I see them as a higher quality version of SGP. Just played within themselves. Great, clean sounds all around! Loved the grantham woodwind feature! Superb control in those quick, articulated 8th-note sections. -

10th place was good considering the competition. You can see my analysis for TC above your comment. They were a cleaner version of what I wrote today than at BOA Dallas. And maintained the integrity of the ensemble’s sound stronger as well. Also today I think the woodwind feature in the closer could’ve been cleaner, it was a little unsteady. I think they were just nervous. -

I love how potent TC’s sound is! And how well the woodwinds shaped those phrases, all while maintaining great tuning. And those little da-DA moments in the big hits! Very easy for someone to play in the space but they stayed together very well. -

They’re a band that does a good job of playing within themselves. Not too loud or too soft. Just the right amount of support in the sound at various volume levels. -

Copied from Duncanville Marching Invitational Discussion Board. Same thing today only cleaner: They play all of their material very confidently and professionally. I especially liked the in the hall of the mountain king movement. I was impressed by how well each woodwind section executed their part, really good control from the high woodwinds in the upper register 8th-note phrases, and confident playing from the saxes and low reeds. I liked those little ornaments the brass did in their playing! Very creative. And the low brass handled their part so well, very controlled sounds coming from that section when they could’ve easily played their parts splatty. They’re a band that’s comfortable with featuring any section which is impressive. -

Sublime! I the only other time I got to see their show was boa Dallas prelims so this was a good refresher. Sooo much substance in the sound of every section. The woodwinds really impressed with their clarity, uniformity and dexterity with their runs in the closer. The brass has such a potent sound. And the band maintains great control of their formations on the move. -

2022-23 Area C Predictions?

Someone in the Area B discussion thread said that the Area Secretary explained that if the whole contest cannot be completed before midnight then prelims results will stand for the whole contest. -

Do you know how the rain delays will work? If finals is canceled does it get moved to Monday or will prelims scores decide the contest? -

2022-23 Area C Predictions?
Dallas Hobbs replied to SaxPapi101's topic in Past Contests, Events, and Festivals Archive
I’m thinking about going to Area B prelims and Area C finals, the opposite of what I did last year, lol, I haven’t decided exactly what I’m gonna do though, so many options😩 This would be the 4th time going to B and the third time going to C.
