  1. And that concluded my predictions! Btw do you all want me to list finals placements one by one as they’re called or all at once at the conclusion of the event?
  2. Rock Hill is such a clean band! The first thing that stood out to me was their visual proficiency with fast-paced drill moves. Not at all easy to do. And they play with such confident, mature sounds! You can’t even tell how young the school is! I love how well the woodwinds play those grace notes! Every little note is crystal clear and perfectly timed!
  3. Marcus performs with what I call subtle intensity. They play rhythms that sound simple with exceptionally great tuning, balance and control, all while marching or doing choreography. That double-tonguing feature with the high brass has cleaned up nicely over time. I love how well the low brass juxtaposes them with their (deceptively) simple accompaniment. those woodwind runs were pristine! The tuning and timing of that section in the show has come along nicely. I love how at the throughout the ballad there wasn’t a single odd sound in the ensemble. Pristine and clear all throughout. They built up to the ballad’’s climax perfectly! and they march both simple and complex formations with fantastically strong fundamentals! They make everything look easy when it isn’t!
  4. Wylie East, Loved that double-tounging in the brass section! This is a group that does a good job of playing within themselves and doing very well at it! Strong, well blended sounds all the time from everyone. And great mastery of their visual fundamentals.
  5. What makes Hebron Hebron is the intensity every..single..note is given! No lulls in the intensity whatsoever! The technical mastery was out of this world! Dynamic contrast was otherworldly! They can crescendo form piano to fortissimo with exceptional ease!! Also Who knew there exists a quadruple forte? Hebron did! I love the woodwinds in the ballad! They project so well under the soloists and then take over with fantastic tuning in the upper woodwinds.
  6. can someone help me pick my face off the ground after Hebron blew it off?
  7. WHEW! Flomo does so well at playing with just the right amount of balance and blend even while on the move. All technical passages are CRYSTAL clear. FANTASTIC job maintaining the integrity of the ensemble’s sound during long phrases. I love the complex, super exposed drill formations they attempt and execute with such PRECISION and the guard was great in their characters and performance skills
  8. McKinney Boyd was LOUD!! And impressed me with their clean, accurate intervals in the visual program.
  9. Prosper, I LOVE the contrast demonstrated in the opening moment between the high and low brass. Those quarter note stabs(Are they marked marcato?) in the low brass are POTENT. Very exposed music and visual material for the band. Super easy to tell if any one person performs out of sync with the group but they handled it greatly! Good job woodwinds! I think their woodwinds were stronger individually than they were as a section. Their features were sometimes not in synch with one another but you can still tell this was a great section nonetheless!
  10. Awesome job braswell! Really cool cameo to SCV 2018 with the music in the closer! Nice, clear sounds from all sections. Strong ensemble presence.
  11. Love the compact, sophisticated sound of sachse! Terrific blending of voices in those exposed, minor key passages with the asphalt cocktail music. Not easy to do. Great tuning and integrity of sound regardless of the volume. And great clarity, uniformity and timing with the double-tonguing material in the Vivaldi movement!
  12. I love the control Lewisville maintains at soft volumes. Always sounds crystal clear. Clean marching all around. Strong ensemble presence especially in the high brass. I loved how they synchronized those quarter note attacks in the rite of spring music with one another! Very easy to play in the space but they stayed together!
  13. I’m gonna put a check or an X next to which places I got right. Then compare my correct/incorrect statistics, differential etc… The +/- numbers are the difference between how close my ranking for that particular band was compared to the actual ranking. 1. Coppell ✅ 2. Keller ❌ (-4) 3. Waxahachie ❌ (+1) 4. SLC ❌ (-7) 5. Timber Creek ❌ (+1) 6. Lake Ridge ❌ (-3) - - - - - Top 6 7. LD Bell ✅ 8. Duncanville ❌ (+3) 9. Keller Central ❌ (+6) 10. 14. The W in Wylie stands for Wowsome! Rock solid sounds at every volume. Doing great job of staying within themselves. Never giving too much or too little to the ensemble’s sound. And marched with great precision. And I love how well they differentiate between various volumes. I can easily tell if they changed between a mezzo forte or forte or fortissimo!
  15. Strong, Confident performance from rockwall! They performed with terrific focus. I was impressed with how cleanly they marched no matter what type of formation they were making.
  16. Alright here are my live predictions. This of course will be updated regularly. Then I’ll compare how accurate I was after the awards ceremony. Asterisks mean I’m not certain: •Hebron •Flower Mound •Marcus •Sachse • Wylie •Rock Hill - - - - -State Qualifiers •Prosper •Rockwall •Lewisville •Wylie East •McKinney Boyd •Braswell
  17. I made it to Area C about 15 mins ago. I’m gonna try and make live predictions for finals placements. Whew child, traffic was a challenge
  18. Hahahaha! Thank you! It was a privilege to witness such proficiency from all the groups. I’m gonna do area c finals predictions too. I’m also going to BOA San Antonio finals so I’ll get to try my luck there as well. hmm Band Betting 🤔
  19. I was 8 places off with Fossil ridge 🙈 I was 9/12 with the finalists. Exchange jj Pearce, highland park and Haltom with lake highlands, Berkner and Martin
  20. Alright I’m done driving to mesquite! I am satisfied with my predictions so I will now check to see if I was right.
  21. That brass section was loud!! They’re making my job harder 🥵😭
  22. I think they have a strong concert band program and I think it shows nicely on the field. Some tuning issues here and there that are ways to notice since they’re attempting pretty exposed material but great performance nonetheless!
  23. I loved that opening hit! Can tell they’ve done a lot of work on it. Such strong, relaxed starts to each note. I think they could play stronger in the moving parts, especially when they play on the move but it’s very good still! Want to make sure all of that subtle, 8th-note playing is crystal clear. I loved how during the 2nd mvt you could still hear the woodwinds playing their part even while the brass was playing. Good demonstration of balancing between the brass and woodwind voices. so far the best I’ve heard them this season! And visually the really impressed me with how cleanly they maintain those big band formations, spacing, everything!
  24. Probably should’ve said this earlier but if anyone sees me here or at Area C I’m an African-American dude wearing a Dallas Cowboys beanie(my dad’s a cowboys fan I don’t watch football lol) Right now I’m sitting near the 50 yard line, outermost seat next to the aisle.
