I was there and have to agree with you. I think one of the things that helps Anna is their guard has been really really strong. I think the judges pretty much got it right based on what I saw. Of course, for almost everyone this was the first competition out of the gate and many shows had several things missing in props, music and some did not even attempt a 3rd movement. One of the things I like to see each week when I go see some of the same shows is what got tweaked (added/taken way) from the previous show. Celina/S.S./North Lamar/Canton will be at Princeton and then SS will be at Sunnyvale in the afternoon this coming weekend. So, I guess S.S. is going to try and go to finals in Sunnyvale. Anna is not competing this weekend and China Spring is staying close to home and doing the Midway Preview.

What about 3A Mineola moving into the Finals? Looks like they might be looking for a 4-Peat in 3A this year. If you made finals in this competition you had to be good today.

So, Lonestar is not the same Lone Star from Frisco? Lone Star from Frisco was a 2021 State Finalist but they did not make it to the evening Finals.

Yes, with UIL now every year it's going to be hard on several programs that are underfunded or small schools to put on a good show year in and year out which would bring out more parody in results with the exception of some schools that are competitive year in and year out.

Also, Sunnyvale is having a band competition the same day. If I remember the past few years several bands would play Mesquite then either go and play at Sunnyvale or Princeton as well.

Mesquite always has a band competition every year. However, there are several other competitions around the area that same weekend as well. I know there is a big one the same day in Princeton as well.

Hard to make predictions before the first competitions begin. However, I expect some of the repeats to be there again like Mineola, Red Water, Queen City, Whitesboro, Atlanta. We might see Howe, Commerce, Mt. Vernon, Winnsboro, Cameron Yoe, Grandview as well. Mineola trying to win their 4th straight state championship.

Princeton usually has a full lineup each year. Mesquite and Sunnyvale are also having a competition the same day and in the past several bands try to perform at either Mesquite or Sunnyvale and Princeton.

I see Royse City is doing another Marching Contest, anyone have a tentative list of schools preforming?
