Well the event is underway! Sharyland Pioneer- First off, the pre-opener threw me off 😆. Took me a minute to realize that their pre-opener is them walking to their spot. The show was very fascinating! The idea of the different stages of metal put into different movements, really cool! They sounded very nice musically, and had an overall good marching performance. I really loved the use of Sound garden's Black Hole Sun in their third movement! Overall, amazing performance Pioneer and congratulations on Advancing to State! Edit- Just noticed 2 things, they had a Bassoon solo, which is really unique, and also, this was a steam punk based show!

Well Today is the Day, 35 bands from across the State of Texas will be competing for a chance to become a State Finalist and possibly take home a Medal. If you are competing, be ready to have the performance of your life! 6A is done, 4A has finished their journey, history was made in 2A, but today, it's your turn to Write History. Be that group that got the program to finals, become the first program since 2013 to win the State Title or get that Georgetown record (Cedar Park ). Overall though, enjoy the ride, make memories, and above all, be proud of your accomplishments. Today is your day, you earned it! I thought that if a band got 3 1's- 2 from Music and 1 from Visual, then they would win because of the majority judges rule. It happened in 2016 when North Lamar won state

China Spring HS- HELLO CHINA SPRING! That Opener is SO GOOD! Great power and ensemble sound! The design of the props and uniforms are so nice! The French Horn solo was played beautifully and the ballad overall sounded really nice! Also I'm guessing its because of mic placement, but the Bari-Sax players sounded good! Overall, Congratulations to your 2023 4A State Finalist, China Spring HS!!!

I feel we are going to see a new champion, but its between 3 schools right now XD

Sulphur Springs HS- This show is really fun to watch! The opener was executed nicely! Movement 2 sounds so nice, the tone and technique were really good musically, some forms were not followed though which sucks :(. I will say, they have had the longest day out of all the bands tonight since they were the 4th band to go in prelims, so its nice to see them give a nice performance! I really enjoyed the ballad as well! That Saxophone quartet is SO good! Overall, I really enjoyed their 2nd performance today! Congratulations to your now 2x State Finalist, Sulphur Springs HS!

Celina HS- WHAT A RUN! The reigning State Champions are looking to add a 2nd one to the records! I really liked the prop designs and definitely see them as a top 3 band! Congratulations Celina HS on the run and being a 2023 4A State Finalist!

Anna HS- Seriously, I love that Opener! Memories of getting to watch Reading Rainbow in school keep floating back every time I hear it! Rainbow Connection is probably one of my favorite ballads from this year! Reminds me so much of my dad and his love of the Muppets! This show has become one of my favorites from the season! I also really like the final movement, just sucks that the show must end :(. Thank you Anna HS on such a beautiful performance, Congratulations on becoming a 2x State Finalist, and thank you so much for the memories :').

Panther Creek HS- OMG, I think we just witnessed a possible State Winning Run!!! The music, the marching, the tone, and the techniques were all executed well! I love the props as well, they look like the ones from Rockwall's show last year. The flute soloist played beautifully! Panther Creek, thank you for such a beautiful performance and congratulations on becoming a STATE FINALIST!

Davenport HS- What a Unique show! I like the idea about everything being Up, nothing was facing down. I really liked their arrangement of the Up main theme in their ballad, was played very well! Congratulations to your now 2x State Finalist and your 2023 4A state finalist, Davenport HS!

North Lamar HS- WHAT A BEAUTIFUL PERFORMANCE! First off, I wanted to welcome North Lamar HS back to Finals! This show is very interesting to say the least. Personally, I feel that this run was an improvement from Prelims, and They executed their show very well! That ballad is an amazing arraignment of Can't Help Falling in Love with You! It was played well! Congratulations to your 4A State Finalist, North Lamar HS, on their performance!

Canyon HS- HELLO AGAIN CANYON HS! What an AMAZING show and another AMAZING performance! I really love this show and the music and the visuals just make this a show that you can watch over and over again. Canyon HS just showed all how to survive the wastelands and get to the other side! Thank you Canyon HS for the performance and Congratulations to your 2023 4A State Marching Contest Finalists!

West Plains HS- AMAZING! That was an amazing performance! I felt that it was much improved from their prelims run. I love the concept of this show and the use of Starry Night painting to create this concept! The music is nice, the visuals looked clean, and overall was executed well! Congratulations to the first time finalist at UIL State, Your 4A 2023 State Finalist, West Plains HS!

Calallen HS- WHAT A PERFORMANCE! I really liked their music selections, and the concept of the show was really nice! I'm a sucker for Space themed shows XD. There were some issues in the marching side of the show, but overall, it was well Executed! I enjoyed the performance and am very excited to see Calallen advance to Finals! Congratulations Calallen HS on the performance and being a 2023 4A State Finalist!!!
