it'll be close, but idk if Lumberton or Farmersville will Crack that 6th place. 

I think Farmersville got 9th in prelims so they'd have to jump 3 bands into 6th to advance. Hope for the best.

Community and Paris were the only bands from last year to not make it this year.

It was definitely a tough year with so many excellent bands. I feel bad for my lumberton peeps. 🥺 Glad to be able to represent for all the SETX bands! -BC Student

Very surprised at some of the outcome.     I don't have anyone in particular....that I am associated with.    Which of these schools are positioned to move up/down in this nex cycle.  Would think Celina as they almost are at current 5A level?   How close is Pleasabt Grove?  For for they have mutiple schools on that area that can flex to what might make the more competitive.   Canto has come a long way.     So many championships.    Just remember when back in the day Argyle would win it all several years just to be on a trajectory upward as a larger school.    Some schools like Vandegrift never did that as they recognized the advantage.

My observations:

there was a large cluster of bands that were IMO difficult to distinguish between. Similar shows and styles. Im Not sure how the judges did it. I lost track of who did what pretty quickly. 
 

I had a similar ranking after finals, but flipped both bridge city/sulphur and canton/PG. 

celina is absolutely light years above the pack when it comes to music. That is some hard music to play sitting down, much less marching, and they do it with a tone unlike anyone else in 4a (and even some upper divisions). They have some visual work to do. It’s not as clean as usual but as I understand it, it’s a very young band  

BCs show is very short. Like another commenter posted, they left a lot of time on the clock. I like their props and screens a a lot. Sulphur seems to be dialing back the volume. I’m not sure if they were tired or trying to play with more musicality but the wall of sound did not pierce my eardrums as usual.  pine tree was surprising. I’m not sure how much I like the show but it was done very well. I had a feeling they would advance after watching them. it’s really coming along for North Lamar. I think it’s much better than last year. I’m very happy for canton!

I think the results will show celina somewhere in the 5-7 score range, followed SS, NL, PT, and BC clustered in the mid-teens through 25 or so. I think there will be a gap between BC and Canton. I noticed a divide but what do I know?

UIL has not posted any recaps of the Areas from yesterday. They need to hurry up, as I REALLY want to see the breakdown of Area C.

I heard SS got 1st place for one of the visuals in finals but not sure if it’s true.

It was a prelims sweep, yes. So, Celina with 5 and SS/NL tied at 21.

Still sad Farmersville didn't make it, but honestly saw it coming. I think too many changes were made from last year's winning formula. I think I mentioned they changed show and music designer which hurt them alot. I was also shocked Paris and Community didn't make finals. I never actually saw their shows, but their names have always been correlated with area finals so I was shocked they weren't there with the rest of them.

Took a look at the recap. Although I can’t say much since I’m not a judge I am curious of what Chuck Moon’s thoughts were in finals. Especially with lumberton in 12th for music.. 

Edit: Just saw that he also ranked SS 10th  and Farmersville 15th in music for prelims. Now I’m really curious on his thoughts.

I was lowkey surprised. I thought Farmersville had it in the bag. This year had a whole lot of surprises. Speaking of surprises, I was also very surprised Mabank made finals.
