  1. Meatriding? Kind of a crude statement.
  2. They have been really slow getting them up this year. Maybe they just don't have someone assigned to this task. They've been super quick about it in past years.
  3. So you'd rather see a commercial than not seeing the content for technical reasons? Okay.
  4. I guess we can a least be happy that they didn't go to a commercial in the middle of anyone's show today.
  5. Well, my experiences are a culmination of over 50 years of attending marching competitions. In the last 10 years there has been stark increase of people talking during performances, making rude comments about bands with no concern about who may hear them, and just all around inconsiderate behavior. Nothing beats the live performances, but the trade-off of not having to endure the unpleasant things is worth it for me. I do, however, miss the excitement of live performance.
  6. Yep, this is why I just don't attend live anymore. People are so rude and inconsiderate.
  7. I wouldn't count Cedar Park out of those top spots.
  8. Cedar Park was much stronger than Leander today.
  9. Great start of the season for Cedar Park. Can't wait to see them at the end of the season. Nice!
  10. I agree. When speculating before the competition, it's easy to imagine a bloodbath getting into finals. But when the competition happens, there is often more space, pointwise, between bands to justify the results. I rarely see a result that I can't understand or disagree with.
  11. Yep, just renewed my subscription yesterday. Went up $15 this year, although they did send me a 15% discount code.
  12. Coppell is one the more consistent groups. They'll be fine.
  13. Most all bands are required by their district to attend all UIL events. Also, I think that there is a rule that if you skip a year, you are not eligible to participate the following year after you skip.
  14. I used to keep up with the competitions with spreadsheets as well. It's a lot of work. Thanks for your time and effort.
  15. I watch that show every once in a while and still marvel at how much work it took to put that together. I'm not sure you could do this show post-8 hour rule.
  16. The marching in that show turned a lot of heads back then! Playing wasn't bad as well. Was a special show in my book.
  17. Watched the Scholastic World and Independent World percussion finals today. Wow! So many incredible groups in these two classes. My overall favorite was Dartmouth HS's Raven show. Hopefully some will post the finals performance, but here's one from the day before: https://youtu.be/soa0JGnC1rw
  18. You are so very welcome and thanks so much for your knowledgeable insights!
  19. You are, of course, welcome to your opinion, but you are completely wrong about your take on this forum. We are fanatical supporters of our Texas guards, but are honest about each one's particular situation in these competitions. We have nothing but respect and admiration for these students and leaders. Maybe re-read this thread with that in mind and you may get a different idea of what is being said. If you are looking for criticism and negativity, you will always find it.
  20. Sounds much like the music we listened to when I was in college in the late 70's, early 80's. Yes, chemicals were involved.
