UIL 5A Area B

Recommended Posts

1-2-10 Should never happen.  Ever.  You can't have two judges tell you you are 1st or 2nd and one 10th out of 10.  That is an impossibility, yet it happens all the time with UIL.  They need to drastically overhaul the system and some of these retired band directors need to go away.  Good thing it didn't keep a deserving band from advancing but it could have and the fact the UIL continues to allow it to happen over and over again and not address it is a travesty.

Congrats to all the bands who advanced.

Let me start by saying I have "no dog in the hunt".The judge who rated Wakeland at #10 should be suspended or entirely removed from UIL judging in the future. As someone else stated, you cannot have 1,2,10. If there was talk about any "bad feelings" and something like this happens, it only fuels the fire for the future. If a judge cannot put aside some personal grudge against someone, and most importantly, not negatively affect 250+ students because of that grudge, they have no business being allowed to judge. And if you look at the actual score, that judge had Wakeland rated WAY lower than anyone else in music.

Makes you wonder if this judge has done in the past to any other schools or directors. Maybe UIL should look into this a little bit?
