Could be a real contender in 6A Area C now that some of the other schools in RISD have their directors leaving (specifically berkner & Pearce, with lake highlands not losing their main director)

I’m gonna say this and I’mma say it now: Our show music is absolutely amazing!!! 🤩🤩🤩 It’s so electric, light and upbeat but it also has a mysterious flipside to it (hehehe get it?). I’m excited 😆

I've heard a rumor about what Leander's show theme will be. Their show reveal is in a week I think, so I won't spill any tea here but if my source is correct, it sounds awesome and I think they can really do something special with it. I'll be very excited to see their show.

It's still going to feel fairly dark and brooding, but at least 50% less murder-y than The Cutting Edge. After Sweeney Todd last season, they've gone back to Sondheim with music from Into The Woods. Which I think is great because I love Sondheim compositions. Repertoire will include "Children Will Listen" from Into The Woods, and selections from a couple of Shostakovich symphonies, plus some original music from their usual arrangers/composers.

Very different vibe from last year. Welp, see them at the Alamo Dome no matter what this looks like

I agree with this one as well, I think 5/6/7 will be interesting to look at because i'd consider the 3 to all be pretty close to eachother so I can't wait to see how it ends up this fall. I think it will be great to see this contest especially with the newcomers.

I'm sure that we're gonna have WAY more people than listed, but here's what I think an early top 12 could be for this contest with possible "ranges". 4A looks insane for this show and has all the big guys asides from panther creek because of them sticking to the Plano East contest. A long as directors are smart and keep there kids watered it really shouldn't

Another thing about the Melissa contest is that it is a concrete jungle with it being early in the school year. There is no where to escape the sun and it can play a factor in early and middle of the day bands performing.

Ik last year they did the large school/small school where it was like top 12 large being like 5A/6A and then 4 small being 1-4A I think idk but I think Celina will be in probably but yeah it’s gonna be harder considering how popular it’s getting

3A Mineola made finals 2 yrs ago and 4A Celina made finals last year. It's going to be hard for a 4A to make finals because this contest now going into it's 3rd year is going to heavily attended by 5A/6A bands. You might get 1 or 2 4A's but they got to be exceptional.

Hope we can see some high 4A placement this year. Always cool to see a small band up there with the big ones.

I’d probably guess they’re gonna go to Wylie, closer and probably won’t be as insane as a lineup as here so they’d have a better shot at finals. Will probably be off the list next update if I had to guess, though either one is a good option for them

Just checked and you’re right, they do have Wylie listed for that week. Can’t really speak to whichever is true or not because I just copied and pasted the list of bands from the Melissa band website lol.

Interesting to see Lovejoy on this list. They currently have Wylie Marching Invitational listed on their calendar for this day.

I wonder how Lakeview, rowlett, and north forney will do! Lakeview and Rowlett were real close to making finals spot, wonder what they’ll have in store next season!

I imagine all the top 4A bands will be there. This is a regular one for Celina so all the other top bands (save for panther creek iirc) attend to see how they stack up early on.
