  1. True it's not all about the scores. But personally, as long as the Cavies drill writer is our schools drill writer, I'll hafta stick with them! CAN'T WAIT TILL DCI DENTON!
  2. ehh, i didn't really care. I was used hearing it by then. which is sad.
  3. yes... they need all the help... well she needs all the help she can get. Our director finally bought a new reed for her at our first concert cus it sounded... less than bearable by then.
  4. Really? I could have sworn I saw it on your website... Well, apparently the only other competition occuring on that day is the DMI, so who knows...
  5. So Frisco Centennial is finally hosting their own marching competition this year. I just wanted to see if you knew who was going, because my mom says that we have almost 15 5A bands signed up. I know for sure that in 5A we have Plano East. 3A bands are Liberty and Wakeland so far. let me know. I'm really curious.
  6. Don't count on that anymore. I feel bad for FHS now after their directors changed and everything restarted again.
  7. I know a clarinet who used the same reed from July until December, every contest/football game and concert... let's just say that it wasn't really pleasant sounding by the time mid August hit.
  8. Gosh, a flash flood watch until TOMORROW AFTERNOON! that's insane.. I'm praying that this means it'll be nice and cool during band camp!
  9. Haha, it is mean, but it's true. We had this Taiwanesse guy in our pit for a few years and he was amazing! everybody called him Sensai cus he was perfect at the marimba and w/e else he had to do. And pokemon. OUr band had a pokemon tournament at our spring trip this past year. Our band director joined in but he was eliminated the first round. He got really defensive too when we asked him about why he lost. lol.
  10. only true band nerds would say stuff like this...
  11. yup, ntca for now. We're going after cross town rivals FHS, the scholastic a champions for the longest time. But hopefully we can make a shocking appearance at WGI
  12. our guard is just barely getting good enough. Thank GOD our new c.g. director is as amazing as he is. He took our girls from last place in Cadet league, to 1st place Novice and 1st place Regional A. I'm expecting a third championship in a row in Scholastic AAA
  13. ok, since i'm horrible at detecting sarcasm, so are you being serious? That made me feel stupid.
  14. Awesome! So July 20th-21st is now officially my favorite weekend in history.
  15. Wait, what about DCI San Antonio? is it that weekend as well??? If I could go to San An that weekend, then my life would be on cloud nine.
  16. Hahaha. I'm more of a fan of the whole global warming crap myself... speaking of the weather, It's currently raining outside RIGHT NOW! and in the alley behind me, the water is a grand total of 2 and 1/2 feet deep right now!!
  17. More like a "jazz band gone wild" sort of thing... But close enough. =]
  18. Haha, yah I do know a lot more than I should about some people... Lol. Pit people are weird! here, they are basically the Rejects of the Rejected.
  19. I know for a fact that "Turbine" was written based on John Mackey's fear of flying.
  20. I'm not really sure. I'll try to find out though.
  21. uhm, yah it's like a 8 year difference I think. but close enough. His name is Steven Linley and he's 17. He played timpani last year at Marcus.
  22. oooops, my bad. I could have sworn they were 4 and 5 though, just because they bottom 5 or 6 bands were all 4A.
  23. Unfortunately, that's Usually the case w/ most band arrangements. Avoid the Dvorak 8 and Tchaikovsky 4 band arrangements... those are crap.
  24. This isn't a band piece, but We're playing it in my String Quartet... if you can find an arrangement of it for band, You'll love it! but anyways, Shostakovich's String Quartet #8 Is the BEST piece of music I've EVER heard.
