2008 BOA Regional & Grand Nationals
titancoaster replied to mbui's topic in Past Contests, Events, and Festivals Archive
wow, this is the first time in seven years that Connally has gone to BOA on a state year, but then again our show sounds really cool, so we should do well. I am just disappointed not to see LD Bell there, its my favorite part of BOA Finals. -
so we had DM tryouts today, and I got in, and we added a third for the first time in seven years, but im so happy right now!!!!!

Well this year NB Canyon marched the Ascension, the full piece, it was cool to see a seamless show, but it wasnt as good as poeple think it would be, because as with concerts or marching show you hear mulitple, different themes among the pieces, but with only one piece you were exposed to a lot less literature

^ I completly agree, there are ALOT of bands with momentum in many different ways in area D it will be one amazing competition, I really think on that saturday next october we will see all 10 final (and alot of prelim) bands put their heart, body, and mind on that field. I get goosebumps just thinking about it ! -

lol, our football team is in one very hard district (westlake, bowie, pflugerville), I am going to miss these past few years where we won most of our games, next year, its going to be about our fine arts to carry us the first few years as a five a. oh and i feel really really sorry for anybody who plays at our stadium next year, the visitors stand is really small, and half of it will be going to the bands (I.E. BOWIE) -

Best Rising Bands in the State

UIL basing thier class sizes off of one school is kind of rediculous, the real way they decide is Conference AAAAA should consist of a minimum of 220 schools and a maximum of 245 schools participating in football (depending on how many new schools there are next alignment period); Conferences AA through AAAA should consist of a number of schools such that the enrollment ratio in grades 9-12 between the largest school and the smallest school is approximately 2.0. There should be at least 200 schools each in Conferences AA and AAAA. Conference A shall consist of all schools that are not in Conferences AA-AAAAA. (as posted by the University Scholastic League) Oh, and Connally is about 30 students under the old 5A cutoff, so everybody in our school is praying that the minimum number of students for 5A raises. -
I think the football crowd at our home field is very well behaved, they applaud every band that takes the field, whether they are better than us or worse. On away games it varies, like when we went to Dripping Springs, the home crowd was almost silent for us, but treated their home band will less respect. And of course there are school who try to clap off beat and blow air horns off tempo to try and throw us off, it is all just a matter of where you are at, but it seem in most cases the better the band the better the crowd.

We did that thingy last year, its pretty cool, but nothing major. You preform your concert program (we did our UIL program) in the UT Bates Recital Hall and then get an hour clinic over the music, and as a requirement of going, you must listen to two other bands. Not too many bands participated (us and Vista were the only 4A last year) but it is cool to play in Bates, and last year the whole thing was on a live stream over the internet.

lol, another thing that helped, I sprawled out on the waiting chair, and closed my eyes, and pretended I was going to bed, it was so great I was comfortable, loose, and relaxed I owned on the etudes I did that on but, on the second etude I was first so no ready chair, and I got really nervous and that killed my chances for area, oh well 7th out of 62 in the region still isnt bad. (escpecially considering THREE state finalists were in our region)

I dont know if they tore up our signs, or just ripped them off the seats and threw them off the ground , but either way is unacceptable, I think its terrible that parents have to show up early just to beat out a few poteet parents who save an entire section (and again I love thier band, they deserved first, and am not sore in any way)

titancoaster replied to MaverickBand15's topic in Everything Music: Marching, Concert, Auditions and more
I must agree, that I LOVE our semi- new (second year in use) uniforms! But I also like bowies and Carmel's, with Carmels being by far my favorite!
