This is solid to advance for state. If they continue on their established trajectory. I think it’s better than Sulphur. I watched the KGAS livestream and have seen some videos of the 25 and 10 bands

Here are my new projections:

1 Celina consistent pure sounds and flawless marching. They will win. They have the numbers, the finesse, and the difficulty. Their Achilles heel is the guard and battery. But both have gotten considerably better.

2 NL almost consistent pure sounds, fantastic marching, ridiculous choreography, tons of variety. This little band punches so far above its weight. Medal contention is possible. State finalists for sure.

3 SS this band is the definition of solid. The last video I’ve seen of them from Friday seems like they are trying to get the mix just right. They could overtake NL with power and the difficulty of their wind book. But they aren’t as good visually. Solid lock for advancement. Almost a certainty for State finals

4 Farmersville. They are so artistic and expressive. I love their show. They may have my favorite ballad I’ve seen all year. They do everything so well. Power and projection is their biggest weakness. They have some timing challenges to overcome. High probability for state advancement

5 BC. Another great band. I don’t know if the growth from last year to this has been significant enough to put them in the top three. But I could see them overtaking Farmersville.

6 Wills Point. Here is my hottest of takes. I think they are the stunner. They are young but hungry and well taught. I think they come in and take out a few perennial state contenders and with it likely only being 6 bands this year, only the most well programmed and best sounding bands will make the cut.

I completely agree.

Celina’s battery has greatly improved. I do vish their guard was given a bit more movement but either vay, I still see them getting first at area.

North Lamar has made a huge jump from last year, though I do feel that they might not top Sulpher, but ve’ll see. Great shov though, and I love their volume.

I have seen a couple videos of SS and I found it to be avesome. I vould love to see it in person and personally I hope they get second.

Farmersville truly is avesome this year. I love how they use the props and I find their shov very amusing. I agree though that they are lacking in volume and strength, likely because of confidence, but I can definitely see a great opportunity for them if they can adjust.

Bridge City looks very good from what I’ve seen so I can definitely see them making state. Not so much topping Farmersville but ve vill see… 🤔

Wills Point is so fascinating. I love their shov and their performance, and vhile I feel like maybe some confidence is lacking (same vith Farmersville) I still believe that if they can truly ‘lock in’ as the younglings seem to say, they may have a strong chance to get to state.

I am truly excited to see the outcome of Area C this year and I can’t vait vait vait for state. Good luck every band going! Tis going to be an exciting day! 👏 🧛‍♀️

Is there any good Wills Point video? I found a football stream of them vs Quinlan, but that's it. Trying to weigh them with VA & Lumberton.

Also, I am seeing rain chances Saturday....

I'm still trying to edit the videos... my old Sony Vegas Pro software is struggling... I should have most, if not all of the Region 10 4As up early this morning.

Great! You do an awesome job uploading years, well decades of video! On a side note, did something happen to the Anahuac video? It didn’t appear to have made it up with the rest of the 3A videos.

ETA: After a weekend full of seeing camera phone videos that messed with the sound, yours are very appreciated today! The audio is much more like what I heard Saturday (minus some quieter parts that I think kind of disappeared in the wind). Thank you for all that you do!

Thank you!

def better than the football livestreams I’ve found

thoughts on BC. What a wall of sound! I don’t know if I remember that from last year. Drill is pretty clean too! Maybe better than SS. Def cleaner than NL. I just don’t think the content is there. They will def advance but I think my rank is pretty close.

Lumberton is playing so many notes with pretty good sound. If it cleans up it will make an impact. But I’m worried it’s to far away. Get to work lumber ton stun area C

What do you mean by "it's too far away"?

I believe WP is wanting to leave it a surprise. Not for sure though, only seen clips and bits.

They went to Regionals on Saturday and got 1's then travelled to Winnsboro and competed in "Battle of the Spear" They got 2nd overall behind Redwater. Here is the video, I think you need to fast forward to 4hr 19min.

Oh wow. That does look a lot like Celina’s show from last year…and also their show from this year, lol. 😂

I think WP will make finals but I’m not certain they will advance.

Yeah, those wooden props are pretty darn close to Celina's from last year.  And considering their show names are similar too....

Just rewatched & had been thinking the same. There was a good bit of improvement since the football stream. It really depends on how much they push this week.

I'm not sure what he was trying to say, but I think most know to not count Lumberton out. They have some spacing issues and lines to clean up, and IMO could use more dynamics in the closer. That is stuff they are very capable of buckling down & doing quickly though and they have shown that in the past.

What I mean is that there are a lot of timing issues. When there are major timing issues this late in the season it’s rare that they really get fixed. And a lot of the other shows I’m seeing don’t have these problems.

BC color guard captain here. I was just wondering if anyone knows when the schedule is coming out? I’m looking forward to seeing all these amazing bands this Saturday!

The schedule will be out by EOD today. We still have two more bands to compete at Region, and their results will be announced at 2:00.

Speaking of which, wishing the best of luck to Tarkington and Shepherd today! It's up to the two of them to bump the numbers up to 35. Area A did it, so I think Area C can do it too.

Tarkington's at 1:30, Shepherd's at 1:45, and their results will be released at 2:00.

So, for those of you not following the other thread, weather is looking rough on Saturday.

Both 2A and 4A area C are scheduled to use the Lindale indoor facility in the event of rain on the 25th. This leads me to speculate that this contest could be prelims only. 2A area C is already a prelims only contest. There will be no room for spectators. I can’t even imagine how this will work based on the photos I’ve seen of their facility

https://jacksonconstruction.com/portfolio/lindale-high-school-indoor-practice-facility/

There’s basically no room for the pit or drum majors. I don’t even know where they plan to put judges. I hope the executive committee makes the decision to reschedule if weather is bad. Every single other 4A area reschedules the contest for Sunday, Monday, or Tuesday

crossing my fingers for Shepherd and Tarkington. And crossing my fingers for a weather change…It’s Texas, so anything can happen….

Thanks for posting... this was a pretty decent run in what looks like absolutely miserable conditions.

I absolutely hate the idea of using that facility. You are correct, the judges cannot get up high or sit back a bit from the band so that the sound blends when the band is spread out. And of course, no crowd energy either! They should just schedule an alternate rain out day like the other areas. I don’t think any of the directors want to use it. I think last year they all agreed they could work around rain delays to at least get a prelim round in. I would prefer that plan again.
