What shows have you seen?
radchad replied to longhornsax's topic in Everything Music: Marching, Concert, Auditions and more
It was definitely better in many aspects. This time the eyes didn't do as much... which, actually took away from the performance, I think. It did to me. Much cleaner this week though. Definitely starting to like the show. -
This will be my second time auditioning for the Bluecoats. Hopefully this time I make it past the final cut. D:

Agreed. Never count out a band too early. -

Well, predictions are altered and changed with every recent performance. I can't make a prediction now off a show a certain band is going to have in the future because I am not psychic. What else do we have to predict off of? It's not like it's going to make a difference, anyway. I am pretty sure a forum won't alter the judges' opinions. Lol. It's just sort of.. we base it off of what we see now. When a new competition arises, we will then base it off what we see then. I hope that made sense.. -
Leading the pack

I don't think there will be a battle for first. I think LD Bell will win. I also think someone has a chance of knocking Marcus out of the second place slot. It's between SFA, Cedar Park, and Woodlands. Based on how well improvement has been from week to week, and how strong each of these bands were at their first competitions, of course. Idk. I just don't think Marcus has the momentum they had in previous years. Then again, I have not seen SFA or Marcus's closer, so I can't be too sure. I based SFA on how well they did at Houston. -

I just realised how vague I was. I am a member of the Music For All Network. Is that the same as the BOA Fan Network? -

Um. She didn't bad mouth anyone. Nor was she rude. Flowermound did only beat Mansfield by .1 of a point. She was stating fact. Also, saying that there was an energy field like no other and that it was their best performance is in NO WAY disrespectul. Please calm down. Legacy has a whole thread about them in the other forum. I'm pretty sure it's the same difference. -

Oh, I thought this was performances you have seen at football games.. If it's overall, then I have seen everyone at BOA Arlington, everyone at TOC, everyone at Birdville, plus a few games I have gone to. Don't get me wrong, I like your show. I was just saying I want more from it. :] I am a Hebron fan, so please don't feel like I am trying to be rude. I am really critical on visual.. so sometimes I am a little harsh. I am working on it. -

Both Mansfield and Legacy had not-so-good runs from what I saw. Both shows are great musically. They just both need some cleaning on the visual aspect. Both schools should be proud to be making a name for themselves this year. Btw, props to Argyle. Doing an old LD Bell show and pulling out some of those crazy drills moves. My hat(if I was wearing one.. lol) is off to you. -
What's wrong with doing the same arrangements? SCV '99 is one of my top 3 DCI shows. I would be mighty impressed to hear a high school marching band play the same arrangement with at least somewhat good comprehension. As long as the show wasn't the exact same, there isn't much wrong with it. I mean, there are only so many ways to arrange a piece of music.

I've seen: Timberivew. Mansfield. Summit. Legacy. Haltom. Creekview. Wylie. Argyle. Aledo. Bowie. Some interesting stuff out there. Argyle is the band I am most impressed with. I hope they win 3A state. Mansfield is well on their way to having an outstanding show if they can clean it up visually. Love the Bumblebee section of Haltom's show. Legacy has some cool audio, but like Mansfield it needs a lot of work visually. I can't wait to see LD Bell. -

My favorite of the night was definitely Argyle. They REALLY stepped up to the plate and prived they could hang with the big boys. -
I used to have a recording of that show, but it was on an older camera. That was back when I was into DCI, but I wasn't a nerd because I couldn't pay for it or drive myself to any of the shows. It sucked because I am the only music person in my family. The only videos I could find are these: By the way, the percussion book for this show.. was one of the best I have ever seen. (Coming from someone who isn't a percussionist.)
-
That all depends on how many shows you have seen. ;P I'm different than most. My favorite Cavaliers show is '04. They just haven't been as ALL AROUND spectacular since then. Visually they are unbelievable.. musically.. I hope next year there is more in their show. Machine = Visually Awesome Musically = Not much melody.
