Dripping Springs just absolutely dropped the hammer in Lucas Oil!!! I’m astonished by how this group continually makes this show better and better, and the sound they produced today was phenomenal! For me, this isn’t even considered a bubble band anymore, this is in. Fingers crossed for one more run here!

Back to back great runs from Texas. Outside of some visual things at the end, really strong. WWs projection is incredibly impressive with how thinly orchestrated things are at times, definitely the highlight of this run. Don't wanna jinx anything, but this is firmly in finals. ALSO GUARD?!?! Outstanding!

UIL 6A State Marching Contest 2026 (Nov. 9 & 10)
WanderingTraveler replied to BassistNo1's topic in UIL: Upcoming Contests
Yeah I think top 3 at 5A state moving up will cause a big shift and disrupt the 6A finals landscape. Just seeing where these bands place alongside them at local contests and BOA, they should be performing well right off the bat. -
The more I watch these shows, the more I am thankful that there is a semis at this contest…That finals bubble is going to be crazy competitive. I think these Texas bands win in the balance and sound category 9 times out of 10. But there have been some great visual and effect performances from these non Texas bands.

1. What is the hardest piece(s) of band music you've ever played? What instrument(s) did you play it on? 100% Dionysiaques on Clarinet 2. Did you play the piece(s) in high school? College? High School Baylor Summer Camp & again in College 3. What made the piece(s) hard for YOU? What made it hard for the whole ensemble? How was your part significantly harder (or easier) than other parts in the ensemble? One of the most unnatural jumble of notes on a page I have ever seen. No fundamentals, scales, etc could have prepared me for how absolutely random the runs in this piece were. I attached a picture of a random 2 bar segment for reference. Pretty sure the whole ensemble was on the same page, but it came together for the concert. Combined with how ridiculously fast this piece was, its hard to find places to blink. 4. Was the piece(s) musically difficult? Technically difficult? Or both? What made it that way? Technically, some tuning stuff with weird instrumentation in sections, but overall just straight technical.

Is it acceptable for the bands to wear costumes for area😂

SLC: And theres the Texas sound! This show has improved a lot from my last viewing of it! Great run! Lots of good things going on here, from sound, to some cool visual effects and beyond. Great low brass sounds and high brass technical features across the show. Percussion was exposed and showing off, some good chops throughout. I think visual performance was incredibly strong today, especially from BOA standards. Love the small ensemble on the stages once the "Southlake Carroll" tarps drop, super fun part of the show. More to say, but I see no way this doesn't advance to semis, great job!
