I think once WCHS gets established, both schools will be at around 1900 students (according to the district's projections), so both would be 5A for a short period before going back to 6A.

Waxahachie Creek opens in 2027 with 9th/10th Grade. Sophomores will supposedly be able to elect to stay at WHS if they want, so it's unlikely that we'll see Waxahachie moving down before the 2030 cycle.

Hey guys! So question: given the recent district realignments with sports and whatnot, will those alignments affect how our area works or will that be determined by the TMEA and UIL realignment sheets that will hopefully be posted soon?

2026 Melissa Marching Invitational
Tubalord11 replied to dfwhorn's topic in Non-UIL: Upcoming Contests, Events, and Festivals
I’ll take a crack at preds based off enrollment per the website: 1. Hebron (all but Perc) 2. Lone Star 3. Prosper 4. Lebanon Trail/Argyle 5. Argyle/LT 6. Wylie East 7. Braswell 8. Rock Hill 9. Forney 10. Burleson Centennial (Perc) 11. McKinney North 12. The Colony/Another Frisco school/North Forney So I’m only really confident on my top half. Bottom half could be so different, lots of band could be higher or lower but this is my best guess of now. Also left McKinney out since I’m 99% sure they are going to Bedford now. - Yesterday

2026 Melissa Marching Invitational
Tubalord11 replied to dfwhorn's topic in Non-UIL: Upcoming Contests, Events, and Festivals
So the main scoring difference is the impact of GE. It’s 20% music (10% individual, 10 ensemble), 20% visual (same individual and ensemble split). And 60% GE (2 20% music and 1 20% visual). IMO, they are the most fun and strongest overall comps around the nation. They do tend to last longer bc there’s normally more bands and they each have 15 minutes (some early ones are like 10?) but that’s really the main differences. Definitely worth going to then if you can!! -

Where are you getting that regions 20 and 21 will be moving to Area D for marching? What about regions 12 and 18?

2026 Melissa Marching Invitational
SaltySynth replied to dfwhorn's topic in Non-UIL: Upcoming Contests, Events, and Festivals
I've been in band for 3 years now and love DCI and go to marching contest on my days off but I still don't quite understand how BOA works. Like are shows longer for BOA? How is the scoring different from UIL? I'm super in touch with how the UIL side works but I'm lost with BOA. -
SaltySynth started following 6A Area D 2026 (Oct 31st)
-
Area D - Regions 8, 20, 21, 26 Region 8: Midway HS Temple HS Copperas HS Bryan HS Hacker Heights HS Lake Belton HS Chaparral HS Region 20: Duncanville HS Skyline HS Waxahachie HS Forney HS Lake Highlands HS North Forney HS Richardson HS Pearce HS MacArthur HS Nimitz HS Jesuit College Preparatory School Berkner HS Red Oak HS Irving HS Booker T Washington Region 21: Legacy HS Longview HS Region 26: Round Rock HS Hutto HS Westwood HS Cedar Ridge HS McNiel HS Stoney Point Hs East View HS If everyone makes Area there will be 31 bands leaving 6 state openings. Please correct me if this is wrong but I believe for every 5 bands there is 1 state slot up for grabs. Hope everyone has a fantastic season and look forward to hearing more about each band in the coming months when show reveals and contest start.

I remember playing at the Lakeview Centennial VS Wylie East game last year and the stadium felt smaller than it was (I was on the visitors side). The size of the Melissa ISD stadium is larger than bigger school districts' stadiums. Both CKD stadium and Mesquite Memorial stadium is large, but Mesquite Memorial stadium is bigger than CKD stadium.

TrenBS replied to dfwhorn's topic in Non-UIL: Upcoming Contests, Events, and Festivals
Its a nice stadium with solid judges and good logistics, and bedford wasnt on this date originally so for an early season performance its a no brainer Wylies stadium is on the older end and HEB is a BOA oriented competition, so for UIL priority groups Melissa is the only option in DFW with all the perks -

Sheesh this contest got competitive. Are the judges better this year or something? Why did the contest ramp up this much? I'm excited for marching season to start back up soon and people to announce their shows. -
Hi I'm LakeviewCentennialMello. I'm excited for this marching season. I go to school in Garland, Texas.

LakeviewCentennialMello created a club: 5A Area C

Just curious. Why would the lines change much? Does Kaufman go to C or B? I think B and C were fairly balanced last year with C being slightly stronger. In State Finals C had 3 in finals with one medalist. B had 2 in finals with 1 medalist. At state outside of finals in the very good placement of 11-15 C had 2 and B had 2. C lost 1 medalist a few of others bands to 5A. B lost a medalist plus a few others to 5A. These are the possible leaders based on last year just to illustrate balance. C- Sulphur Springs, NL, Bridge City, Pine Tree, Kaufman (if area C)? Plus a few other strong programs. B- China Spring, Aubrey, Krum, Alvarado, Springtown plus a few othe strong programs. It looks like on paper that C would be slightly more competitive. Is that your argument for change or is it geography or some other reason?
