I also agree that I don't see much of anything changing. It's going to be another bloodbath this upcoming season and unless you have something that just blows away what you did last year then good luck! This upcoming year is also the year before reclassification so it's curious to see if some of these schools will move up to 5A or stay in 4A. I know the 5A cut off numbers will go up but how much is unknown.

As far as the Lindale stadium goes, its a nice place but it's a difficult place to get in and out of when you got 23 4A bands competing. I also remember weather was a factor as well. Lindale is actually doing road construction as we speak to the school I believe to improve it.

Yes, there were some bands that travelled along way away but that's how the lines got drawn unfortunately and will probably be redrawn for the 26-27 season. Yes, we all hope that there can be a center place for Area but it's hard in band especially in Area C. I doubt you will probably ever seen Area C down in far south east Texas because 3/4 of the schools are in NE Texas. I know that was an issue for 3A Area C as they were having it down at SFA and most of the schools competing in that were over 2 hours away hence I think that was the reason they moved it this past year.

Speaking of the stadium situation, i was thinking if Gilmer would be able to host it. Right in the middle and has lots of space. the only thing that would be a problem is trying to get the Ad to let them use it.

Mount Pleasant could host it as well. They already host the region 4 marching contest. It could possibly work as well.

That's not really a good hosting location though. Favors the bands up north. 4A Area E would probably be closer for the SETX bands if Mount Pleasant hosted Area C.

There are several places in the Area that could host it. The problem is who wants to do it, there are several schools that have nice facilities but don't want to go through the trouble of hosting a huge event. I don't think Gilmer would be an option because it's more deeper east that would cause most schools that were in this Area to drive another hour at least to get there.

I don't see how Mt. Pleasant would help most of the schools that are in the Area. It's going to cause a longer drive for most of the schools and the competition that Mount Pleasant hosts is Regionals which bands show up, perform, get scores and leave. They are not there all day long which is what it would be for 20+ 4A Bands.

I am really intrigued about the show. Seems to be in a different direction than the previous shows. Was there a video at all? or just the show poster?

There was a video, but it won’t be posted till after middle school band banquet tonight. And yes, it’s going in a very different direction than what Lumberton has ever done.

There was definitely lots of controversy last year on multiple occasions. Some of the big talking points I heard where

-is Lindale's stadium big enough for a competition like this?

-should the region 25 schools have the later prelims performance?

-Should region 25 even be in this area?

those where just a couple of many I heard

The stadium size is fine, but the parking is horrible.  Barely enough room for the band trailers.  Warmup areas were a very long walk from the stadium.  Not sure why it has to be here when there may be better options in Tyler.  The 2.5 hour drive each way was real fun too.......  but some schools had an even longer drive than that.

I think sometimes the problem with moving it is if a school is willing to host it. I know several schools have been asked to host events in the past and passed. There are several places that have nice stadiums but don't have the space outside to accommodate 25 bands or more with numerous trailers and 18 wheelers. If you move it somewhere else it's one of those damned if you do and damned if you did not. No decision is going to be perfect for some schools. I know it sucks for some schools to drive over 3+ hours but I blame that on UIL making the entire Area all the way from the Red River to the Texas Coast. I'm expecting some of those schools near Dallas may go back to Area B after the next realignment comes out for the 2026-2027 school yr.

Do yall have any predictions now that most of the area finalist have revealed their show themes?

Here are my predictions.

1st/2nd: Celina/SS (again). Both bands should continue to have success in 4A. Although SS show theme has been done many times they do have some good music selections and seems like they will make it unique. I’m ready to see Celina’s show!!

3rd/4th: NL/PG. both of these bands have shows great improve these past few years and should be some top contenders at area and possibly state! I do think PG has a good chance to over come NL they have improved significantly every year and it seems that NL has struggled a bit since Mr. Jones left in 2023.

5th/6th: Lumberton/BC. These 2 bands always seem to be neck and neck. They both have really amazing shows but it’ll definitely be close! I could see Lumberton placing higher but I have them here for now. BC I’ve seen have their ups and downs. I honestly enjoyed their area performance more than state but we will see what happens!

7th/8th: Farmersville/VA. These 2 placements will be controversial if there are only 7 state qualifiers. In 2024 VA I think was supposed a state qualifier in prelims but dropped down in finals. After seeing FHS show theme I think it could really be a toss up. It’s a fun show but I don’t know how judges will feel about it. I have not yet seen anything from VA.

9th/10th/11th/12th: It could be really anyone here with the stacked area but I think the more likely ones will be Canton/PT/Community/WP/Sunnyvale. It’ll definitely be close but it’ll just depend on their execution. I did hear that PT is getting a new assistant director..

Unfortunately they don’t realign area very often. It was 20 years ago or so since the last area change for 3A/4A area c. Don’t look for them to move anyone back. But, the next realignment will move Celina to 5A so there’s that.

Do you mean a location change or realignment because I thought realignments were every two years.

This past realignment saw a few schools that were in 3A Area B and 4A Area B move to Area C. They can realign Area every 2 yrs just like they do with sports.
