  1. Yes Summit! Even if that was the last competitive run of the season, you've done a tremendous job pushing this program to it's highest heights! Congrats on a great season. I know all of us alums are super happy for you!
  2. Recaps for today: Prelims: https://marching.musicforall.org/wp-content/uploads/sites/5/2021/10/2021-Waco-Prelims-Recap.pdf Finals: https://marching.musicforall.org/wp-content/uploads/sites/5/2021/10/2021-Waco-Finals-Recap.pdf I’m sure the easier to read ones will be up on Horn Rank in the morning.

  4. Summit: I really don’t know what to say that I’ve already said. The growth of this program the last five years has been nothing short of an incredible! This show is so good all the way through. Y’all are playing music we never would have thought of on the field, and you perform it at a very high level. Probably me favorite show I’ve ever seen from Summit (and Spotlights is no slouch). Great job this year, y’all!
  5. Bowie: Yes, what a lovely show! Love the part of the ballad with the backfield playing and the great reverent off the back stands. And such power from the brass. Great performance!
  6. I know a number of years ago it was 5 to get on and get set and then 10 to perform and get off the field. Wonder if they’ll ever go back to that.
  7. Johnson: Wow. Awesome show. There’s so much fun sprinkled throughout the performance. Add in a great sound and it’s an incredible spectacle. Great job, y’all!
  8. Cedar Park: First time ever seeing them live today and they lived up to everything I’ve heard and then some! Just so clean visually and musically. And such a powerful sound too. Definitely the favorite at State this week!
  9. Hendrickson: That show is so much fun. I love the rock out section towards the end. Such a great sound throughout the show!
  10. Rouse: We are definitely in the top half of finals now. First time seeing Rouse live, and they did not disappoint! Love the use of Nimrod as the ballad and the sound is incredible. Great performances today, Rouse!
  11. Aledo: Wow. That show grabs you with the Deliver Us hit in the opener and never lets go. And I will have the Walk Like an Egyptian section stuck in my head on the drive back to Mansfield. I think this group might surprise some folks in finals at State!
  12. LASA: That was a much better run tonight in finals! I love the mixing of Pines of Rome and Peter and the Wolf. And the back field playing adds so much color. Great performances today, y’all!
  13. Colleyville Heritage, Burleson Centennial, Aledo, Summit, Cedar Park, Rouse and Hendrickson (I think).
  14. Burleson Centennial: Another show that has been fun to watch grow this season. Love the drum break section. That looks like a lot of fun to perform. And so musically sound throughout. Great job today, y’all!
  15. Midlothian: This show has been a gem of a show to watch this season (I am not apologizing for that pun). I love the visual impact of the guard. And the music is just incredible. Congrats on a great season this year!
  16. Correct. Although technically I can piece together that Summit is at least top 5 since Hendrickson is 3A and In the top six and Summit beat them based on the announced 3A prelims top 3.
  17. Rock Hill: If I didn’t know anything about this school and you told me this was their second year and first real competitive year, I would tell you you’re lying. It’s incredible what they’re doing on the field. Great sound. They will be a force to be reckoned with in the DFW area.
  18. Based on the schedule. The first 6 performing tonight were in spots 7-12. Last six performing were in spots 1-6.
  19. Colleyville Heritage: I’ve gotten to see that show a lot this year. That was your best run of it this year. An underrated part is that backfield opening. Love the reverb. And Old 100th is lovely. Great job today!
  20. The sun has set and the lights are on at beautiful Waco ISD stadium. The temps have dropped into the 60s. And I don’t know about you, but I am ready to watch these 12 bands throw it down on more time tonight.
  21. All music judges at area judge all aspects of music: music analysis, brass, woodwinds and percussion. At state, those will broken out into four separate judges.
  22. No. It’s completely random amongst all finalists.
