  1. I really don't know how you could fix how some Areas are just insanely stronger than others. Yes, you can redraw the lines every two years but that doesn't change a lot of things for the great band programs. I know there was talk about creating the new rule where if your AREA medaled that the following season you would get to send an additional school from your AREA to State. Which if that was the case for this past season then at 3A Area C instead of sending 5 schools to state you would have been able to send 8 which you could make somewhat of an argument that there could be 8 schools deserving to go to State. I think though this argument got tabled for future discussions or rejected. I'm sure probably somewhere down the road there will be a change or two that will happen to all competitions.
  2. Yes, was referring to Finals. Yes, Mineola has been beat at Prelims. I don't take a lot of stock in Prelims because everyone has been beaten before even Celina last year. Yes, you get some good feedback and then adjust for Finals where typically bands bring their best.
  3. As for me I am going based on what I have seen in person. I have seen many of the shows more than once. I would agree that AREA C regardless if it's 3A or 4A is very competitive. Where else are you going to say the Top 3 from last year came from the same Area. I just hate that there is going to be at least 1 school that made it to State last year that will not get to go this year.
  4. Until I see Mineola get beat at Area it's hard to go against them, I can't remember but hasn't Mineola won Area like 6-7 years in a row? Yes, I think Winnsboro has a good program but I don't think they have really been tested in competition. Yes, they beat Redwater at Finals in Mineola but that's really the only big victory they have this season and a good majority of people I know still don't know how Winnsboro was able to do that based on what they have seen. Of course anything can take place tomorrow, I know last year it was as close as it can get with Mineola winning by 1 or 2 pts I think and 3 points separated the Top 3. I think it's gonna be a battle between Mineola and Redwater with Atlanta maybe sticking their head in there and then Winnsboro/Queen City/Commerce battling for those last 2 spots.
  5. Good luck to the bands this weekend! Area C always fun to watch!
  6. In case you were not aware in Texas. Snapshot Day is Friday October 31st, 2025 where schools will have to submit their enrollment for the year. .
  7. I don't think there is a judge out there that is intentionally trying to sabotage anyone. I don't have a dog in the hunt either as I just like to watch high school marching bands. I do question at times how judges ended up scoring an event and why. Correct me if I am wrong but I heard that UIL monitors the judges at the State Meets and has a system in place to try and prevent someone from going Rogue. Kind of like a replay booth that gets flagged if they see some odd scoring taking place.
  8. Not to mention Chuck gave PG a 2 in Prelims then turned around and gave them a 9 in Finals which you could argue cost PG a trip to state. They tied Canton for 6th but Canton had a 4th Place Vote and got the tie breaker.
  9. Someone wake up Area C and tell them to post recaps. I'm sitting here at the office on my lunch break and want something to look at.
  10. true but lots of times. all three sections play into each other if a band is really good they should score high across the board. Typically at state a top level band is not going to score a 1,1,9 you probably see more of like a 1,2,3 in some order.
  11. Typically you should see judges scores close to each other or maybe 2-3 off but when you see 1 judge way off everyone else it makes you question what they were seeing. Of course not all judges can be the same there are some good judges out there and some that have differences in what they like and don't like.
  12. I doubt that with the insane growth and building that is going on around there.
  13. Was not able to post much at the end, site was not working due to all the 6A people who were bogging the site down. Still waiting on recaps
  14. Final Results 12th Wills Point 11th Mabank 10th Van Alstyne 9th Lumberton 8th Farmersville 7th PG 6th Canton (State Bound) 5th Bridge Creek (State Bound) 4th Pine Tree (State Bound) 3rd North Lamar (State Bound) 2nd Sulphur Springs (State Bound) 1st Celina (State Bound)
  15. Sorry, had to charge phone. Here is how I scored it 1. Celina 2. Sulphur Springs 3. North Lamar 4. Bridge Creek 5. PG 6. Lumberton 7. Farmersville 8. Pine Tree 9. Canton 10. Wills Point 11. Van Alstyne 12. Mabank
  16. Bridge City is next! Wonderful show! Very powerful sound! Once again might just be me but still had 95 seconds left could have gave us some more.
  17. 30-40 seconds sure? 90 though? That’s leaving points out there.
  18. Pine Tree was next. Very impressive. Had me sucked into the music. A few feet issues nothing major. Not a big fan of hiding the band while percussion played for 30 seconds. Band could have been visible doing something. Great guard play. I could see them being moved down.
  19. Oh Sulphur Springs!! So much in that show! Very powerful, great shapes, very fluid. State show in my book!
  20. Here is how I have them after the 1st set 1 Lumberton 2 Farmersville 3 Canton 4 Wills Point 5 Van Alstyne 6 Mabank
  21. Wills Point closes us out in the 1st set. Not to sure on this there were highs and lows. I was expecting more sound and at times felt a little lost. Good visuals good marching, just didn’t feel like this was a performance that was fighting to get back into the Top 6
  22. Mabank a band with no props and thrills just came out to Greenday and had the crowd excited! I wanted to get out there and jump around with them at the beginning to celebrate. Good job but the show was missing a lot for my taste.
  23. Farmersville was next! Very visually appealing, props set the mood. Amazing soloist and duet at the end! Very playful at times and great sound. Would love to have seen more complexed marching.
  24. Lumberton!! Give me some more of that! At first I was like “not another Alice in Wonderland Show”. I was worried at first but after the first 30 seconds I was hooked. The duet was excellent not to fond on the second solo but I can see them as a contender!
  25. Canton was next!! Wonderful job! Outstanding marching with stuff going on everywhere and with complex marching. Very nice sound and blend with lots of fluidity.
