Just thought I would mention, the 2002 Cavaliers Frameworks file stops at 8:13. I have a larger version (like 220MB) that is the whole show. -

Wow... I would pay a premium for DCI quality.... its spectacular. -
Bidding on the Cavaliers starts at $10. Vanguard is a bargain at only 10cents (New staff not included).

We are aware that the website can be extremely slow and sometimes even time out when you try to load a page.... its pretty irritating, I know. Basically this is all the result of that power outage in Los Angeles a few days ago, where our host, DreamHost, is located. To make a long story short, the back-up power generators that would have supplied power to all of the tenents where DreamHost is located, failed. Therefore, all the servers, equipment, coffee machines, died. They are still working out a ton of kinks on their end... be patient! (If you think its slow, try to compile a list of everyone's predictions and edit them! Only 5000 of those!) Thanks for being patient!

Completely Relax Use lots of Air Practice loud individually Practice Playing loud as an ensemble Learn what is 'too much'. To learn to play loud, you have to practice playing loud. It's that simple.

Umm Its Dreamweaver MX 2004. We use regular MX at school and it is EXTREMELY painful. Sorry I couldn't resist. Oh, and we can't access the MySQL Database. The page is down. This is potentially bad. Happy Birthday indeed.

Happy Birthday to the programmer of TxBands... if it wasn't for his 1337 pHp skillz there would be no forums (and thus this post) as we know it. *Drum major salute*

True, the embochure may be the same but no corps march trombones. Plus, valve combinations for 1 horn = all other marching horns.

All good euphonium music is written in Bass. If you are going to play euphonium, you should definitly become fluent with Bass Clef. Give it 2 months... thats how long it took me. Baritone/Euph (there is a difference, described below) is the easiest to learn because the embochure is relaxed. Given that a tuba's embochure is even more relaxed than a euph, it requires a lot more air and can be especially hard for a beginner to pick up. Now the infamous question: What is the difference between a baritone and euphonium. Well, the answer is not that one is bigger or that one has 4 valves. The answer is in the size of the tubing. A euphonium's tubing is described as conical. The size of the pipe is continually increasing as the tubing moves through the valves. A baritone's pipes are always the same diameter (until it starts getting bigger for the bell portion). For my school, the marching baritones use a small shank (smaller pipe size) and thus require less air. (Thats not saying large bore horns don't exist). Almost all marching euphoniums use a large shank mouthpiece. All (good) corps march a euphonium because the sound is better, and its nearly impossible to make an edgy on them. Just a note: The ONLY a baritone (not euphonium) part would be written in Treble clef is usually in military marches or any piece that requires a Bb Baritone part. (Euphoniums and Baritones are normally in Concert C pitch, not Bb, so its written in treble clef). For example, the Grainger piece Lincolnshire Posy has a Bb Baritone part in treble. and finally, there is no such thing as a drum core or corp. Its always CORPS, plural or singular.

How about Cavies 02? I have a mpeg version and it is really crappy. I need a good AVI for the best show. -
Clarinot has a plastic reed... but he's afraid to use it. I'll tell him to post here and tell ya about it.

The sun is 93 million miles from Earth, not 93 million degrees. If you Google'd "Sun Temperature" you'd see that it only tops at 27 Million degrees.

Bands of America
Dynasty replied to themainclarinet's topic in Past Contests, Events, and Festivals Archive
I guess then it could be argued, Why end the marching season when the last contest finishes? Why not finish out until the last football game. Heaven forbid you make playoffs . Anyways, in Texas, the State finals were the week after the BOA Super Regional in San Antonio. I don't know about many bands, but we had to spend the night in San Antonio, so expenses for another trip (such as Grand Nationals) is completely out of the question. That seems like a good season ender. I think its up to a band when they want their season to end. If their goal was to put on a BOA Show, and they do, then I think their season can be considered over. Even if they do go on to state. I don't mean to talk in third person... I'm actually referring to Reagan. They swept the captions at the Super Regional, and then got 8th at state. I know there are many judging differences, but (I'm assuming) their show was a BOA show, and they did a darn good job at it! -
inspiring your band

I don't want to bring up any hard feelings (and I am truely sorry if I do) but who can forget the James Bowie student that died at the Rose Bowl? I feel that we are all becoming a little more aware of health on the marching field now. We had mandatory physicals, free heart screenings for those who choose, and water breaks/hydration were an important subject for marching band this year. The argument has been placed before: Is marching band a sport? Should band students get less health attention even if marching isn't considered a sport? No. No matter what the answer, there should always be precautions to protect every person who participates. Now on a side note.... holding your horn can really hurt. I've never really gotten past 10 minutes, but I'm sure it would kill you eventually. -

Its called 'Mexico'. Go to Cancun or Cozumel... The water is beautiful! Anyways, I was glad to see South Padre Island was on the top 10 beaches... Not only can you swim, but you can probably be abducted and taken over the border
