You’ll say that, until you hear the acoustics.

2022 BOA San Antonio (Nov. 4 & 5)
lost replied to LeanderMomma's topic in Past Contests, Events, and Festivals Archive
With how the last three years have gone I think it’s safer to have a prediction with one band that most people aren’t predicting in finals. Expect the unexpected they say! -
I would hardly use area scores as an indicator for SA. Just last season Vista Ridge beat Vandegrift at area and then they swapped at San Antonio. Same with a few bands last year swapping placements. It happens. Area is kind of weird and wonky all the time.

You did say that though. I appreciate you mischaracterizing my comments and resorting to calling me “worse”, I do believe that reflects more on yourself than me. I’ll keep that we shouldn’t be putting down bands by saying “these two should’ve been in over other groups” especially when they all equally worked hard. Keep supporting, keep clapping, no need to be spiteful. They’re all fun shows regardless of cleanliness let’s just keep having fun. Stating your opinion as fact does not change results. -

You should unnecessarily spiteful to other groups. Smile and be happy for the bands that make finals, continue to support and push the bands who didn’t forwards. No need for this “These bands didn’t deserve to make it” talk. Contrary to what you’re saying it not only does little to uplift the band you think should’ve made it in, but it also hurts the bands who did. I’m very tired of seeing this. -
I’m actually glad that they didn’t do both contests, controversial I know. Doing both contests is just too much for the marchers, it’s already exhausting enough. I don’t think it’s an accident that the two highest placing bands at GN skipped 1 of the 2 contests. Feedback is important, but so is rest.

No actually, it is significantly more expensive for bands to do state every year. This is at the UIL organizer level.

I really suggest you take a step back with your comments. They’re dangerously bitter and unnecessarily spiteful.

6A UIL Area D 2022 Predictions/Results
lost replied to ReveriesOp24's topic in Past Contests, Events, and Festivals Archive
Not surprised about Westwood, fun show but it’s never gotten to the point of competing with some of the other bands. Rough for Bowie, but they’ll make up for it at San Antonio doubt. -

Give it from a few minutes to an hour, they’ll be out soon. -

UIL 5A Area B 2022

We’ll agree to disagree, I just really can’t see a scenario where Lone Star could get close to the level Wakeland is at right now. Lone Star will continue to grow but for this season at least we’ve seen Wakeland have a bad run (Bedford Prelims) and still place solidly ahead several groups. -

Most bands here are 5A which transfers to about AAA in BOA classifications. 6A Area is on this date so most of those bands will be competing there instead. M.G. Johnson is skipping area and 6A and Hays as well as MacArthur might also be 6A? I’m not sure. -

As great as Lone Star is I don’t think they’d have beaten Wakeland. They immediately rectified their poor music performance to sweep all music captions in finals. Looks like they cleaned up those weaknesses pretty quickly. Wakeland was also four points ahead of Lone Star at Bedford. Great work to Lone Star this season, but I think Wakeland had it in the bag had they competed here. -
UIL 6A Area H Contest 2022

That’s great news! It’s definitely going to be Vista Ridge, Westlake and Vandegrift going to state with a spot left to fight for. Last spot is most likely going to Lake Travis but we’ve seen bigger shake-ups in other areas, so keep an eye on Brandeis and O’Connor -

The Woodlands deserves a lot more credit than they are being given. Cedar Park is barely ahead Vista Ridge flip flop them depending on if it’s cloudy or sunny it really doesn’t matter, short boring story all three are in finals. -

There are groups better than Keller right now, but historically they’ve always cleaned to the very end so I’m willing to give them the benefit of the doubt. Rouse isn’t at the level they were last season but they’re still keeping pace behind some of the strongest groups this season. It was them or Cy-Fair and I think Rouse has more room to clean and refine. I think that left Rouse and Keller as the safest choices for now. -

I have a much more descriptive prediction but for now here’s what I have: Panel 1: Flower Mound Marcus Claudia Taylor Johnson Ronald Reagan Round Rock - Panel 2: Hebron Vandegrift Cedar Ridge The Woodlands Cedar Park - First Four: Vista Ridge, Coppell, Keller, Rouse, - I’ve decided I don’t want to over-explain this. If you have any qualms or are puzzled by anything do ask. -

Given the bands I’ve seen make it to area…I do not think Aledo should be at a 2 even if they’re having a rough season. -

There’s really no use for them to drive up for a regular season regional when they’ve done fine without them for years. San Antonio is usually the same weekend as OBA championships and they’re on a 15 or so win streak for that so that’s not an option. -
