  1. Cedar Park is such a joy to watch. Professionals at work.
  2. Wow. Lone Star! Just wow. Hallelujah solo gave me goosebumps. Huge sound for so early this morning. Just WOW!
  3. And we’re off with a long day at the Alamodome! Leave it all in the field!
  4. With the addition of more schools, 5A Area B will soon be sending five schools to state, not four. So anything is possible.
  5. It'll be so much fun to see how third through sixth shakes out. And while it feels that 1-2 is a lock, it's always exciting for the possibility of the establishment being challenged. You just never know ...
  6. Really excited to see the CP-Rouse battle take place on the Alamodome field yet again. Last year's shows were incredible. In four trips, they've never left us disappointed. Can't wait to see how this year's contest shakes out.
  7. That's my point. Aesthetically, it's pleasing and precise -- as Wakeland shows have come to be known for. However, it lacks degree of difficulty and the "wow" factor they've had in past years. It's TOO minimalistic.
  8. This is just an observation: Wakeland does what they do VERY well, and I have the UTMOST respect for the product they put on the field, but I have to point this out. If you look at their show this year, they are marching in lines (and mini formations) that are just 2-5 people deep -- for the majority of the entire show. Of course the forms and straight lines and diagonals look cleaner, because it's minimalistic and lacks the degree of difficulty that bands with lines of 15-20 deep have. Before the comments flow in, and understanding the point I'm trying to make, take a few minutes to watch Wakeland's show and then tell me why I'm wrong.
  9. area-24_5A Area B 2024.pdf
  10. Early call times for LS and Wakeland in San Antonio.
  11. This! The gap is getting closer and closer. Congrats to both these programs for continuing to absolutely bring it in this loaded area! To have these schools, which are just 3 miles from each other and split kids from the same feeder programs, finish this close to each other is just insane. Sad for LT. Loved their show. And I agree this area deserves 5, but what can you do. Congrats to all the finalists and see you in San Antonio!
  12. 10. Heritage 9. Walnut Grove 8. Memorial 7. Liberty 6. Reedy 5. Leviton Trail 4 (to state). Argyle 3 (to state). McKinney North 2 (to state). Lone Star 1 (to state). Wakeland
  13. Here we go! Results time …
  14. It’s sporadic posting for me, but Bentonville, IMO, stole the show tonight. Music, props … such a great way to tell the story (my daughter had to point out to me the Princess Diana angle …). Just bloody brilliant!
  15. Lone Star ballad always gives me goosebumps. Kudos to those kids. They’ve been up since 4 am
  16. Will be there for finals, so I'm excited to see what that brings -- especially with the out-of-state competitors. Will finally get a first look at Marcus. Curious to see how the rest shakes out, especially just one week after Bedford. Love to see the BOA 3A (UIL 5A) stalwarts -- Wakeland and Lone Star -- going toe to toe with the big boys.
  17. This. This! The difference in placements between prelims and finals show just how close all these bands really are. Really intrigued to see how BOA Prosper shakes out next week with all the out-of-state bands joining the fun.
  18. A night's sleep to reflect -- The season-long battle between Hebron and FloMo is appointment viewing. Hebron is so incredibly ... perfect, while FloMo is so incredibly, well, "FloMo" and so breathtaking/fun to watch. I wish Marcus had been there last night to join the mix. Another season-long UIL 5A battle to watch: Wakeland vs. Lone Star. These two schools are located just 3 MILES from each other, yet they both embody excellence. IN MY OPINION: Lone Star's music and GE is better this year; while Wakeland's execution, per usual, is flawless and their marching might be second to none. This is a subjective competition, and Lone Star has long been living in Wakeland's shadow, so they've got to overcome that. This was the sixth year that I've attended the BOA Bedford competition, and the quality of the shows keep getting better and better. All finalists should be INCREDIBLY proud.
  19. While we’re still awestruck at what the LISD bands are doing, let’s not ignore what’s happening in Frisco. Lone Star to Wakeland is 2.8 miles door to door. Lone Star to Panther Creek (4A silver, will be 5A by ‘25) is 2.3 miles door to door. Lebanon Trail is just across town. While we salute the kids and these programs, let’s not ignore the feeder schools — those three schools (LS, Wake, PCreek) actually SHARE kids from some middle schools, which is stunning in its own right — that instill this love of music and band. just an incredible few nights for these neighborhood kids. Congrats to all …
  20. Churchill, Smithson Valley and Wakeland have crushed it at the start of Block D
  21. I second this. They killed it! LS and Forney were tops of Block 3.
  22. This says results are announced after midnight. Don’t UIL rules stipulate that you cannot go past midnight and into Sunday on any occasion?
  23. Looking more and more like it’ll be a single run then. Bring it in the prelims because who knows if there will be a finals
  24. This. All of this. And more.
