  1. Yep there would only be one or two people in it at a time... even during our peak traffic seasons, it wasn't used. However, we'd be open to suggestions for a new and improved chatroom.
  2. We'll definitely be having predictions again! The best way to get a predictions event entered in is to add events you know about at http://www.txbands.com/predict/public_addevent.php. This is especially helpful for the smaller contests which is hard for me to keep up with. I know we had one submission yesterday, but due to a database problem it got deleted before I could approve it. Generally, the TxB staff will add BOA events on our own, as we use the updated lists only after the actual contest schedule (as opposed to a roster of participants) is published. That said- I know Westlake is coming up in a week. Anyone have the list of participating bands for it?
  3. Haha yeah I have no idea actually. It seems like everyone wants to be the predictions mod but then kinda forgets about it half way through the season. Maybe I'll just stick with it for now.
  4. I'd say it depends what you're looking for... Are you interested in majoring in something music-related or just doing band for fun?
  5. Hi Everyone, The TxBands.com staff has made the decision to begin a phase-out of the band directory. This decision was based on the fact that usage of the directory has significantly declined since we launched it. (Some time ago- it was one of our first features after the forums) From what we can tell, this is due to much of the information being outdated, which in turn is from the way the directory is designed: edits require staff approval, and the all schools must be entered in the same format (with a specified set of information). Current Status The band directory is now in a read-only mode. All the information is still accessible from the "directory" link at the top of this page, but you can no longer make changes. Future This is dependent on you! The options we have discussed are either: doing away with the directory entirely OR moving the information into a band wiki (similar to how wikipedia is set up). To move everything over into a wiki, we would need you all to help us out by copying and pasting information from the directory to the wiki. Please vote in the poll. Also, if you have any feedback, please reply to this thread or PM me.
  6. I like!
  7. Well we did kind of have it planned before you suggested, but nice try
  8. well... we tried!
  9. Maybe the weatherman judge could make a banner for us. Since he's already qualified for both judging marching bands AND forecasting the weather, what would one more skill hurt?
  10. Note the massive "congratulations ldbell banner" on the top of every page
  11. I'll work on a fix for next season so the blog doesn't go up to the top for every refresh, even in hyper mode.
  12. Predictions 2007 are now completed! Congratulations to our winner Chsnareline05, who won with a score of 96, and a 27 point lead over the second place score. 13. For those who are MFA Virtual Network members (or join), all the videos from finals are already up at http://my.musicforall.org
  14. You can follow along play-by-play on our live blog at http://live.txbands.com
  15. The penalty is -0.1 points for every 3 seconds over the 11 minutes of performance time (which does not include enter/exit time) and -0.5 points for causing a "contest delay"
  16. http://musicforall.dci.org totally worth it, and free if you're already a virtual network member
  17. It's just a draw for finals... they don't stack top and bottom half.
  18. Friday is day 2 of prelims! Don't forget to get your prediction lists in by tomorrow night. This is the last predictions event of the season, and the last chance for you to win a TxBands.com t-shirt. http://www.txbands.com/predict Also, make sure to check out the live webcast. (http://musicforall.dci.org) The quality is amazing, and it's great for those of us who can't be there. Don't forget about TxBLive (http://live.txbands.com). Dan has been blogging all day and starts up again tomorrow morning. LD Bell 7:45 Clear Brook 9:00 Stephen F Austin 10:15 Richland 11:30
  19. Just as a thought, you might want to privately discuss it with your director in person. I have a strange feeling that having people from the internet email him to say his decision was stupid will only make things worse...
  20. Well it's ok because sometimes San Antonio has weird weather and the dome is cold.
  21. I can't say that I have ever been annoyed by a shape, nor frustrated by a show that integrates the same theme consistently through the entire performance.

  23. Go to google and type in his name. He's the first listing that comes up. Although not doing band related stuff, it's the same guy.
