I wonder if they will still do the full band retreat? Some of these bands have a 3+ hour drive back home on a school night.

I wish there was some way to compress the schedule a bit to move finals up.

I imagine a lot of bands will head out after their finals performance.

I'm sure it will be full retreat.

I am trying to move my work schedule around to go. I wouldn’t probably get there until the afternoon and watch finals.

should be fun. I wasn’t gonna be able to catch the Saturday one anyways. So this makes it better.

I’ve been told some bands are not staying but I’m not certain if it’s true. Does anyone know of any bands not staying?

Probably just watching Finals, kind of bummed they moved it to Monday. I figured Sunday would have worked.

I would have liked Sunday better too.

Bet

  1. Celina
  2. Sulphur Springs
  3. North Lamar
  4. Lumberton
  5. Bridge City
  6. Farmersville
  7. Wills Point
  8. Canton
  9. Van Alstyne
  10. Pleasant Grove
  11. Pine Tree
  12. Community
  13. Paris
  14. Sunnyvale
  15. Mabank
  16. Little Cypress-Mauriceville
  17. Quinlan-Ford
  18. Caddo Mills
  19. Tarkington
  20. Huffman Hargrave
  21. Jasper

This is pretty good. Except because of the switch to Monday combined with the placements in prelims schedule, I think the Top 6 order could be a little crazy after prelims & change quite a bit after finals round. I haven't seen Canton eithet though.

I could see that happen. I was honestly waiting for all the negative comments about me having Lumberton in 4th. I get the overall vibe in here about Lumberton and it aint good. I completely understand the show being messy at times, but they absolutely can/do clean up real fast and especially leading up to Area. Also, they outplaced everyone who had predicted in 7th - 10th last year and think they will do the same this year.

I honestly just think a lot of people here are not as familiar with lumberton. I can lump BC into this group as well. Being from the DFW area, I’ve been watching bands like canton and wills point for almost three decades. My only opportunity to see lumberton and BC are at area and state (and sometimes it’s only state depending on area alignments). It’s really hard for me to be able to predict how they will perform because I just don’t really know their history/style/culture as well as other bands. It’s nothing personal against them at all. I think a lot of the people on here are from the northern part of the area like me.

I honestly have no clue how 4th and up will play out. I honestly think there are 9 bands who, if they have a stellar run, could grab a spot.

My list is somewhat similar to yours, but I’m really rooting for NL to take second over SS. I honestly want this to happen more than any of my other predictions.

We gonna do our best.

Looks like they made a good decision in moving the contest. The rain stopped around 7AM and was misting until around 930 and the rain went away and the sun came out throughout the day until the rain came back in around 530 and rained until almost 9. If the contest would have went on then it would have probably been prelims only.

Just throwing this question out there, but with area c being such a big area, do we think Pine Tree is a better location for area c to be hosted at? Or is it the same if not worse?

It’s about the same for our Deep South schools. It’s worse for region 25. Better for pleasant grove.

I think Pine Tree is a pretty good location. They have hosted marching events before. I don't know if they are ready for the mass insanity tomorrow. I don't think their parking lot for fans is big enough for what I think is coming.

Pine Tree is also on the Southwest side of Longview where as the contest in Lindale is smack dab in the middle of town that is dealing with road construction.

Not many schools will benefit from the move though. Yes, Pine Tree will not have to travel and I think North Lamar/Paris/PG will have a shorter trip but that is it. Celina/Wills Point/Caddo Mills/Community/Van Alstyne/Canton/Mabank/Sunnyvale/Quinlan Ford/Sulphur Springs will have to drive an extra 45 minutes to Pine Tree.
