saw a video of legacy ranch - i dont watch that many 4a bands so i dont know whats considered state finals caliber but i think they have a shot 👀

Yeah but remember that the judges weren’t judging all music. Judge 1 was WW, 2 was brass, and 3 was percussion. They just aren’t labeled that way on the results sheet (and I think they should be).

 

Most people don't know that, they just think all the judges are judging the same thing.

I don’t think so. PC was one of the first bands to go and CS one of the last. Looks like an early draw hurt PC. I think CS will slip this year. They don’t sound that good this year and the show is kinda boring. It’s not the kids fault. It the arrangement. I love new world symphony. I really dislike this take on it. State finals yes, but 7-9 place. PC is amazing. They are the only band I’ve seen that can legit challenge Celina.

This is my take as well. The scoring was a reflection of the prelims order. I was rooting for CS to come out on top but I knew how it would play out after watching finals. There was a clear divide between the two.

UIL has released the official schedule! What is everyone thinking so far?

Wish I could be there to see this in person, Valley View, Aubrey, and Celina back to back to back sounds like cinema.

Based on everything I have been able to see-

My predictions are-

1st- Celina

2nd- Sulphur Springs

3rd- Panther Creek

4th- Davenport

5th- China Spring

6th- Fredericksburg 

7th- Canyon

8th- Floresville (beat both Davenport and Calallen in prelims at Area)

9th- Calallen

10th- Krum (could also see North Lamar, West Plains, and possibly even bands such as Legacy Ranch, Freeman, or Cooper-Liberty fighting for this spot)

 

Should be a fun one to see who advances to finals this year.

 North Lamar (a long shot I know but I’m hoping)

Sulphur (wild I know)

Canyon (I can see them moving way, way up)

valley view (long shot I know, also maybe Krum or Fredericksburg)

Hot take, I watched a video of CS from area. I don’t see them in the top 5. I think they struggle to make finals. 
 

I don’t think NL is a long shot for top 5 at all. Competitive for a medal even. I think you’re right about Sulphur. I still haven’t seen Davenport. Any vids?

I think Krum is solid for finals.

I feel a little weird ranking CS that high. Largely basing it on their scores at area b. They weren’t that far behind PC. Had Randy jones not ranked them so low, they might’ve won prelims. I would love to see a west Texas band move into the top 5, but having not seen them in person idk where to exactly place them.

I did see them at Melissa but it was so early in the year that I can’t be certain how they’ve improved. I’m in the same boat because I’d like to see Canyon High crack the top 5, BUT I haven’t seen any of the other area bands. Canyon has a solid show. Is it enough, I don’t know.

I think they can do it this year! Very solid show. Both West Plains and Randall have been to state finals over the past 3 years so I think both could find themselves there again this year, but not in the top 5.

I unfortunately think the same for WP and Randall. I loved Randall’s show last year and this year. It’s also extremely impressive that WP has made state all 4 years they’ve been open.

i would personally have panther creek at the top, they performed early in the morning at area and was 1st to perform for the top half bottom half portion (in bottom half obviously). performing that early both prelims and finals while making 1st in both should definetly give them more credit than they're already being given

I would agree. I don’t think SS will beat them. For me they are the most serious of contenders for the throne.
