  1. I don't think so. I believe most of their stuff is from Verdi's Requiem. They did "Equus" in 2005. And to answer lustra.exe's question, GN finals order is a totally random draw like Super-Regional.
  2. So I just realized that L.D. Bell is the third consecutive Class AAA Champion to come from Texas. Let's hope they can translate that into an Eagle unlike Reagan and The Woodlands before them....... I really want to believe you Danpod. At least they aren't going first (which is what probably killed Reagan and The Woodlands in their recent finals appearances.) There is just too much time between Bell and those other two bands I mentioned. That muddies the waters. Let's not forget that BA jumped from 4-1 last year. It could happen again.
  3. Performance order (according to Danpod on the live blog): Center Grove L.D. Bell Richland Marian Catholic Avon Plymouth-Canton Lawrence Central The Woodlands Broken Arrow Stephen F. Austin Harrison Carmel Oh dear. L.D. Bell performing second (and way far away from Carmel and Broken Arrow) is giving me anxiety.
  4. Shoot! I can't edit the first post anymore Results: Class A Music: Adair County Visual: Adair County GE: Adair County 1st: Adair County 2nd: Fred J. Broken Arrow 7. Avon 8. Carmel 9. Marian Catholic 10. Richland (!!!!) 11. SFA (!!!!!!) 12. Harrison Plus A Exhibition by Adair County. :-( No Reagan or Clear Brook. If we could get rid of my first results post, that would be great.
  5. K, seriously UMass? I have a paper to type and I can't focus until I hear semis results, so the sooner we get this over with, the better. You guys can play *after* the results.
  6. I have no idea why I am so emotionally invested in this contest, but I am. Everyone at the MFA forum seems to think Reagan is out and Richland is on the border. Let's cross our fingers that they both make it (and it would be awesome if Clear Brook could sneak in too.)
  7. Wow! Impressive work from The Woodlands. Can't wait to see it with professional audio.
  8. Ooh! I second the request for 80's music. Let me shuffle through my 80's playlist and see what I can find........... Here's a good one: He says that he's going to marry me And we can raise a little family Maybe we'll be alright It's a sacrifice But my friends keep telling me to give it up Saying I'm too young, I oughta live it up What I need right now is some good advice
  9. Haha. My grandmother went to Sunset, so I'd be okay if they won. Gotta love DISD. Is Jefferson the only DISD school to make a first division at region marching contest this decade?
  10. Haha. We used to get that a whole lot. Dr. Ralph H. Poteet High School (the one who won SMBC) is in Mesquite, which shares a border with East Dallas (Fair Park area if that means anything to you.) It is one of five high schools in Mesquite ISD and one of two 4A schools. It's in the same UIL region as Garland, Richardson, Rockwall, Forney, Greenville, Canton, Mabank, and several very small cities.
  11. I remember that. It was pretty crazy. I mean I know it was an upset but..........geez. At least they waited for the drum majors to leave the field.
  12. Wow.....small turnout. I thought Longview, Humble, Nacogdoches, etc. usually went to this. I'm really surprised the block of Region 4/21 bands that bailed on on area marching contest didn't come to this.
  13. I think longhornsax was talking about how the DMs from Poteet jumped over the fence to get to the band for dismissal. They should probably have shaken hands with the other drum majors, but I don't think the physical action of getting to the band was too crazy. If we want to talk about excessive celebration after winning, I remember when Cedar Park won in 2001 and the entire band stormed the Baylor field and was going nuts. Security had a fun time with that. Or when Coppell won in 1999 and a student ran across the field with a GIANT mustang flag before the drum majors had even left the field. I don't know what he was going to do with it if Coppell had not won, but there you have it.
  14. Yeah, the football parents are the ones who blow up the tunnel and they are very, very rude. The whole "state champ" thing surprises me though because they are usually not very nice to the PHS band.
  15. Well I definitely agree that Poteet's parents can be a bit overzealous when it comes to reserving seats. I remember back when Coppell and Colleyville Heritage were 4A.......it was basically a three-way feeding frenzy when the gates would open for state marching contest. Now I guess Poteet is the lone seat snatcher.
  16. Well, I can't attest to the DMs jumping the fence, but Poteet always dismisses in the stands after every performance. They did the same thing in prelims and they would have done it if they hadn't won.
  17. Wow, that really sucks. I'm sorry your parents had to deal with that. PHS parents are usually great and I'd like to think this was a novice group who didn't know how to conduct themselves at a contest. That, however, is still no excuse for their behavior. I hope Mr. Portillo lets Mr. Coulson know about this.
  18. Wow! Way to go Hanks and Americas! It's sometimes easy to forget about the great band programs in El Paso and I am happy to see these two bands representing Texas well!
  19. Poteet state finals: http://www.poteetpirateband.org/video/State07.html
  20. 12th at state is a pretty big accomplishment. You guys should be proud!
  21. True. Dripping Springs and Vista Ridge are definitely on the way up. And I think New Braunfels probably would have made finals too if they had advanced.
  22. I totally agree. I think that at the rate they are going, they should at least medal next time around. I'd like to see them get back into the BOA circuit next season after they started off strong in 2005. I think they'll make some noise.
  23. Well, after briefly reviewing both shows it seems that you are correct about the keys. I think I was confused by the end of Poteet's show with the screaming double tonguing trumpets.
