Y’know, I think Hebron might make finals. Little band from a little town. -

I don’t think you need to pounce on every comment like this, I really didn’t mean any ill intent. Sure we’ve seen some duplication, it is worth noting this is a newer trend but you’re right in that amazing bands will usually make finals in both with no issue. -

……to be fair UIL did change their sheets to be more BOA-like as of recent. Was their comment bitter? Sure. GE does way too much I think though. It should probably be less. -

I think everything’s about the same with people spelling more confidence for Leander and Keller, and a little less for Hendrickson and Rouse although all are still in very good contention and had wonderful shows. -

Panels are posted alongside the schedule, not sure which page someone can direct you to them. BOA does their best to sort them based on past success and randomness, lots of talk about them being “uneven” but it’s just talk that happens every year. They alternate between block, with the occasional one off depending on scheduling hiccups. -

Yeah Keller should be in finals. Thoughts? -

I think the points CTJ picks up in marching and music for their difficulty will be lost in GE, so really it’ll probably balance out. A&M Consolidated was also awesome! Great work and I think that should break an 80. Lovely show. -

I’d say people are putting too much weight on those Waco visual scores. They weren’t super high, but they’ve cleaned it up. I’d judge Rouse only on their performance tonight than some scores a week ago. Sorry if this comes off a bit crabby, but I’ve seen a surprising amount of people counting them out because of their Waco visual scores (in which they still scored nicely in VGE) -

Leander! Really beautiful sounds. I’m going to sound crazy to some of y’all, but perhaps a finalist spot isn’t out of the question? I don’t think their GE scores will be high but otherwise they seemed solid! -

I actually thought their props looked better in the dome, but to each their own! -

I love Rouse, I have been a Rouse fan since 2017. A little little worried about them making finals. Beautiful show though! -

Dripping Springs! I'd have them pretty high up. Not sure what it is, but UIL seems to respond much better to their shows. If they're not in tomorrow they might be in Monday. -
You’ll say that, until you hear the acoustics.

With how the last three years have gone I think it’s safer to have a prediction with one band that most people aren’t predicting in finals. Expect the unexpected they say! -
I would hardly use area scores as an indicator for SA. Just last season Vista Ridge beat Vandegrift at area and then they swapped at San Antonio. Same with a few bands last year swapping placements. It happens. Area is kind of weird and wonky all the time.

You did say that though. I appreciate you mischaracterizing my comments and resorting to calling me “worse”, I do believe that reflects more on yourself than me. I’ll keep that we shouldn’t be putting down bands by saying “these two should’ve been in over other groups” especially when they all equally worked hard. Keep supporting, keep clapping, no need to be spiteful. They’re all fun shows regardless of cleanliness let’s just keep having fun. Stating your opinion as fact does not change results. -

You should unnecessarily spiteful to other groups. Smile and be happy for the bands that make finals, continue to support and push the bands who didn’t forwards. No need for this “These bands didn’t deserve to make it” talk. Contrary to what you’re saying it not only does little to uplift the band you think should’ve made it in, but it also hurts the bands who did. I’m very tired of seeing this. -
I’m actually glad that they didn’t do both contests, controversial I know. Doing both contests is just too much for the marchers, it’s already exhausting enough. I don’t think it’s an accident that the two highest placing bands at GN skipped 1 of the 2 contests. Feedback is important, but so is rest.
-
No actually, it is significantly more expensive for bands to do state every year. This is at the UIL organizer level.

I really suggest you take a step back with your comments. They’re dangerously bitter and unnecessarily spiteful.

6A UIL Area D 2022 Predictions/Results

Not surprised about Westwood, fun show but it’s never gotten to the point of competing with some of the other bands. Rough for Bowie, but they’ll make up for it at San Antonio doubt.
