I am in your band. We have not done what the Cavaliers have done. Please see the video. I have a copy too if you want to see it.

I'm pretty sure that the Cavaliers 2002 show is different from the 2001 and 2003 shows. Especially in the drum breaks. Original compositions are really started to diverse the corps. It gives the audience something new to listen to. Entertainment wise, the Cavalier's 2002 drum break was downright awesome. The drill was downright awesome. Let's see if your band can have their shoulders square to the sideline and march at 180ish and moving in straight lines toward the center of the field all at the same time. And keep the theme of Frameworks, constant throughout the show. Not to mention that if a show lacks entertainment (a.k.a. GE) that you will not score a 99.15.

My bad--5 times since '74 including 2005. But it still doesn't take away from what BD has done. But I am pretty sure my math is pretty decent. When you make a 630 out of 800 on the SAT in math, the "new math" is pretty good. It is the English department that you have to worry about. They might not teach us how to find fact carefully enough.

I have been blessed with an awesome school and section. We rehearse in silence unless a band director, techs, or field officers tells us something to improve on. We talk during our "two-minute" water breaks. The second we hit the field, dead silence occurs. It is truly amazing. It is not something that can just be done. People have to understand why their is a need to be quiet. Thus there in no need for push-ups, laps, etc. I guess that is why we get so much accomplished. -
I'm gonna be the dumb one here

My top 12 in order: 1) Blue Devils 2) Cavaliers 3) Bluecoats 4) Cadets 5) Carolina Crowm 6) Phantom Regiment 7) Santa Clara Vanguard 8) Madison Scouts 9) Boston Crusaders 10) Glassmen 11) Blue Knights 12) Crossmen This is without hardly any idea of what some of the corps are doing. I know BD is doing The Godfather, Part Blue. The Cavaliers are doing something (correct me if I am wrong) original. Bluecoats has a show called Connexus in the works. Cadet's music (as of right now from the clips) is not that good to me. Crown has a great brassline (expect great things). Phantom--haven't heard anything to really talk about. Santa Clara is in a rebuilding year-but you never know. The Scouts are probably playing something Latin. Glassmen, Blue Knights, and Crossmen to balance the last three spots. This year is going to be a fun one. Innovation is on the rise. Music is shifting into more of a balance state between technique and in-your-face loud type of playing. I wonder how cool the drill is going to be. How will the new rules change the corps? And will Madison ever play something besides Latin Music ? I picked the Blue Devils to take all the marbles because of their consistant excellence. They always have a great hornline. The Cavaliers are second in my book because only since about 2000 have they been 'good' and I just don't see how Michael Gaines can write any better drill. Bluecoats will have an amazing year. David Glasgow has turned this corps into a true contender. He knows how to get things done. Cadets in fourth because, once again, of their clips. It just doesn't seem to be a great arrangement. Carolina Crown is on the similar paths of the Bluecoats. Those kids know how to play their horns with dynamics. Phantom Regiment--who knows. SCV might make some kicks going into Final's week. Last year resembled a change in their program. Expect them to be back in 2007 for their how show in the Rose Bowl. Madison--Latin music-again. Glassmen ?. Blue Knights?. I picked the Crossmen to beat out Spirit and the Colts for the coveted last spot in finals.

1995 Madison Scouts 1993 Star of Indiana 1998 Santa Clara 1998 Cadets of Bergen County Althought the music of Shostakovich was good for Phantom: 1) '95 Madison was loud, high. clean, and oh ya did I mention loud. 2) '93 Star of Indiiana was one THE BEST SHOWS EVER! They dominate the year hands down. 3) '98 SCV had a rockin' show to the music of Copland. 4) '98 Cadets was a vision of the glory days of the mid-80s. I would at least listen to these shows and possibly watch them. '96 Phantom was good but they are not the top on my list. I am willing to say that even '93 Phantom was better than '96. And besides--they were on last years countdown.

I think we should make a TxBands Euph line shirt. But better than the trumpets, since we are simply the best.

Its that time again. Time to vote for the all-time greatest corps in history. I am going to give you a run-down of my picks and how they made my cuts. Here we go: 1970s: 1) 1979 Madison Scouts-they played: The Sorcerer and the Latin - Les Brown Bohemian Rhapsody - Queen Granada Smoothie - Mark Taylor Pieces of Dreams - Michel Legrand The hook that made me love this show was Bohemian Rhapsody. The squealer played freakin' high and loud. I think I have a recording of it too, so just pm me. 2) 1975 Santa Clara Vanguard-they played: Entrance of the Emperor and His Court (from "Hary Janos Suite") - Zoltan Kodaly Dance of the Buffoons (from "The Snow Maiden") - Nicolai Rimsky-Korsakov Selections from Fiddler on the Roof - Jerry Bock, Sheldon Harnick It was the year after the first DCI crown was awarded and they were thirsty for more. Solid Brass, good marching, and the Fiddler. 1980s: 1) 1989 Blue Devils-they played: Ya Gotta Try - Sammy Nestico If We Were in Love - John Williams, Alan Bergman, Marilyn Bergman Allegre - Claude Bolling Johnny One Note - Richard Rodgers, Lorenz Hart Gotta love this show. They have a very special trumpet player that awesome in their own way. For those of ya'll that have heard or seen this show, you know what I mean. 2) 1984 Garfield Cadets-they played: West Side Story - Leonard Bernstein, Stephen Sondheim This is a corps that plays with some huge balls. This was the middle year of their three-peat in the mid-1980s. Once again, they just play loud. 3) 1989 Phantom Regiment-they played: New World Symphony - Antonin Dvorak They came second only to the Phantom itself. Standard Regiment at its best. Very good hornline with some thrown back drill. 4) 1989 Cadets of Bergen County-they played: Les Miserables - Claude-Michel Sch
