetting your mind/standards/ect. for 1A, and then having to go back to 5A. I really am not a fan of that myself, it's almost like there's three competitions.
  23. I know a bunch of contests got postponed, however we have had our first advancers to state. Listed alphabetically, not by placement. 1A State Marching Contest Bands: Crosbyton Knox City Leakey Munday Nueces Canyon Rising Star Ropes Rotan Throckmorton Water Valley White Deer Whiteface Wink 2A State Marching Contest Bands: Area A: Forsan New Deal Panhandle Sundown Area B: Area C: Carlisle Clarksville Shelbyville Area D: Area E: Area F: Area G: 3A State Marching Contest Bands: Area A: Crane High School Denver City High School Littlefield High School Area B: Area C: Mineola High School Prairiland High School Queen City High School White Oak High School Area D: Area E: Area F: 5A State Marching Contest Bands: Area A: Bel Air High School (West Zone) Canyon High School (Central Zone) Chisholm Trail (East Zone) Plainview High School (Central Zone) Area B: Aledo High School Birdville High School Centennial High School (Frisco) Southwest High School Wakeland High School Area C: Forney High School McKinney High School McKinney North High School Poteet High School Waxahachie High School Area D: Cedar Park High School Dripping Springs High School Leander High School Vandegrift High School Vista Ridge High School Area E: Ridge Point Tompkins Area F: Barbers Hill Crosby Tomball Tomball Memorial
