Plano Senior has a really nice show too.  No kids in school there anymore but I have seen their show multiple times and really liked it.  

I was hoping to see them as well. 

Thanks!  My oldest went to PESH and was part of the 2012 State bound band.  Then they realigned the schools and my last two went to Plano Senior.  But my heart has always been with Plano East.  I just like to see them rebuilding each year and getting better.

Duncanville was so funky! The singer so authentically captured the New York, jazzy style. Great job woodwinds with those runs. Brass so groovy and fun to listen to. Very talented performers in every section!

I see why Keller competes so well. I noticed that when they do those crescendoing phrases, they’re longer than the phrases the other bands attempt. That’s riskier as the longer the phrase goes the more likely(and easier to notice) a decay in the quality of sound can occur. And they attempt more simultaneous playing while marching. 

I’m impressed with Waxahacie’s risk taking with the triplets in the brass. It can be very easy to make those sound crunched and unclear, but they not only make every note speak but they put a great amount of shape into those phrases and balance and blend their sound very well with their fellow performers.

They were great! I could tell they have strong concert bands. And the color guard was very good, can see why they won best color guard in class 6A.

Yes, I believe it is reverse order. Can’t wait to get there! Hope the winds can die down some.

I’m here I can tell y’all what happens 

Back in 2013, the Plano East band stopped their show before the last movement because they knew they started late.  Yes. us parents in the audience were confused, but they still received their 1st rating because they were aware of the time restriction.  There are so many props and electronics these days in the shows and the bands should know the the effect of starting late.  Wakeland probably knew the consequences of starting late yet continued so they could get a full run in.  

None of our kids were told they would be starting during the announcements. They have never once practiced that way. They never planned to start early. The show is just too long and the director started it too late to fit in the allotted time. Equipment malfunction is not a legitimate excuse. They should have started without the synth if it really wasn’t ready in time. Directors should make sure their shows are short enough to allow for a few seconds of issues anyway. It’s a dangerous move to make the show longer than that. Hopefully something was learned, but it sounds like it’s just being swept under the rug of excuses. 

Alright with this contest out of the way here is my thoughts on each show!
Wylie HS- WOW! I am in shock by the performance they gave in both Prelims and Finals! They put on a show that made me put them over Wylie East for Area contest. Their music is great and is visually appealing! I can't wait to see how this show does and Hope it makes State!
 
Wylie East HS- AMAZING! There show, Re: Imagine, is still great! Going first in Prelims put them at a disadvantage, but they didn't let that bring them down! They got 2nd in Prelims and in Finals did well enough to win the caption for Outstanding Visuals! I really like this show and could see them advancing to the 6A State Marching contest!
 
Lewisville HS- This show was AWESOME! I didn't know what to expect from them, but they put on one heck of a performance! Going Home- A Cardinals Journey is a show that I would love to see again! I want to congratulate them on getting 3rd Place in both Prelims and Finals!
 
Burleson Centennial HS- This is one GREAT show! The story that is told is amazing and it really brings the audience on a journey with the main character! The addition of ROAR by Katy Perry really brings this show to a whole new level! This showed why Burleson Centennial is a State qualifying Band!
 
Plano East Senior HS- LETTER B! This show is an interesting concept which takes the use of the LETTER B and tells a story of it. I love that what the band does with music including Flight of the Bumble Bee! Not an easy one to use, and on a State Year, really proves why Plano East is a State Qualifying Band! I hope this show does well at Area!
 
Rockwall HS- BEAUTIFUL! I really love the visual aspect of this show, which is based on the Northern Lights (Also that is the show name). This show has one of my favorite prop designs for this year and I hope to see them in Area Finals!
 
Colleyville Heritage HS- I really like the idea of this show! Into Thin Air takes us on a journey through the mountains and from the Colorguard equipment to the use of Tents, this show is one that I was not surprised it did so well in Prelims. Unfortunately, they didn't get a good placement in Finals. But overall, I really like this show!
 
Plano HS- The Bridge is an interesting concept that I'm still trying to understand. I really liked the show, but I'm still having an issue on how to talk about this show. I do hope to see it in Finals at Area though!
 
Birdville HS- CUBES! This show uses Cubes throughout and was visually great! I am glad that they made finals, and thought they were going to place a bit higher!
 
Plano West HS- THE TANK! This show was really unique and using the idea of being in a Fish Tank and making it musically appealing made it one great performance! Unfortunately though, I was not surprised for the placement as there is still stuff to be worked on for the show. But Overall, a good performance! Also, the use of JAWS theme is a great addition!
 
Granbury HS- BEAUTIFUL! This show took on a great idea to talk about a famous artist from the 20th Century! I really thought they were going to make finals, but there were other bands who had better performances. Overall, I really like the concept of this show and how it was definitely different from every other group!
 
Heritage HS- They put on a great performance, but it wasn't enough to make finals :(. I hope they have better success at other shows as they had a really good performance!
 
Overall, the McKinney Marching Invitational was really fun and I'm glad I was able to attend! On the 29th, I'm either attending Area B or Area C for 6A, so I hope to see ya'll there!

I didn't know, but I think Colleyville Heritage is going first in Finals, but other than that, everyone else should be going in order if what they placed in Prelims

Awesome performances from Plano West, Plano East, and Burleson Cenntenial!
 
Plano West- Great way to come back from break! They brought us into the sea world with great music! There were some moments that didn't look right visually, but they did well in music!
 
Plano East- WOW! There performance was AMAZING! The use of music and visually amazing! It felt engaging all the way through! This show, Letter B, is a show that I hope does well at Area, and possibly even makes State! Definitely seeing them in Finals!
 
Burleson Centennial- AMAZING! This show showed why they are a State Level band and I really loved the story it told! Music was phenomenal and I feel that this show will do great where ever they go! Definitely seeing them in Finals!

Yay!   I might try to run up there for a hour to see PESH and PSHS.  I've had kids at both.  Just watched the PESH show from last night at the Flower Mound football game.  They might surprise a few people today.  

I will be heading to this contest soon!

I think it's $10 and that gets you into both Prelims and Finals.

My son graduated from PSHS in 2021.  They had some success with Marianette but then because of the Pandemic didn't really get to enjoy a second marching season there.   He was home and was very happy to see their show.  I wish you the best success for the rest of the marching band season.  I am going to try to catch a few more competitions.  

Thank you! I'm in the plano senior band and I'm really pleased with the amount of hard work our band has put in this season. Everyone is so fired up and hungry to get better it's really amazing how far we've come as a band. I agree we have some rough moments so I'm excited to get better and grow as the season goes on!
