Baritone Legend Posted August 20, 2025 Posted August 20, 2025 I think this year will be another battle between CP and Rouse. I haven't seen or heard much about Leander's show. But I hope it's mad good! utee94 and ElectricTuba 2 Quote

It's really crazy that UIL Area will be the next actual competition for CP. There's LISD Festival of Bands and UIL Region in between now and then, but the next true competition won't be until 11/1. utee94 Posted September 22, 2025 Posted September 22, 2025 Tentative schedule is out, obviously things could change based on results at UIL Region. https://www.uilmusicregion11.org/uploads/1/3/5/3/13535811/2025_5a_area_h_mbc_tentative_schedule__1_.pdf Tubalord11 1 Quote
utee94 Posted September 30, 2025 Posted September 30, 2025 Went to the Leander ISD Festival of Bands last night and got to see some of the shows for the first time. I commented on the 6A bands in the other thread, but for 5A, man it's going to be a tight competition again. Rouse is as good as ever and I expect this show to grow throughout the year. Beautiful music as always. And I like the new uniforms, they're sharp. Glenn has such a good sound for its relative size. There's still some work to do here but it's fun watching them grow up and strive to move out from the shadow of the other Leander bands. Cedar Park, well I'm biased but I still have them at the top of this grouping. The CP ballad is the single best stretch of music and movement I saw all night, including the 6A bands. And Leander... hmmm, Leander. I do not know what to make of this show. I like the music for the most part, as expected they play it really well, I like the drill, and I love the theme and concept. But... but, those video screens. I tried desperately not to be distracted by them, and I just couldn't help it. The animation is great, it's sophisticated and professional, doesn't seem budget or cheap or overly cartoonish in any way. And it fits the music and story well. They're just so... large. And up-front. And unavoidable. I think I'm going to have to see that show a couple more times before I either get it, or decide that I just don't and never will. Quote
dullbanddad Posted October 1, 2025 Posted October 1, 2025 I'm curious, why is CP only doing 1 contest before regions? Don't they typically participate in the Texas Marching Festival at Kelly Reeves? Quote

Don't they typically participate in the Texas Marching Festival at Kelly Reeves? Good question, I'm really not sure. Maybe a result of trying to trim back on the competitions and the budget this year, after going to Grand Nationals last year? 2024 was an incredibly expensive and lengthy, exhausting marching season. But you're right, in the past CP has usually either done Texas Marching Classic at the KRAC, or something like BOA-Waco. In 2022 I think we might have done both? Regardless it's very strange that we won't have an actual tournament-style competition in between BOA-Austin back on 9/20, and UIL Area on 11/1. There's UIL Region on 10/15 but that's obviously not really the same. Tubalord11 and dullbanddad 2 Quote
GuardMom27 Posted October 6, 2025 Posted October 6, 2025 I apologize- this doesn’t fall under this topic specifically, but usually the region 32 site posts the performance schedule of all bands. I’m looking to see what times all the bands in our region perform on the 15th. The website is different this year and can’t find that. Anyone here know or have access to that? utee94 1 Quote

I've been looking as well. Would definitely love to see a schedule now that we're just a little over a week out. I kind of need to know how much time I'm taking off from work... 😄 Quote

utee94 Posted October 19, 2025 Posted October 19, 2025 So I've seen all of the Region 32 shows, but none of the others. For anyone who's seen some from the other regions, who should I be looking out for? I should have some time to watch a few other bands at the Area competition. Quote
GuardMom27 Posted October 19, 2025 Posted October 19, 2025 How is Boerne Champion this year? I remember being impressed with their show last year. They made Finals at Area but didn’t make state. I’m also curious about Glenn. I haven’t seen them yet this year. Quote
lhbenlee Posted October 20, 2025 Posted October 20, 2025 Is one of these bands doing military contest? There are only 24 on the schedule. 5 would still advance based on the count of qualifiers from region, correct? https://www.uilmusicregion11.org/uploads/1/3/5/3/13535811/final_2025_uil_5a_area_h_mbc_schedule.pdf utee94 1 Quote

Thanks. The UIL wording is based on bands qualifying for area, not participating, from what I can find. Quote
