  1. 7 cuz quads always have the most hardcore percussion solos.
  2. Hmmmm, too early to say. I would have to know more about their show design plans before I jumped on the finals boat here.
  3. I guess LD Bell has laready marched...
  4. The time approaches... we are one minute away from the day of the competition.
  5. Yeah, things are pretty tense over here right now. I've been trying to find out who it was exactly so I can cash in, but the people who did it apparently have a pretty tight knit group.
  6. Hmmm, i can't change it right now, but I will consider revising it. Perhaps it will be a sus chord type resolve, but more coplex than the standard, because you're not hardcore unless you live hardcore.
  7. Thanks, that's always good to hear; and yeah, all we could hear from the synth was the more bass parts... except for when they used a vocal type synth, that came through pretty well where we were.
  8. Yeah, their show this year is much more to my taste than last year's. Although, I haven't had a good listen to the music yet (we were in the endzone when they performed, and I only got to see bits and pieces of the recording we made of them), but I get the feeling I will soon enough.
  9. Perhaps we just have different criteria for an exciting show then. I saw it live two or three times before, and have seen recordings since then of G'nats.
  10. Come on, really. Other than the double G, and the long high E it's not that tough, really. A little bit of endurance- it's only what, 16 or 17 measures, and there's nothing really all that technical either. Like I said, take it down if ya gotta- maybe I can get some of our guys to play those parts then. Perhaps we should elect for different parts online now so we can be sure to have them divided up right. And heck, I'll play fifth or fourth part; they have some of the most interesting stuff, like their dissonant adittions to the chord structures and whatnot.
  11. Alright, check it out, I wrote us a "TX Bands Fanfare". It's got 5 trumpet parts; pick whichever one is best suited to you and get it to where you can play it, should we ever get the chance to do so at BOA or sumthin. Oh, and first part goes up high. To a double G. Worst comes to worst, take down the stuff you can't play. But also remember we need people on low parts as well. Here's the score: Score Here's an audio rendering of it using trumpet synths (so you know what it should sound like): Audio
  12. Man, I really like the Rite of Spring, (in this case this is mostly the Augers), but it odesn't seem to really translate into marching music too well. At least, not at this level- a lot of the things that really make it the Rite of Spring were taken out, like all the grace notes and trills, and the constant drone of the strings' eigth notes at the beginning. I have to say, it's cool though. I would love to play that song with our band, but ya know, ya can't always get what ya want, eh? Haven't watched the Duncanville one yet... just about to though.
  13. The alumni band this year got a ton of loud applause at least.
  14. Our final movement is ..... uhhh*shudders*. Definitely needs work. But, I'm sure our directors will slap us around and get us into ship-shape for it.
  15. To tell you the truth, I really didn't like their show last year all that much... it seemed just a tad... boring. This year, however, seems to be a bit different, at least drill wise. They move around a lot in that show, and they definitely utilize their colorguard to its full potential to keep the momentum running throughout. I guess you can do that when you have nearly 50 members. (Lol, we on the other hand right now only have ELEVEN. Yeah, that's right ELEVEN. It's sad. But OK.) Like I said, it seems like this year's show is probably goona be more exciting. Lookin good so far at least.
  16. Not I said the fly! Who is currently watching Robot Chicken?
  17. Hmmmmm, very interesting, and exciting, indeed. WE FINALLY HAVE A DIVISION ONE CORPS. Ok, now that that's out of the way, I would have to say I feel obligated to try out for them now- how could I possibly justify missing out on being part of the birth of this new legacy? Besides that, I would like to think that, what with band owning so much in TX, now the Crossmen will see a sudden spurt in performance. This may not prove to be true, but hey, it makes sense to me. If you look at the higher ranking corps, such as PR, they often have a rather high percentage of Texans. We wil see, I suppose. We will see.
  18. Lol, I'm just messin with ya. And besides that, I liked that one movement... I think it was the second one, about the teenage rebelion. Definitely wasn't a ballad. Of course, I liked the ballad with the vocalists too... that was very tastefully done.
  19. Gotta finish learning the closer, which mind you, is going to be epic, at least for the wind players. Really got work on getting our second movement Xylophonia cleaned up too. (wehavenoballadcuzballadsarefortheweak)
  20. Alright, alright, here's the basic out line of what's public at this point; http://aisd.net/martinband/ Just go to the bottom of the page, there's some brief info about the show and a picture of our various logos and symbols for the show. Oh, and I just noticed this, but if you click on our drill designers name you'll see that one of our sets has a really big 'M' for Martin... I thought that was pretty cool- I don't think we've had anything self-referencing like that in our drill, at least not in the recent past.
  21. That's interesting; at one point I had thought about writing a show themed after Dante's Inferno, but I wrote the introduction/1st part of opener and lost interest for one reason or another.
  22. Lol, sounds like raw chops from Blue Devils getting third to me. I'm not really all that familiar with the guy, so hey, if he's good at what he does and therefore increases PR's chance of winning I'm down.
  23. Zaja is the valve oil of the gods- it works very very well, and it comes scented too! (Vanilla seems to be the general favorite flavor/scent)
  24. Him and his triple C's shall be missed.
  25. Ouch... see, we may not be the greatest band to have ever graced the marching field, but our football team has always sucked, so the coaching staff and whatnot all have a high respect for us because of our various victories. In fact, over the summer they had some of the football players observe our 'work ethic', which I must say, may not be the best in the world either, but hey, its better than theirs. Oh, and Boyscouts, NHS, YAPA, and Academic UIL stuff later.... I think that's it.
