I'll get to see Lindale, Brownsboro, Beckville and Chapel Hill in action this Monday at the Mineola Marching Festival.

This is the final schedule for the Mineola Marching Festival that will be held on Monday October 9th, 2023. Several schools that typically compete in this event have a 4-Day Weekend. Mineola usually gives awards for Military and also for Corps.

If I remember the contest was a bit different last year and lasted forever. I think they had over 30 bands and did a 3A/4A Finals then did a 5A/6A finals that didn't start until after 10pm if I remember correctly.

Still waiting on a schedule for the contest on Monday 10/9. Rumor is there are 23 bands performing with an exhibition from the TJC Apaches. So far I have confirmed the following bands Tenaha Beckville Brownsboro Lindale Sunnyvale

The first place I would reach out to is the Band Director for Channelview. Typically, when a school is hosting a marching contest the band director for the hosting school creates the schedule or someone from the band staff does. If there festival is this coming Saturday, they should by now have a schedule made.

I hope to get my hands on something this evening or tomorrow on it.

They didn't rank schools in Prelims. They just did Caption Awards which I posted and then announced finalists.

Yeah, typically judges should usually be 2-3 places within each other but when you see judges scattered all over the place it makes you scratch your head.

If you look a few posts up, you can see the prelim scores. Nobody has posted the final round scores.

Area C always has the big hitters for 3A. Based on what I saw at Melissa this past weekend. Mineola is on a mission with making it to finals over several 4A State Finalists and several other 5A and 6A bands. Of course their guard got 2nd overall in prelims behind Anna. A few parents and kids I talked to to me said that their show was not finished. The season is still early for everyone so anything can happen.

I was there and have to agree with you. I think one of the things that helps Anna is their guard has been really really strong. I think the judges pretty much got it right based on what I saw. Of course, for almost everyone this was the first competition out of the gate and many shows had several things missing in props, music and some did not even attempt a 3rd movement. One of the things I like to see each week when I go see some of the same shows is what got tweaked (added/taken way) from the previous show. Celina/S.S./North Lamar/Canton will be at Princeton and then SS will be at Sunnyvale in the afternoon this coming weekend. So, I guess S.S. is going to try and go to finals in Sunnyvale. Anna is not competing this weekend and China Spring is staying close to home and doing the Midway Preview.
